"Your horses — including adorable foals — are part of your household and have lots of special interactions with both Sims and other horses."

Does anybody else think that means they'll be playable? And if so would they update cats and dogs to be playable too?

This looks wonderful it is western and country.

I agree 100 % A good mix of hoedown and two step. With some line dance in between. 🐎🐎

For me this looks a bit too much like Country living with horses. For me horses, to be interesting, should have plenty of space to gallop around and freely. And why mini lambs and goats. Why not real big ones.

That would be great. But I am afraid they will be tied to their own world

How can they be limited to this world if they are seen as household members? We might get surprised :)

From leaked description: "get new horses by rescuing or purchasing them". RESCUING??? In ts3 we could tame a wild horse, but rescuing sounds a tad more dramatic? Any ideas?

Maybe it's like how you can adopt stay cats/dogs that are wandering around in Brindleton Bay?

Omg!! I am so glad that the rumours were true about the goats and sheep, and looking at the screenshots, all the animals are so adorable!! I'm sure I'll be adding this to my collection! <3

I hope it all ties in with the animal lover trait from Cottage Living and wool with Nifty Knitting. They've been good at thinking about cross pack compatibility recently though. Really excited for a desert world as they are often quite pretty also.

I do wonder what kind of craftables we will be able to make with the sheep wool. I saw one of the horses had small cowboy hat, maybe we will be able to make hats for them, or some blankets.

SO excited for this EP! According to the official leaked description we can use horse manure as a fertilizer for plants and fruits etc...YAY for more gardening options and improvements! Now if only they could make one more Kit but instead it will be a gameplay Kit with that Sims 3 Store Gardening Station object, I really want that in my game...gardening is one of the best features in The Sims 4, as well as the Off-the-grid stuff, this will work perfectly with Eco Living and Cottage Living as well as Tiny Living, I always love to make Tiny Homes that produce eggs, electricity, water, plants, flowers etc...also cautiously very excited for Nectar Making!! Finally it's coming to The Sims 4! I am praying they remembered to add new plants and fruits, maybe the Meloire grapes and the other ones from Sims 3 World Adventures EP... <3 and obviously I am TOO HYPED for the main features: Horses!! And the goats and sheep make me explode with joy and excitement, omg how cute they are! Really hoping for cross-pack gameplay additions with Cottage Living and Eco Lifestyle! <3

I agree that we need an object like this, but it should really come as part of the EP, not as an extra kit.

Ideally it would also have cross-pack functionality so that we could compost cat and dog poo as well as horses. Maybe even the muck from cleaning out the cow and chicken objects.

It just occurred to me, after rereading the pack description, that ranch hands are probably something like butlers. At first I thought they'd be something like a maid or a scheduled maid. And maybe that's an option. Bc, and this is from my limited understanding as a city slicker who's never worked on a farm before but has at times read books that included them (and is also from America so obvi has seen media about cowboys and farmers at some point); but from my understanding you can have a PT ranchhand /farm worker who comes at a set time and leaves. Sometimes they stay a set amount of days and leave for a bit. And there's like a place for them to sleep. And then there's the ones who live-in.
This is where my knowledge is murky. I've seen media where they live above the stables, in a room to the side of the stables, and in like a long dorm situation on the property if there's a lot and a stable manager. Either way I'm thinking this new service sim is likely, or myb just possibly, gonna exist in an entirely new mixed position. Like it'll be the same name, but available in 3 categories. And myb even allow you to hire multiple.
It might even end up a bit like the Live-In service mods by LittleMsSam and like BetterButler etc. Especially if you have a ranch hand that lives in and then decide to get a butler bc now you're sim is a rich rancher. Or myb they always were and that's the story you're telling.
Like this seems innocuous, and myb I'm making a mountain out of a molehill, but they might actually have to fix things in hiring a service to make this work properly. Just like they'd need to fix household size and controlling pets to make horses work right for families. That's the second feature in this pack that would require actual game fixes for it to really be good. And worth the price. And not cause a bunch of bugs or annoyance. And also another time that a new sims feature seems to take inspiration from the modding company on how to fix things in game (if that's actually how they end up doing it).

Ranch hands would probably most likely be similar to butlers. I suppose you could have ranch hand sims that come daily or on a schedule like the maids and gardeners if they lived elsewhere in the world or were homeless NPCs because not all ranches would have accommodations for the ranch hands (technically that’s true where I board — the horses up in full care have someone come twice a day to muck and feed, I’m down in self-care and do the twice daily routine myself). But then you might have a ranch where they have a bunkhouse or something for the ranch hand(s) so that’s probably similar to what the butler does.

So my limited knowledgeable of how this stuff works was kinda right? Cool. Thanks Saddle Club, and Darcy's Wild Life (and like the westerns my grandpa liked). Lol. But yeah no so we're in agreement it'd likely be like a butler, maybe with daily or recurrent service sim options. Which would allow you to use them in different ways, and tell different stories.

I wonder if, like the fisherman career and gardener careers, it would be one that your sims could do. Rabbit holes style. For the part-time situation. Probably would be a good job for teens.

I do think they'd have to work on that system though. We still have issues calling nannies and them not showing up. We've had Butlers for like more than 4 years right? I just checked they came in Dec 2016, that's almost 7 years. And you still have to be careful not to have them set to do all the tasks they can possibly do. And they're a bit buggy. If ranchhands work on that same type of system it needs fixing before they add something new.
Or you're gonna call for a ranch hand and they won't show up. But then you have to click fire to get a new one. You'll assign them a space, and next thing you know it's an entirely different sim working for you. Etc

Added craftables would be epic. I'd love some a new rug and tapestry wall art or something. Maybe some kind of wollen shirt/jacket. The nifty knitting craftables are really cute but I wouldn't say no to a few more.......

You know, I never actually saw Saddle Club. I grew up reading the books (that and Thoroughbred) but the one brief glimpse I had of it, my first reaction was “that isn’t Virginia”. Apparently it’s filmed in Australia. Huh. Interesting. No wonder it seemed a bit different.
