This is turning into a series . . . So some simmers can't stop talking about how much they want cars, others are bored with the topic. Where do you stand? Which aspect of cars do you care about? On the one hand you have drivability, i.e. the ability to drive your car around the neighborhood. On the other hand, you have parked car interactions: making out, woohoo, listening to the radio, napping, etc. If we have a drivable car without parked interactions it would basically be like an Island Living water scooter, except that it goes on roads instead of water. If we have parked car interactions without drivability, I imagine this being like a fixer-upper car that, once it's fixed up and painted, you can use it for woohoo and naps and all that, but it still doesn't run well enough to drive.

I could not care less about cars in the sims 4.

Honestly, that'll be so cute and cool at the same time! 💖😺🏍️🐶💖
Without it neighborhoods and lots feel like movie sets, the solution of having sims fading away into nothing have always looked bad in my opinion or when sims like firemen appear out of thin air.
It doesn't feel like you are traveling anywhere and it also makes it unnecessary complicated if you want to build lots with garages or parking lots. There are plenty of cars driving around in the neighborhoods but we can't own one ourselves?
More likely the car will go in a Sim’s inventory and you click on it in there. The car will probably teleport to the road with the Sim inside and drive off.
No teleportation and TS3 style cars, please. We saw with bikes, how they like to take them out of their inventories while still inside buildings and park them next to the couch when they get home. I don't want the same thing to happen with the cars. They need to have their designated parking spaces and ideally should be able to drive in and out of the lot, and sims should be able to open doors and get inside.
The animations for cars is more complex so I can’t see the actual parking and opening doors etc being done 🤔🤷🏼♂️. Bikes are smaller and I know people who bring theirs indoors.
I do miss TS2 cars for the reason of parking and getting in and out, as I play TS3 more I’m more used to the car system in there.
It seems to me that fully drivable cars would require a major revamp of the game, or would be so limited that they’re useless. If they are just parked in your driveway with a driving animation before a loading screen, that’s fine, but I would feel it’s unnecessary. Interactive parked car objects would be less disruptive to our games, but I doubt that would satisfy many car enthusiasts. For those who want them, I hope EA finds a way to give them cars that won’t change the overall game too much. And, if they do implement them, I hope they’re in a travel type pack of their own, and not part of a base game update. I like my game just fine without them.

I want to be able to drive around some neighborhoods where it makes sense but more than anything if we do get cars there should be gameplay and interactions to do with the car
its not just about go from place a to place b
and yeah maybe its not like top want on my list for the game but i feel like it would just make all these suburban lawns bit more interesting to have some cars to build or whatever

If/when they come I don't think they'll be drivable, at least not in older worlds, but it'd be a nice hobby for mechanically inclined sims to fix up and hang out in.
(Going off topic, I hope if this is added to the game it will be it's own skill and not just a part of handiness, although it should also level that skill up as well).
But if we get them, they have to at least have parked interactions, because otherwise I can just go into Debug and use the ones we already have in game if they're just decor. Let our sims fix them up, soup them up, wash them, woo hoo in them, and use them as a means of opening the world map, and I'll be perfectly content.
Being able to enter a kind of "create a car" and detail them would be a very cool bonus, but I'm so not holding my breath. (But oh, the 80s rocker vans...)
@crocobaura I agree with you about open world driving being an underwhelming feature. For driving into a loading screen, I just don't see the appeal. Now I was playing Sims 2 back in olden times when the loading screens lasted 20 minutes, so I'm a lot more chill about Sims 4 loading screens than some other players are. I'm still not eager to add even more time to the process by tacking a repetitive animation to the beginning of it. Not only that, but it would take up Sim time, not just player time.
About the non-driving cars. I can see this making sense in the context of, let's say, a DIY pack. I got this idea from @LeGardePourpre 's "Man Pack" thread. Don't like the idea of branding DIY/mechanical hobbies that way, but the actual game play ideas sounded fun. This pack could expand on the things you can do with the handiness skill, perhaps introduce some minor DIY hobby skills like kite making. It could introduce a freelance Handy career similar to the Paranormal Investigator career. It could also introduce a number of buildable objects, sort of like the tree house. One such buildable item could be a vintage car. Let's say, from the 60s or earlier. Not sure how old a car has to be to be vintage, my father's a lot more fluent on this topic than I am, but you could have things like a a Deusy, a Roadster, a 1940s Rolls Royce, a Thunderbird. Once you've tinkered with it and polished it up, you could use it for parked car interactions, but it wouldn't be safe to ride on the street.
@DaWaterRat suggested the non-driving cars could be used for transportation in a way similar to City Living elevators. When you click on them one of the options is "Travel" which transports you to the world map. It's more efficient than looking through your phone. It would be convenient if you could do this from a non-apartment lot by clicking on a car.

Well, since there will be loading screens regardless of whether you are on foot or in a car, then this issue is not really an issue. As for adding extra time, it's not different to riding a bike or a horse. People who enjoy that can have them in their game, those who don't can continue walking to lots. Drivable cars could be used to drive on large lots, teens could practice their parking skill and such. If they add a racetrack to the neighbourhood, sims could even possibly participate in a car race or maybe drifting. Also, it would be nice if sims could open a garage and have sims bring their cars in to be fixed, cleaned or upgraded. For this you would need drivable cars and it would offer so much more gameplay than a static object that you just admire once you've finished the one time restoration.
I don't know what to click ^^'
And I'm not sure if the cars EA would add would add to our gameplay.
We already achieved a lot with the buydebug cars (without mods/cc/poses).
We can (pretend to) repair them or wash them or drive somewhere...
Where would we drive to anyway in these little neighborhoods? Getting in the car just to drive to the next house is a little unpractical imo and the main reason why we don't have functional cars yet.
