Hi,
Journey To Batuu proved that it's possible for the sims to travel outside The Sims basic universe (Present time with occult "alterations").
TS3 Store also introduced some themes like medieval (Dragon Valley), future (Lunar Lakes) and 1920s (Roaring Heights).
The Sims 4 could be a bigger universe like Lego and Barbie and allow time travel.
- Ancient Greece (Mythology)
- Ancient Egypt (Mummy)
- Bronze Age (Celtic culture and druid)
- High Middle Ages (Vikings)
- Medieval (Fairy tale)
- Feudal Japan (Samurai and ninja)
- Renaissance
- Victorian era (Steampunk)
- 1920s
- 1950s
- Future (Cyberpunk, lunar colony, ...)

There's so many of us that love playing in various themes (historical/futuristic/occult).... this type of pack has been in hot demand for years. I really really miss having those types of fun features from the previous iterations.
Unfortunately, the Sims 4 has far too much realism (diapers, dishes, and dirty laundry) and far too less fantastical frolics (magic, mystery, and mischief).
Previous iterations ensured we had a good balance of both.... But this time around? Not even close. And that's a real shame for a huge percentage of its long-time player base. Me being one of them.

Since you mentioned JtB, this is actually how I'd set up a time travel GP. The three regions could be Egypt, Rome and either Gaul/Germania/Brittania in Caesar's time, each with a corresponding faction that the player could join.
