African is huge, and it's not all safari, jungle, desert. I want a pack about living in Africa, like a bustling city - Lagos, Accra, Nairobi, Kigali.
I want the food, music, sports, and high-end fashion of urban Africa. I want acacia trees and tall grass.
We only ever see Morocco and Egypt represented in The Sims. And when Africa is brought up, safaris take center stage. Programming a game pack about safaris isn't what I want - that's too similar to a Jungle Adventure and Cottage Living combo.
I just want a pack about anything substantial that happens to be in African. Like how a snowboarding, mountain climbing pack happened to be in Japan. How a university pack happened to be in England. How a generations pack happened to be in San Francisco.
Plus. Just one sub-saharan African world.

Safari could be just one neighbuhood, not the whole world. They could make it like Gilberts Garden and you walk around in it and see the animals, maybe they could add an animal sanctuary for big cats or some other big animals. I must say that I am not familiar with what goes on on the continent except for what reaches mainstream news and that's not always positive, like they could give us pirates and Nigerian princes that need our help to transfer their funds. Also more witchcraft and monkey packs that steal your food and the chance you're late for work because there were lions sleeping on the road. But I would really prefer that they give us something that is a well known feature of Africa instead of generic urban setting because we might not get another African world after that.
That's African only because the cast is all black, I don't see EA doing that.
Erh... what, now? That's an odd thing to say. That's like saying Braveheart is only Scottish because of all the white people.
I don't see Africa in the trailer, only some futuristic world that could be anywhere. I thought people wanted an African inspired world, and what's in that movie is not Africa. We could have Braveheart in that world but it would not be Braveheart.
Ah. So I'm guessing you didn't see the movies, then.
Afrofuturism is such a good idea! Like Wakanda, a mix of intense technology, but also unspoiled landscapes and traditionally inspired clothing and artwork would be amazing!!!
Also I need fufu, jollof, injera, and all the foods.
For the world, I'm really not a big fan of US suburban small town vibe. I like urban worlds, so a bustling colorful city would definitely be something I'm interested in, at least just a neighborhood. And perhaps a swimmable sea side including a whale watching activity? It's something you can definitely do in Africa but not necessarily what most people think of - also it's on my bucket list xD
anyways, @KathMHughes what careers do you think would fit?
I immediately thought of Animal Conservatorship, but of course that's real close with the safari thing, which as you said is really just very typical so I was wondering what else could make sense.
I'd love to see financial stuff like a new lot type called a bank that comes with a banking career.
Also a gemstone and diamond expert, a jewelry cutter, a pottery activity, or other artisan crafts like weaving.
I really want a musical pack and bands, so a band manager would be great.
Conservative has been done in 2 EPs already, but cross pack compatibility is good..
true, but if we are to have African world I think at least one neighborhood should be Safari inspired because it would offer lots of interesting outdoorsy gameplay and build fun regardless of how "typical" its never really been theme in The Sims yet
the world should probably have at least 3 neighborhoods anyway so it would make perfect sense for it to be
Safari (outdoorsy+residential+adventure think like wildlife and couple lots to live/camp on)
x
City/town (culture, public, maybe part residential, more so indoors activities)
x
Jungle (more so residential jungle less so extreme adventure jungle since we have jungle adventure already)
also cars etc would be lovely addition as they could be part of the city/town and way to get place to place around the safari fast
and lot traits and challenges could help with making the jungle and safari parts bit more wild or dangerous if wanted
I think desert, I would make entirely separate pack and world on though something like "desert adventure" that appeals more to whole egypt and deep sandy dangerous deserts thing although obviously now that we can vacation everywhere i would make it residential world as well
there i think we could have more so the artisan town and marketplaces feel
where the safari worlds city could be more so modern african city inspired therefore getting the best of both worlds
hotels? unsure but honestly it might make more sense to have hotels pack or even more so update at this point
I find it hard to imagine how they would do hotels in pack because we do have dine out and hotels would have to support also having a restaurant in them
it just might make most sense if it was base game update so any venue could include hotel

True, I think this was also an issue with Mt Korembi. They focused more on one country and then included things offensive to other countries.
On the other hand. This is what a lot of packs have done so far. Tortosa was a mixture of Mediterranean/southern Europe vibes. San Myshuno was a mixture of different metropolitan cities across the globe. Sulani was a mix of different islands. El Saldorado (?) was a mix of south American countries.
I feel something that combines different African cultures/places into something where other players feel more represented is a good idea. Of course it has to be done carefully. But this is also why I do think combinations are great. When it is inspired by different similar cultures, then there's less pinpointing on how precisely it reflects one culture.
I personally would love some African inspired fashion and just a completely different world that is nothing like US suburban or old European style (heck, give me different parts of Europe - but that's for another thread). We have plenty suburbs, we have jungles and northern nature, we have one desert, and some metropolian/industrial ones. I'm up for some variety.
Exactly. We need tall grasslands. Savannahs. Prairies. Steppes. For as much as people talk about snow depth and realistic sand, I'm tired of the grass in Sims looking like a mowed lawn. I want lush, wildflower meadows, wheat fields, somewhere the bison the roam or the lions could prowl.
And I think an African World would be great, something different we don’t have. Please give us one we can live in. It still bothers me that I can’t have sims live in Silvadorado.
I think one of the neighborhoods could offer a safari trip to look at animals ( maybe when CAR’s make a comeback😉 ). But, I’d also like to see other aspects of Africa as well. I have never been to the continent. Maybe the Nile river could play a part in the pack as well.
If we are never going to be able to live in Silvadorado, then please give us a central or South American Jungle world we can live in too before ending sims 4 worlds.
Scotland is real, Wakanda is fictional. And they cast black people in Braveheart.
I personally don’t particularly want an African world, I’d rather they did Eastern Europe. But to be honest we have plenty of worlds now and the last few have been so lacklustre that I’d rather they just focused on gameplay.
As for careers I think an African world would work well with a hotell pack, and could have several different careers tied to that, but I also like the suggestion of a conservationist career focused on this new world as well. And yes, safari might feel a bit typical, yet it is an important part of the economy of many African countries and it would offer a lot of game play, both watching the animals and caring for them).
I also like pottery and weaving being included, and I'd love to add a fashion designer career, maybe with sewing as a skill as well? That would give us three new hobbies/job opportunities and one additional career. The career would also match other careers we have in the game.
I also love the idea of a world that contains both a city-part, and a rural part, so either aspect can be represented.
