Are we not getting a family tree update with growing together?

I've been watching some older legacy challenges that I hadn't watched before, going from the beginning to the most recent. And in doing so, you see a lot of the bugs, and features that simmers have dealt with over the years. Even for let's plays that started a year or so ago.
The family tree, and family dynamics are obviously a big part of that. And I realized I hadn't heard any clarification about family trees since the first info came out about growing together. So I decided to Google it, to see if I missed anything.
And on the official blog post from EA, that came out earlier in the year, it had an edit about it:
"(A note for clarity from The Sims team as of 2/6/2023) The Sims family tree is a functionality that already exists in game. In an earlier version of this article, this sentence stated that the family tree will reflect more complex family relationships."

It was in the section that reflects what we now know as the family dynamics feature. So is that meant to say they aren't going to fix the family tree? Just because it exists doesn't mean that it works well. I hadn't gone back to this article since before they added this line to it, so I had thought it was two new functionalities. Fixing the family tree bugs so that sims know their family members and can reflect complex relationships. And whatever the new dynamics they were teasing would be.
I don't mean to be a downer. But if we're only getting the new dynamics with the 4 options we saw, and you aren't fixing it so that sims know their close family members even if they aren't in the same household, are aware of their cousins, etc; I'm going to feel like this isn't really all it's been built up to be. At least that aspect. But if anyone has info that we are getting this fix I'd really love to hear it.

I don’t want to be negative, but that original teaser with tree and the family portraits.. and then the tree imagery and name of city only for there to be both no tree or family tree update is a little bit misleading.
Who knows maybe they’re saving it for a surprise but wouldn’t get hopes up. I still think the pack will be great.
