I am curious as to what others think about having a costume category. I play rotationally and at times I want to have a costume party or want to see my sims in certain outfits at comic con/geek con, or whatever they call it in city living. When sims show up to costume parties and things they are totally wearing something I would not pick for them to wear, so I would love to see a costume category for such things ( including trick or treating for kids ) plus with a costume category they can wear outfits that we make in the category for them ( even if they aren’t considered real costumes ) as well. I’m wondering what others think about this idea…..
There is a costume category in CAS under full-body outfits! But I don't know how the game pulls from that category and/or others to make situational outfits for costume parties etc.
I wonder if one of the situational outfit mods out there would do what you want.
I've had themed parties before where I invited other sims I play rotationally, and I handled the themed outfit by making the other sims additional outfits in the party category ahead of time. Some sims showed up in those, and for others I was able to use testingcheats on and shift-click to dress them in the outfit I wanted.
It would have been easier at the time to just replace their party outfit with the themed outfit in CAS, so that they'd show up in the themed outfits by default, but I didn't want to go through the work later of reconstructing their original party outfits.
I don't know why they give us so many costumes to choose from in CAS if they aren't going to let us set their costume preference. I have been wanting this for years.

I have been begging for this for a while.
Part of my teen sim/YA game play is Cosplaying. I have to use their party category to keep their cosplay outfits and I ask to see Party Outfit whenever cosplay clubs hang out at their lot hangouts. I wish there was a costume category so I don't have sims wearing odd outfits when they at dance clubs.
Before getting Seasons, I used the hot and cold weather categories to set my sims' costumes and things like their work clothes for gardening. I really miss those ten extra slots.
Especially for Geek Con it would be extremely useful if we could set a costume for each sim or tick a "this sim won't cosplay" box. I'm aware that I can pause the game and use MCDresser to instantly change every sim in the world in costumes I set for them in advance, but it is a bit tedious.
I'd love a category for costumes. I'd also love more clothing slots, period. I tend to add extra outfits into the formal or party categories, since my sims don't generally need those slots.
I'd love a few new categories and subcategories either to add a new category or make an existing one more easily navigated. Also I'm implying a few new things I'd love to see.
