Buildable Apartments?

A recent discussion on Reddit has me curious how many players would like the option to create their own apartments.

I use them for students and single sims, 6x5 is enough for them.
it would be nice if Maxis could bring back the system from TS2 EP8 Apartment Life and add building shells like TS3 EP03 Late Night.
I wouldn't call 6x5 an apartment and might be useful on one occasion or two, but I wouldn't want them as a general apartment size. They are definitely not enough for a family and very often families live in apartments not just the suburbs. What I liked about the TS2 apartments, was the possibility to move in several similar households and have them use the common space area. Single sims got basektabll or swimming pool, family sims got a playground, sims could live next door to siblings, parents, love interest, etc. The current apartments are badly designed, you can't change the windows and their placement, sometimes you can't create rooms with a window and then there are the invisible roaches and mouse holes that you can't reach to spray or place trap if you place a wall or furniture over them. This wouldn't be a problem if it were possible to edit them or to create our own apartment buildings.
You can lock door (by sim name) and unlock them occasionally when you want to let somebody go inside one apartment.
I have done this too with the roommate system but if I want to do whole families, I can’t do that. It messes up my bills.
And yea people have wanted apartments since City Living when they realized we couldn't make any changes to the exterior of the buildings.
But, I want the ability to build any type of multi-family truly functional home! Not just "apartments" but duplexes/doubles, town homes, large Victorian homes that have been split up into 4 small units, beachy apartments that are raised up on stilts for Sulani, "Ski Lodges" grouped on one lot, etc. Small Neighborhoods that have separate "houses" on 1 large 64x64 lot, etc. These are the types of apartments I want to build in addition to true apartments that are multi-floor with actual apartments on each floor.
If EA is unable (or refuses) to give players this ability, that's okay, cause I'm pretty sure another life will come along and be more than willing to accommodate the player's wishes.

Yeah, this exactly. I am useless building from scratch, but I love renovating, and I want more apartments!
its just not very functional with 8 sim household limit and shoving different households in one household only to then feel overwhelmed trying to control them all
vampires do somewhat help though since they can hibernate therefore if i want to just play one of the households on my "apartment lot" i can hibernate the rest
