Infants not going in crib

jasasimsjasasims Posts: 77 Member
I can not put my infants in cribs, they keep snapping to that little baby rug they lay on. When I Googled the issue it seemed to be a problem with a certain cc crib which I never had. I'm thinking its just a glitch at this point, but was wondering if anyone else was having the problem and what were you doing to get your infant sleep in the meantime?

Things I saw in the past were putting the item in home inventory and taking it out. Or buying a new one. did you try all the new cribs? What about the portable one?

Delete your LocalThumbCache and repair your game. And take a look at your CC folder and see if you have any other CC cribs. Another thing to investigate is if all of your mods are updated. Above all else, make sure your Sim has a clear path to the crib or if there is a wall hanging or shelf above the crib. If all of that doesn't fix your issue here is the link to the EA Help Center https://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-4/ct-p/the-sims-4-en. I hope you get it sorted out. :)

Ok for tonight I just did an experiment. In new saves ( Two new saves with two new families, one of which was glitched in another save ) everything works with all of my cc. ( I do not have any cc infant items besides appearance cc that have been updated for the patch. ) I will try the above tomorrow when my brain can think. LOL Thank you!

Do you have any pets? My sims kept putting the infant down when I was trying to put her in the crib and it turned out it was because she kept wanting to sleep next to the cat when she was tired. Had to start canceling that out to prevent it from interfering with putting her in the crib.

whatever you do don't let infant get so sleepy they try to nap autonomously give them naps on playmat etc while they're still half energy things be much easier

also whenever infant snooze or has full needs immediately fill your other sims needs even if they're still relatively high

if all needs are red for your infant fill energy first then feed then wait for poopoo and bathe

when super hungry don't even bother with highchair just bottle feed them

anyway what i was trying to say was don't let infant go on red they'll try to autonomously beg for things and then all sims are just going to get all tangled in their interactions

This is a bad screenshot I took on my phone when it happened, but you get the idea. She couldn't crawl yet and the cat is aloof and rarely near anyone. So it was a lengthy process for her to get there each time. Hey, kid, if you want to sleep on the kitchen floor, then whatever floats your boat, lol.

I now try to make most of the floors soft looking with carpet so at least the poor babies can be a bit comfortable sleeping on the floor. :'(;)

I also still have this problem. Does not seem to be related to a CC, and I tried different cribs too. They just snap to the floor and bug out. Everyone says CC is the problem but I don't have the CC they are talking about. :(

I had to just start a new save. All my same cc and on occasion the infants glitch, but for the most part they work. When I first posted this on my old save I didnt have any options for my infants. I could pick up the infants but that was it. And I am playing with the exact same family just in a brand new save.

Should something like this occur again, and you've pulled your Mods folder just to be certain nothing in there is the culprit, and it continues to happen, do a game repair.

Thank you. I do need to do that. I was anxious about playing with infants and am very attached to that specific family. So I will try that.

I had a similar issue but it wasn't the crib. I had one sim parent who could interact with the infant fully, but the other parent had very limited options, could only upgrade the crib, not place the infant in it, etc.

What happened was that after aging up from Newborn to Infant, the parent that didn't do the 'age up' interaction, had to be Introduced to the infant by the other parent. After that, all the full options were available. I think it might be a gameplay glitch, because both parents had a high relationship with the newborn. So it doesn't really make sense for a child to forget its own mother just because of a birthday.

I was of the impression my particular save was glitched, but now everything beyond that Save As is also having the Infant problem. I will do a game folder reset and make yet another copy of the back up before I sally forth. I'm so very frustrated at the moment I could chew nails. I tried to find a thread over on the help thread, but nothing of this sort has been reported. The Infant slides through the rails of their crib to become trapped between the caregiver's feet. There is no interactions going on unless you count the fact that the Infant gets dragged across the ground or floor or whatever. This wasn't happening in my game initially. It only began, to my knowledge, when I tried a game save recovery to try to have a proper birthday party for the first born. GAGH.

@IndiiAna That is a bug, and is on the new Laundry List so hopefully fixed soon :)

It seems to happen more often with parents who are famous or have the Beloved reward trait from the Friend of the World aspiration. So in the meantime, before it is fixed, you could try temporarily stepping your sims out of the spotlight or removing the Beloved trait with cheats, if that applies to your sims.
