@MrPlumbob Monica's books are stunning in so many ways. I love that they exist in both worlds and the cover text is so well written and insightful and the cover and Monica's author picture are so beautiful. It's so well done. @haneul The piano screenshot is perfect. It really delivers the dreamy feeling of the song. So beautiful. And the setting is also perfect. The room and the colors. @lanlyn
I actually really started a sims-meets-star wars tarot deck ^^' I even managed to assign a Sim to each card in the great arcana. I made one card and took photos for a second one and then I got distracted again. Thank you, ADHD That was 2021 and I hadn't all those fancy apps I have now. I'm not overly proud of them but I like to look at these old edits and see what progress I've made and ponder about what I would do different if I made another approach. In these two years I also learned to be more patient and take more time to take better screenshots and more time for editing. Being creative is an endless journey of learning and evolving
TMI: Logan is a son of adult Jack and the dog next to him is his dog form (all those years before the werewolves pack was released, the Callahan pack were dog shifters hahaha)
Adult Vlad was intended to be 01 - The Magican (Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader)
@Lenny_Ogg Those watercolor/impressionist screenshots are beautiful, the last one in particular! π
RE: Tarot
Love your tarot card ideas. Vlad makes a great Magician/Darth Vader. The shot you took of him holding the laser 'wand' up is perfect. And I like your Fool card too, with the droid and little dog. Making a tarot deck with The Sims would be cool. Hope you find time to experiment some more. π
Many years ago, when I was just learning about computers, I took a class in MS Publisher and played around with it to make a Clip Art deck. Not a masterpiece for sure! π Just a bit of fun. Simple, whimsical. Here are a couple of examples. π
@lanlyn the colors in the second screenshot are brighter (?)
The clip art tarot is an amazingly creative attempt on making a tarot deck. Makes me want to try again π Maybe not a whole deck but a few cards for my main chars?
This was when Jack was in another realm while he had been in a coma.
Kiyoshi appeared to him as a kind of force ghost from an old vhs video cassette (Jack's whole experience there was inspired by Star Wars ^^')
@Lenny_Ogg I like your force ghost. Nice graphic effect. Creative. π
I edited the horse legs to appear to be in front of the fence instead of glitching through it. π The Gimp app export may have brightened the pic a bit, I suppose, but I didn't do that myself.
@lanlyn thank you
Wow! You can't imagine how often I looked at your screenshots and didn't see it! Yesterday I even asked my daughter and she didn't noticed the difference either ^^' Thought my eyes are too old haha.
But how did you do this? It's amazing! When you zoom into my edits you can spot where I changed something, but your changes are so perfect, I don't notice any marks or borders and the fur of the horse is even patterned.
A World of Warcraft/The Sims 4 crossover for our 'The Four Horsemen' chapter.
I'll have to revive them, now that they finally have horses
The four Horsemen and their pets (Jack is his own pet):
@Lenny_Ogg I like your mix of World of Warcraft and Sims! I haven't played WoW before. I'm mainly a single-player games person, but I know a lot of people love WoW. π
As for my edits, with Gimp, I zoomed up to 800% into the spots I wanted to fix and used the eye-dropper tool to pick up nearby colors I needed and dotted them in with various paint brush tool sizes. Then I used the smudge or blend tools to smooth the patches so the colors and patterns matched the surrounding area. Back in 100% view, I checked the fix, and kept working until it looked ok to me. It's tedious, but I actually enjoy doing it.
My Edwardian family, the Lindes, outside their colonial farmhouse.
First row, from left to right: Sigrid Linde and Samuel Linde II
Second row, from left to right: Annabella Linde, Samuel Linde I, Cassiel Linde.
For images in my simlit stories, I do sometimes use filters, though not a lot. I haven't tried any of the online AI drawing/painting type programs yet. Though, the results could be very useful for making some cc decor I might need for the story. I might look into that.
I do make composites, which I typically just do by hand (using the "free select" tool and transparent layers in GIMP).
Unfortunately, a lot of my favorite examples are in chapters or stories I haven't posted yet.
I love all the edits. @lanlyn Impressive clean up of the clipping. You're very detailed. @jamie2112 The edit really creates a nice sense of time. Your Sims look great. @MrPlumbob Lovely prologue too. Do you have a thread or website where you post about your Sims/gameplay?
I try to keep my edits subtle and authentic to my gameplay, but when I take screenshots that I use in CC or as portraits, my editing is a bit heavier (or I'm trying to fix things that I should have fixed while playing but didn't notice or care about then ). This is the before and after of pictures I did to celebrate Lunar New Year. I change expressions in both examples just for fun and lighting (but to be clear, I try not to be this shady with my actual legacy gameplay screenshots).
@lanlyn That's just amazing. I can't get over it how perfect it turned out π
(You can play WoW easily without other players. I did that most of the time ^^') @jamie2112 the victorian photo of your family is amazing. It really has the vibe of that era and baby Samuel in his little suit and bowtie is just the cutest πΆ
Is this created with gimp? @GlacierSnow aww I miss your Sims so much. Glad to hear you are working new episodes.
I'll have to look into transparent layers too. I'm having a hard time with layers, oh my π I even have a note at my monitor how to put a border around a selection and I have to look at it every-single-time. And now it's gone. I'm lost. @haneul Your screenshots are so beautiful and again I am amazed by the whole setting and how beautiful your Sims are. And it's absolutely stunning that you can change the expressions! How do you do this?
I do not often have the patience to painstakingly cut sth out but with this screenshot I did. It was the profile pic for my tumblr for a while and showed up on a background in the same blue so you just saw the motive.
@Lenny_Ogg Definitely working on more chapters! It's just taking longer than anticipated.
I like that shot with the crystals around the portal. Looks cool!
One of the other types of edits I do a lot is fixing clipping issues. Clipping really bothers me in my story images. So if I can't fix it by doing something different with the pose, the camera angle, or the in-game animation, I always edit it out in the final version of the screenshot.
I don't think this image is too much of a spoiler, and it's one of the biggest clipping issues I've had to fix so far:
@GlacierSnow thank you π oh I wish I had the patience to do such edits. I'd rather let my sim sit on a stool and raise the armchair from the basement ^^'
Which I actually did a few days ago (just without the stool, they are both standing, nothing was edited but the bright- and sharpness)
or with the throne and stairs in hell (with stool)
I made a set of these Autumn in Copperdale screenshots with gimp (where I actually worked with layers ^^')
@MrPlumbob Thank you. I use ReShade. I resisted it for a long time, but once I tried it, I never stopped using it for screenshots. @Lenny_Ogg Thanks! I use Photoshop, either its liquify tool/filter or neural filters to change expressions. I like your creative use of stools. I never thought of that.
Everyone in this thread is so neat about editing clipping or selecting things nicely and cutting them out. It's impressive. I don't always fix clipping.
Edit from when I was testing my high school build (minor edits to brightness, colors, DOF).
@jamie2112 these edits are just perfect. The clothes, the poses and the scenery β¨
It's a thing on tumblr again to let an AI edit your Sims, so I tried too.
The app I used is 'New Profile Pic' from the app store and I edited them on my tablet.
I think Kiyoshi looks the most like his Sim self.
If you like, try it too and post your Sim edits here with a reference photo.
The reference photos of the boys are in my signature.
Once I read that you can distinguish AI generated photos from real ones by looking at the hands. And it's true! The thumb is hidden but the AI shows 5 fingers anyway π€ (These are AI generated pics of Vlad and Saiwa)
