Can you get better builders that are lesser known to be doing builds in packs?

It doesn't matter to me who does the builds. If I use the house, I gut it. I like to build, but I have a terrible time with roofs. Yes, I know there are tutorials, but I don't want to spend the time watching them. So I tend to keep the shell and redo the interior. They usually have too much clutter for my taste, regardless of the builder. There are houses that I have only looked at once and then completely ignored. I may not have liked them, but I haven't had time or inclination to update them.

It does seem, however, that some gamechangers are more equal than others. But my opinion is that since the whole program is a marketing tool, why wouldn't you use it to market to the largest audience possible.

I enjoy these gamechangers but also I've seen them play and they're almost always in speed 3 which does not grand faith in their ergonomics vision. Except James Turner, I've watched his Werewolf builds videos and it was really good.

I think the dumb sims AI should always be the common thread for builds, but it doesn't happen a lot. Like putting something because it "looks good" but it ends up being a nuisance in gameplay.

I get what you’re saying, I keep hearing the same names and seeing the same kind of builds. I consider it to be both convenience & “celebrity” branding, nothing else.

Then again, I don’t pay too much attention to it. I’m a builder and personally I don’t really care.
I look at the builds, acknowledge that they’re there, appreciate their brief existence in my game….and then I tear ‘em all down. ALL OF THEM!!
    DOOOOWN!!! 😈

I then continue to replace them with my nomoo spaceships and other cursed dwellings.

The devs should visit the forums for a change. We’ve got plenty of talented builders on here. Take yer pick.
Surely this place can’t be worse than Twatter.
    Fair enough~

I'm sure the majority will tear builds down or re-do them to suit their liking. :)

Yeah, probably less of a headache swimming through various twitter feed. Kinda wish we could have more of an official thread to highlight other builders to them.

You're right, I have no idea why I added Growing Together on his... His should only be Snowy Escape and Werewolves, there shouldn't be a third one. Apologies for the confusion.

It's interesting looking at the list in plain view though, there's a number of them that I had forgotten about.... I totally forgot Simproved built that awesome crane house in the Eco Lifestyle pack. I still love that build.

I tend to renovate and/or bulldoze the majority of builds to suit my own tastes and playstyle more times than not, so for me it's neither here nor there who makes the builds. I just hope that the above list continues to grow longer as time goes on and more packs keep coming out. This game changer collaboration thing has only been in practice starting with Eco Lifestyle, and since we apparently still have 'many years' left of the Sims 4, I have no doubt that the names on that collab list will indeed keep growing.

I guess my preference is to give the devs/gurus the benefit of the doubt, since we have no idea what truly goes on behind the scenes, nor do we have any idea what other packs are currently in the making and which game changers are working on those.

There are plenty of things about EA's practices and policies that anger me to no end... but this isn't one of them. *shrug*

EA builds in the past haven't been perfect in TS4 either. I think some people are forgetting or maybe never noticed but there's been houses and community lots missing doors, toilets, paint, and mismatched roofing. Not a huge deal but I kind of expect the build to be complete. I don't care either way honestly but whoever builds the lot should remember the basics before it's shipped off with the pack.

I will say James Turner did an amazing job building for the Werewolves pack. I may have seen Devon Bumpkins videos suggested to me in the past but I never really checked out their channel until they built for Cottage Living.

I prefer houses built by EA. They are much simpler for me to make a few changes here and there to customize to my liking. I agree that popular Simmers overcomplicate the builds, which I'm not a fan of.

On another note, I was on the gallery recently and noticed that lilsimsie has like one of the top 5 most popular builds on the gallery of all time. That's pretty amazing. I do like the one she built for the new pack because it seems simple. She did a video discussing the restrictions she had to follow.

Interestingly enough, EnglishSimmer did a video review on the new pack and mentioned that one of the homes (I believe the one lilsimsie built) has some type of error on the second floor where the walls don't fully disappear or something do to with the roof. Idk how that kinda thing slips by.

i would also really like to see greater diversity in who they choose to build for packs! i know that, from a marketing perspective, it makes more sense to have well-known builders work on packs. i get that. but as a player who owns every pack (except for jtb) & nearly every kit, i'm tired of the same-old, same-old. i want someone new, something fresh. i want others who can build just as well as (often better than) the big names to get the same opportunities that they get.

When they are dealing with the same handful of people over and over, they know that they can quickly update the same old contract and get coroporate approval easily, they know that those builders are likely to actually abide by the terms of those contracts (confidentiality, timely completion for deadlines, etc.), and they know that those builders can follow instructions and take direction. Also, let's not underestimate the importance of being pleasant to work with: if you have to choose between someone you know will respond pleasantly and professionally to feedback, someone you know probably won't, and someone for whom you have absolutely no idea, most people are going to choose the first option.

Yeah, this was immediately where my mind went as well and I think it accounts for quite a large part of the reason they dip into the same pool so often.
