So it looks like we're getting a horse ranch expansion. People are sharing info about there being sheep and goats as well as horses. And it being a world based on Arizona.
Which is pretty cool. It does kind of put paid to the idea that fairies and horses are being combined in some kind of magical awesomess that leads to Seahorses that are rideable, and unicorns. At least in this pack. But doesn't necessarily mean that once fairies come we won't see unicorns added in, and a mermaid update too.
But this is pretty interesting in it of itself. I wouldn't have minded a non-American world for this. Or even for them to be a bit ambitious if possible and make the different neighborhoods look like different areas in the world where horses have been known to roam and strike dashing figures. Like the plains, desserts, highlands, etc.
But being set in Arizona means that they can give us new harvestables that grow well in hot climates. More peppers (do well even have any?), beans, varieties of tomatoes, squash, they could give us a trellis, tropical fruits that grow well in this area bc it still gets a lot of sun. They could introduce the architectural styles native to the area, along with the types of ranch style stuff you'd see normally.
And that greenhouse kit would probably come in handy here.
One thing I hope, though I kind of doubt would happen, is that they actually increase household size in a stable way. And separate pets from regular sims. Like how in sims 3 the humans were on one axis and the pets were on another when you looked at their portraits? That, but with them each having their own separate household limit size, in the total household limit.
So maybe you can only have like 8 pets total. But you can spay your pets still, and still adopt out any pets you can't keep. I don't know if there’s a function to ask a friend to adopt your extra pet, but if not add it in.
That way if you have say a dog, and you train them to herd the sheep. And that dog has a mate, and they both count as pets. But so do your two horses, and your cat. You're already at 5 pets. And your cat doesn't have a partner yet, and you don't know if they need/want one, or if you want them to have one. But if both your dogs and your horses have children, there's a good chance your cat can't have either children, or a mate. So being able to adopt out extras would be good. But having that separate household count is even better bc otherwise there's only 3 slots for non-pet sims.
Other cool stuff would be about the sheep and goats. Not only would we have new sources of fibers/textiles like wool and cashmere; we'd have more sources of lactose free milk and cheese. Currently we just have the plant milk, and I think soy if you have eco living. But we'd have things like feta, and Greek yogurt, etc. .
As well as more of that wrapped meat like in cottage living. Which means they can introduce more foods from different cultures. Because we'd have goat and mutton. So more types of curry, stews, and things like that could be added to the game.
Heck since it's Arizona they could add cacti, and things like cactus candy, and little succulents that sims could grow inside that level up both the gardening and flower arranging skills, a bit like the bonsai tree.
I think this could be really interesting. I am a little, just a smidge, disappointed that it's not combined with fairies in some super huge fantastical fashion. But really only because that means we're still waiting on news on fairies and that it's likely to be in a game pack. But that's probably for the best. Bc occults that come in expansion packs tend to get crap treatment. Looking at you aliens, mermaids, and I suppose plantsims too (though you were added to basegame).

cause I have been finding it hard to fit all the children of MOTHER in Strangerville
and I could do with extra space
I really wish we had some actual saloon b/b too for my 8 bells saloon so I could replace that GF set
then again still really not sure my computer can take another EP so
guess we will have to see if the horsies are worth the hype and if the leak is even real
I did like horses in ts3 too
one thing I'm not exactly excited for is ranches though I imagine building those in sims is gonna be rather torturous personally
I even struggle to build small one level houses cause they just look so flat in game but huge ranch sounds even more like horror show
do wonder though if they included stuff like motorcycles with this ep or something that could be a thing

I would love to see goats, sheep, more crops, fruit trees, recipes from the southwest. I would have loved to see an Australia style world lots of ranch and farming over there.
I think we will eventually see fairies in a game pack maybe this fall. I hope they drop a video hint soon for the pack.
If this does turn out to be true though, there are a few things I am hoping for.
* Lots of activities with horses, including learning to ride, learning to jump, learning dressage; lounging and such.
* Breeding horses
* Tending to wild horses
* Jobs connected to this - cowboy, riding instructor, show jumper
* New aspirations for different ages connected to the region and animals (kids, teens, ya-elders)
* Cross pack combabilities: vet skills being applied to horses (and other animals); Fame for those who compete with horses; Lots of objects that can be put on sale in a shop; Milestones being added that connects to horses and learning how to ride; club activities based on the pack...
* Some native american representation both in pre-mades, clothes and decor and architecture
* Some festivals or communal events tied either to horses (like horse shows, show jumping...) or the local culture.
But horses? I'm happy for that! Just hope they aren't world centric, because, as I said, I don't like desert worlds. And I hope they aren't tied to a rabbithole like many of the animals in the Cottage Living EP. Also, please have unicorns! PLEASEEEEEE. The only occult I care about.
But I'm glad to get a desert world with some life to it. Oasis Spring was so dry that it limited what you could reasonably build in the world. StrangerVille was way too small to make a functional, self-contained neighborhood.
Hahaha, pun.
I'm most excited about sheep and goats, but only if we can keep them like pets, or as farm animals. If they're just off-lot things that we have to go out of our way to interact with (like birds, rabbits and foxes,) then that would cut down on their utility and make it harder to bond with them. Or even worse, they're just set dressing that we can only look at. I'm so tired of only being able to look at cool things.
EDIT: As for other wants, I've said it before, but I crave horse training and racing. I want to bond with my horses and grow alongside them. I want another way to have my sims practice a sport and make money. Ranching and raising horses should be a big, immersive and deep experience.
The Sims 4 hasn't introduced a new musical instrument since 2017

But Based on what microscopic information we know of this pack I was thinking more of like red dead redemption 2 👀
That would be an awesome wild west sims pack.
Maybe we get agave plant as harvestable and then can make agave syrup and agave fire water.
I don't think they would add fairies in a pack about horse ranches. We might get a unicorn though.
Whatever it comes with, I'm thrilled by the idea of a horses pack. I cannot wait for the official announcement.
In any case, I really hope they do this pack justice. Growing Together was a huge disappointment (The gameplay and content wasn't enough for an EP and It probably could have just been in a free update, imo).
I'm really hoping that the horses and any other animals will not be tied to rabbit holes like in Cottage Living. I hope we get a new career/profession, are able to breed horses, wash and groom them, train them, children can ride horses, horses can interact with other pets, etc.
An Arizona-like world could have lots of native influence. There are about twenty Native American tribes in Arizona currently.
Horses coming in expansion pack has to be freed ofc and roam everywhere and they interact with other animals
Don't forget they'll add unicorns cuz it's their only chance to add because unicorns have same size as horses and won't require different animations..
A Pegasus would be so flipping cool. I was mostly hoping for a unicorn bc all they'd have to do is add a horn. I tried not to hope for a Pegasus bc honestly, I feel like they'd mess it up or say they can't do it. Like we have flying brooms but, and maybe this is just bc I don't use them much; I haven't in my game, or when watching others, seen smooth continuous flight with one. Rather like when mermaids swim, at best you get like a few sim minutes of good movement before it ends abruptly.
Mermaids either wade or just get out the water. Spellcasters seem to fall a lot. Not sure which side of the equation a flying horse would land on, especially with a sim on them. But if they did it well, it'd be amazing. It'd be even cooler if they let unicorns and pegasi breed, so you had a flying unicorn, or a horned pegaus, whichever. Also binicorns.

I would support seeing more Indigenous representation in the Sims. I'm a little worried that they might not do enough research for it. And then either upset people, or decide not to include it at all, which would also bother people. It's like what happens every time they do inclusion. In the beginning they just assumed they knew what they were doing and they didn't.
That's why all the skintones had small ranges, and the undertones were awful for darker skintones. And the hair for people with thicker coilier hair types was awful. So then they started reaching out to black simmers. And eventually started doing better. But before that I had to use custom skintones just to make sims that looked anything like they should.
And when they started doing more LGBTQIA+ inclusion it was a long process, and they finally reached out to one group. But managed to still have bumps in the process, and haven't fixed the coding for pronouns even for the 3 sets they put in as base ones. So if you use they/them pronouns the sentences still are messed up.
Whenever they add in anything about a marginalized group it's often small acts of inclusion that can be looked at as tiny aspects of the culture. Things that you can point at and say, "look they gave us/you that so be happy I guess." It's not necessarily a great way of doing things, but we get that it's effort. But I also don't think that sort of half-hearted effort would go over well when bringing in native culture.
Sim world isn't supposed to be America, but they keep making it America, or the Americas. If they're gonna bring in culture from the people who literally lost their land to colonization and somehow have that in this, without offending anyone, but also have it be applicable to a sim world without colonization, they've got to actually do more than they've done so far.
And like they could've started this when they did Jungle Adventurers. They had Selvadorada. With the ancient temple, and the cultural studies, and the sims from there who only live there. They could've made it a world that was livable and vacationable when they made that update for other worlds to be vacation spots. They could've started working on what they were doing.
Heck they could've just made 2 free world's that were copies of the two vacation worlds in terms of environment and had those be the cities in that area. Granite Falls is the vacation world, and Granite Hills be where everyone lives. And has some of the same harvestables. Selvadorada is still where are the temples and excitement is. And then a second city be where the capital is. And there you learn more about the culture and the people. And since it's just a copy of Newcrest with the imagery and harvestables of each of those worlds, there'd be enough space for townies and for your own sims.
But idk that they'd do the work to actually bring these things into the game properly. Which is why I figured they'd maybe do the architecture at best. Because that's easier to put in the game without having to go further and risk backfire. I mean they literally didn't want to put a giant tree in GrwT but had skyscrapers in City Living. Couldn't put a broken mill in Werewolves, but we have a bunch of fake buildings everywhere. And they still haven't fixed the family tree. I just don't trust them to do the due diligence it would take, no matter how wonderful it would be.
However I wouldn’t mind a Colorado or Jamestown world.😛
Or better yet an historic Fort Edmonton or Saskatchewan world.😍
If we are getting horses I really hope we get the TS3 rocking horse back for kids.
Finally, the Sims I made based on equestrian/rodeo athletes, wranglers/ranchhands, and quite a few more things can have horses.
I am also VERY curious as to the sizes of the lots (which have to be huge), the premade Sims (as well as their horses), the architecture, and most importantly, the CAS. Near the top of the list--a better-looking Stetson, chaps, and better-looking modern Western shirts.
