What we also shouldn't forget is that there are already three other life sims that will be released sooner or later.

But none of them is on Mac, console and mobile.

The game had a number of 2.5 million players on Playstation 4, beating the number of 2.2 million on PC.

So the Sims team should really combine their forces to not mess up Sims 5 too.
Which is also a reason for them to drop Sims 4.

Maxis is bigger now with Vancouver, Austin and Europe studios, they can probably do both.

I see Sims 4 ending sometime in 2024,and Sims 5 will be the new Sims game everyone plays. Just imagine Sims 5 having open world and Create-a-Style,and cars/pools/ghosts/graveyards/pets/university/toddlers/other cool stuff in the Sims 5 base game.

We can't expect Sims 4 to keep going on until 2027-2029,because it will just be a complete buggy, glitchy, laggy, unplayable mess that crashes on startup by then, We need to let Sims 4 end sometime. Even if Sims 5 comes out early next year,we'll still have Sims 4,

But will Sims 5 really have all those in base game? We don't know what will be in basegame and sometimes they do tradeoffs that might not please us.

But will Sims 5 really have all those in base game?

And in how many years will they be added to the basegame ?

TS4 : 3 years for Toddler, 4 years for Terrain tool, 7 years for Pond tool, ...

Maxis must figure out how to do everything with Unreal Engine on PC/Mac/Console/Mobile. It's a new start from scratch.
If it requires 10 years to get the base features, TS4 will remain more attractive for many players.

Yea no way they would drop Sims 4 just like that, they continue to get easy money and all of you think they would end this series despite it being incredibly profitable for them? What is this...no matter how much any of Simmers keep denying it, it won't change the truth, whether you like it or not, Sims 4 will keep being here for a long long time, even after Sims 5 releases, and it will keep getting new content and DLC as they promised in October 2022...people can keep their wishes separate from the reality, no matter how much anyone wishes this game to finish, it won't happen anytime soon...sorry if this was harsh, but I always had the feeling TS4 is doing better than many people would assume, so yeah...not happening. This game has lasting power <3

Yeah, that's never gonna happen. Ghosts, sure, and maybe pools or toddlers, best case scenario. But the rest? Nah.

I didn't even play sims 4 for the first two years because it was boring to me. That is 2 years they didn't get any money from me. I'm sure I wasn't alone in not switching right away. It would make sense to continue to produce sims 4 content in people continue to buy it. Hopefully they continue to do so. As far as buggy, the game still works for me. Every now in then I may get a glitch but it's typically fixable in game and I continue playing without loss. Nothing like the sims 3 where the whole game would just randomly crash.

I’m ready for a better sims game honestly, I think if the base game isn’t all it could be then the expansions can only add or do much. You got to have good land to grow on. And I like the sims 4 gameplay a lot more now, but at the same time I’m ready for something new. I really hope it’s not until 2028, that’s four more years, the sims 4 will be 14 years old by then. I think the sims 5 will release in late 2025, maybe early 2026 but 2028? I doubt that much longer.

Rene is a cross platform game, so it will not have the usual development, unlike the previous games, so keep that in mind :) I wouldn't be surprised if 2027 or 2028 really is the year it comes out, but late 2026 could be realistic too. However, that doesn't mean at all that they would drop Sims 4 just like that in favor of a completely different new game for a different audience, Sims 4 will keep getting content and updates despite Rene/Sims 5.

Yeah The Sims 3 was a horrible game experience for me since day 1. When I got my first ever own PC computer it always crashed and I got so angry and upset and I was swearing a lot because the game was so annoying and infuriating with the constant lag and freezing and crashes. Unlike The Sims 4, Sims 3 never worked properly for me, not even on my PC I bought in 2016. Even Sims 4 works better on it than that dumpster fire that was Sims 3.

I get that you're a hardcore Sims 4 fan (trust me, I love it too. I've been playing since day one) but the game will most definitely not run along with Rene/5. The Sims 3 was incredibly successful when 4 was announced and it was still accumulating sales by the time it released but the last piece of new content we got was in the summer of '14. Rene could very well come out in 2028 for all we know but given Maxis' history and its current development time, we're looking at a 2025-2026 release.

Also, Rene/5 isn't gonna be the same experience across all platforms. Grant said that the mobile version will be a lite version of the game, kind of like a companion, so it's not gonna affect development as much as you'd think it would.

It will probably be higher ups and shareholders who would want the sims to reach more people and not wanting EA/Maxis to spend a lot of time making packs that will push Project Rene to be finished. The sims 4 is very dependent on packs to get people to keep playing, if you look at the player count for monthly live players then it goes up a lot when a new pack is released and then it drops down a lot after a month or so until a new pack is released.

And it takes a long time for EA/Maxis to make packs (expansion packs can take over a year according to what the developers have shared) so that's a lot of time they have to spend on a pack instead of making an entirely new game, and then they are spending money on branding and marketing too to make the sims4 stay relevant. They are making money back faster when they make smaller packs and kits, but they don't draw in as many players.

So sure, you are getting money back on the time you spent on making a couple of packs, but you could also spend that time making a new game that will draw in way more people instead of just keeping your existing game alive. And that argument is going to be more relevant depending on how many people that keep coming back for sims4 packs.

Agree. I foresee ghosts, pools and toddlers being in base game but nothing else. They make money on the pets and university packs as expansions, no way they would add them in base game.

If it's out in 2025, I will stop supporting this entire franchise altogether, if that means they want to stop working on Sims 4 with a SEPARATE team that should have absolutely nothing to do with Rene team…Rene will be nothing like 4, for different audiences,..I just know some people will not move to Rene from Sims 4…I am predicting a chaos in the forums the day such a nightmare happened…I am praying that will not need to happen…

I don't see people reacting negatively to Maxis ending support for TS4, we've done it for 3 entries so far it's the norm; and it's really not worth it to boycott the game considering it'll be a traditional sims game like the past 4 games we've gotten. The Sims 5 is just gonna include optional multiplayer for those who wish to play with friends.

I had to look back and it surprised me - Sims 3 had no content since the end of 2013…basically a full year between Sims 3 ending and Sims 4’s launch.

Of course, there was the Sims 3 store, but I thought that at least stuff packs were being made for the Sims 3 in its final year.

So…Sims 4. Will this repeat? As in final content coming out end of 2024 (excluding kits) and Rene being released end of 2025?

I don’t understand your point; can you please help me understand it?

None of Sims 1, Sims 2, and Sims 3 continued beyond the release of the next generation. And by continued I mean gameplay content DLC being published. What makes you think Sims 4 will be different once Sims 5 comes out in, let’s say, 2025?

I will keep in mind these words from 2021 :

    https://www.gamesindustry.biz/catharina-lavers-mallet-takes-over-as-maxis-boss
Folks in the industry used to talk about having successful games that could live for five years.
Now we talk about them lasting ten years, 15 years, or more.
There's been a shift across the entire games industry to support and nurture our communities long-term, and we're committed to doing just that with The Sims 4.

This is why I think Sims 5 is being built for all of these platforms and with multiplayers features in the base game so it will last for 10 to 15 years.

No need to hurry because The Sims Project Rene should also have a long life.

If they rush it, the players will have to deal with this pain for decades like The Sims 4.

Can this thread be closed please? I am disagreeing on so many of the posts here so yeah my last comment is: keep believing whatever you want but this game is not going to disappear just like you expect. You will see I am right, hopefully you will realize this game is not going anywhere. Y'all can have your wishful thinking that Rene/Sims 5 will has some lame traditional whatever pattern the previous games had, people keep ignoring every comment EA and SimGurus have stated about The Sims 4 and btw, they didn't lie in October 2022 when they stated Rene is in EARLY development. Keep believing what you want but the reality is not always what you wish or expect. I know what I am talking about. You will see.. :)
