I didn't take a pic of it, but my Sims at prom were dancing back to back with their arms around each other and everything. It was pretty funny looking.

I mostly ignore the clipping errors now, but I admit, often still gives me a chuckle. ;)

So a while back I got a notif Kaylie was about to freeze to death and I didn't want her to die taking too long to get from the pool to inside so I teleported her... but she was still swimming and is a mermaid so the result was:

And when she tried to go down the stairs she just kinda... fell:

After getting her out of there and using the "sit on ground" action out of curiosity:

Then she autonomously went to grab food and it was like that classic gif of a Sim in I think Sims 1 or 2 swimming through the floor, popping up to open the door, and then returning to swimming in the ground (though I didn't catch a pic of her grabbing it):

@KestrelDC Actually, do not teleport a Sim that has been swimming. That causes that swimming glitch. Get the Sim out of the water first. Also, if you do use teleport for whatever reason, move the Sim somewhere (even just a tile away) first before doing any other action. Or they could go back to the spot where teleport from first before doing the new action.
I'm guessing the teleport was put in to get a Sim out of a stuck spot.

I used reset object on her after a bit and it got her out of this mode. I just let it play out for a bit for fun and out of curiosity.

FYI: The swimming in the ground is from TS2.

@KestrelDC Yeah, if you try to teleport merfolk while they are swimming, they continue to swim through the ground. Never thought of sharing that discovery because I figured out how to work around it.

A lot of bugs with merfolk, maybe most of them, come from the “MerWoke” Mechanic. It’s the thing built into the game that is supposed to hide merfolk from sims that don’t know they exist.

Supposedly, it makes them swim in their human form while playing a different household. The entire mechanic is severely broken though. Not only does it not work as intended (you can see their tail regardless of the household you are playing) but it’s also probably why the swimming glitch still exists (merfolk swimming freestyle like humans instead of the butterfly stroke with their tails). I think an update has them autonomously go on land because that does reset the swimming animation, but that’s not really a fix for the real problem.

Anyways, I’m not sure if I have any current screenshots, but merfolk generate new outfits when there isn’t one linked to their human form. Merfolk Forms are limited to only 5 outfits. When I tried to create different outfits in their merform, but not in their human form. The game gave them random townie outfits because their human form only had 1 outfit. For every swim outfit in their mermadic form, you also need to create an outfit in their human form.

Given the vanilla mechanics for merfolk, I’m actually kinda surprised that I’m not seeing the clipping and other oddities here. They still very much exist. I might have to intentionally recreate some of them in the near future.

Yes, but I had hoped that when the Devs said they were including things from the other iterations of the game, they didn't mean the glitches and bugs. LOL OI!

Probably said that because I referenced a gif earlier and said I didn't remember which one the gif was from.

The funniest swimming glitches I’ve seen are celebrities walking on water, townies swimming through the ground after using the open water ladder, and merfolk running on water instead of swimming.

Those were interesting oddities and clipping.

The one time a sim started swimming through the ground after trying to use the open water ladder. I had a merperson sing a siren song and pull them underwater. Because the ability is non-lethal, it caused the human townie to swim for the open water ladder because all their needs were depleted. Once she climbed up the ladder, she had a bladder failure and then tried to use the ladder again to go swimming… the location of the lot forces sims to swim if they want to leave the lot… that townie still didn’t die from drowning, embarrassment, or starvation… she must’ve started by improving her social and fun needs because she was talking to other townies after having an accident.

Another instance of water front ladders causing sims to swim through the ground was a beach lot in Ohan’Ali town… not exactly sure about what caused that…

@KestrelDC Do you have any cc cribs in your mod folder? If so remove them. I was told Pandasama's Toddler crib was also a culprit in this disturbing glitch. My entire save got fouled because of it (I deleted it before I learned this tidbit). I made another copy of my backup save, that I am now playing as a result. I may have to remove a couple of the written accounts of my story, so that they fit the 'new' timeline, as it's shaping up.

Good luck. I find this glitch horrific.

No, I'm playing vanilla ATM. The animation just got messed up for a bit. Using Reset Object fixed it.
