I really hope we don't get a dentist career.

Events associated with family such as life events like funerals or family get togethers or reunions. More family drama included with the moods system and wants and fears, more family tree options in create a sim, such as step brothers and sisters, fiancé, etc. more in game challenges presented such as sibling rivalry. An old folks home for the elderly or some kind of old folks community home. Elder events such as bingo. More family interactions that cause drama or fun. A new career that pertains to family such as a family therapist maybe. A memory system and family book that keeps track of sims big life events, a lot of these would have to do with family and those closest to them. A bio for each individual sim you can write. In case you quit playing and forget what your purpose was for creating them. Sims recognizing family members as being family and not just a friend or another sim. I’m hoping for something new for each life stage that adds gameplay.

Being able to write a bio would be amazing. If I forget who my sims were I just start a new game. I can't go back to old saves at all.

    What Do I Expect?
Maybe more for children and a dentist career.

    What I'm hoping for
    Hopscotch
    Slides
See Saws that adults can use as well
New Lot Types aka Cinemas,Zoos,Aquarium Exibits etc.
    Midlife Crisis
New Family Relations in CAS and to include boy/girlfriend
    Romance interactions in bed.
More romantic poses for our phone cameras. There aren't enough.
Online Dating and Attaction and Chemistry. Generations Gameplay can include sims dating and falling in love.
Swimmable Oceans or Lakes in the new world and waterfalls as well especially massave ones like Niagara Falls.

Your comment on bf/gf made me think of a lot. I ended up posting it in a different thread but I did bring it over here now.

People are thinking so much about what's to come, it's awesome. Someone I saw went off the idea of more family options in the drop-down of CAS, and was like "bf/gf"would be good. And it would. We had that in other games but not this one right? We just recently got fiance.

But what about "partner" and "spouse/life-partner"? Or even adding "platonic life-partner"? We're getting more lgbtqia+ rep in the game, slowly but surely. They haven't finished adding all the features in. And now they are doing a family round of packs and stuff. I think this would be a great time to start implementing some of the things they promised. So that you can reflect more types of families in game.

I liked that you could start sims off in relationships in the Sims 3. But the only relationship this game recognized for so long was marriage, in CAS. So even if you spent 2 hours making a pair of sims. They got into the world and didn't even know each other. And either you had to cheat, or spend the next few hours making them love each other. When you could've been doing other things. Like getting into the game. And if they were meant to already be engaged, even longer. Especially if their personalities were meant to be opposites that attracted, easier said that done at times.

I always found it weird what things they decided to keep out of the game, even after so many updates and years. But maybe we'll get more back in this pack. Even more than we've ever had before. That would be amazing. Isn't that what this game was supposed to be originally? A massive improvement? Not just an iteration that runs easier, or used to, on your average laptop. But a step up in all ways from the previous; while still letting you enjoy what came before, and having its essence?

I say all that to say, it'd be really cool if we got to have sims be partners/bf/gf from the get go. If "Platonic Life Partners" could be introduced along with "Spousec and maybe capital "P" "Partners", to go with 'Husband' and 'Wife'. If maybe they started working on those pronouns more in time for the family reunion so that even great-aunt Mildred can get them right (And so that she shows up properly in the family tree as a great-aunt). If gender dynamics are properly added to the game. I doubt they'd bring in poly at this point. But it'd be nice.

I think if we're talking familiar bonds, then we're also talking about the people who make up those families, and the various types of bonds that can exist.
And what they do with this, especially if it really does work in the background tying together the things they've already made, done, and said they would do. It would make a great base point for future change in the game. And for the next generation of games.

I don't expect much because I am afraid to be disappointed. I also don't know much about sims 3 generations so I won't be comparing them

What I do hope for (but not expect)
    - new children aspirations
    - new activities for children and toddlers. Please not another drawing table for kids
    - private school (thinking of sims 2 base game here)
    - something to differentiate young adult and adults. Perhaps a midlife crisis?
    - canes: if we get them I hope they are not restricted to elders only. Sometimes people ask for disabilities included in the game. I this canes for all ages could be a tiny step
I expect nothing for occult players... again. Take me back to the days where the team wasn't afraid to add occults. :(

Also, I'm dreading the thought of a dentist career.

An occult in the pack sounds to good to be true. But would be very welcome

I definitely agree that if they bring mobility aides in they shouldn't be age restricted. Disability doesn't just affect the elderly, and it's nice to have representation.

Even if we didn't speculate and just waited for the pack to drop, we could still be disappointed. It'll inevitably be compared with Generations, which was one of the best Sims 3 packs. And The Sims 4 doesn't have the best track record.

    As for what I want:
    • More kids' games, especially things that can be done with groups of kids.
    • Walking canes
    • Strollers
    • Inheritance system
    • Treehouses
    • More after-school activities
    • Tea parties
    • Dress-up chests
    • Some way for kids/teens to develop interests in certain career paths. It would be a great way to give sims personalities and have them play a more active role in their own lives. (It'd be a passing interest that you can choose not to develop, so it's not railroad-y)
    • Activities geared towards elders, even if other ages can do them (bingo, water aerobics, scrapbooking, puzzles, golf)
    • Field trips (rabbit holes, can be ties to the above)
    • Dentures
    • Board games
    • Video cameras
    • A way to take a family photo when you have a lot of sims.
    • A way for same-sex or infertile sims to have biological children, without the use of cheats
    • Teens throwing house parties, and the risk of getting caught
    • Midlife crises
    • The tooth fairy
    • Daycare active career
    • I wouldn't mind if they threw in imaginary friends

I love the inheritance system idea. But the same-sex bio children has existed for years. And I dont mean the OG CAS play with genetics workaround. This specific change came even before the change for body frame choice and clothing unlocks. You can choose if your Sim is able to get pregnant, get others, or not at all. Regardless of sex. That's not a cheat that's basegame. But like if you mean IVF or donation, stuff like that. Idk they'll bring that in here. But there are mods that have that. Idk if they are on the new site. But there are quite a few that can increase your abilities in that manner.
CAS is a great option, but I want something more immersive than a workaround or cheat. Donors sound like a fun idea, but I was picturing something like Into the Future, where two same-sex sims can get their DNA combined and have a child. I know that was meant to be "futuristic," but it'd be fun. And it's notnlike technology in the Sims 4 isn't already advanced.

I could see that be interesting. I do like what we have. Though right now it's more like your Sims are transgender or intersex when it comes to arranging things. Rather than having the ability for two sims who normally wouldn't be able to have children together to have children. Right now, it's slightly different. I think adding on is totally fine, as long as it doesn't take away what we have now. I didn't play Into The Future so I didn't experience that one. I think I was just happy to have two wives able to have children together. Or whatever configuration I chose.

But another mechanic added in could bring more options. Especially if it's something that doesn't rely on the means of birth we currently have. Maybe even paving the way for a Sim and Servo baby. Or Servos having kids in general. Though hybrids don't really work in this game.

I'd rather have fairies like the ones we had in Sims 3, personally, and in a designated game pack. Those were much more versatile, and I think a skill tree like we have for vampires and spellcasters would be really good.

I’m expecting less of a generation pack more of a interpersonal family relation pack. A pack that recognizes uncles, aunts, cousins, grandparents.

I think children are probably going to get the most from the pack and they might throw elders a bone(Personally I don’t care about elders).

What I’m hoping for some family focused events. I would love sleepovers. New playground equipment. Kids to finally be able to use a bike. Maybe a tricycle for toddlers.

I would really love a new lot type.

Is ice cream base game now? I know it came with that cool kitchen stuff pack, but was it made free? If not, and they did this they'd have to add more options to the current machine and make a free version. I don't mind if it means cooler sundaes or a pack refresh.

But if they ever bring burglars back I want a toggle. I hate them and the repo guy. But I know a lot of simmers like them.

You know what'd be cool? Self-defense and martial arts classes in game. Starting from childhood. You could learn on vacation in sims 3, but it would be awesome in a generations pack. All ages could learn.

I will not be getting my hopes up whatsoever as I've learned not to with TS4, but I definitely am intrigued to know what it is. The "tooth beary" thing confuses me because we don't know if it's for the EP or one of the new kits coming. If it's for the kit, then the dentures in the promo from the summit makes sense. But if it's for the EP it'd be cool to get an active dentist career that is similar to the Vet Clinic where you own your own practice.

I also agree that I think we will be getting a family tree/CAS relationship update to BG with this pack to add other family such as cousin, grandparent, etc.

I'm also thinking that it will more likely be a "family time' kind of pack, related to family activities and events. Some things I'd wish to be included if this is so:

    1. More items for toddlers/kids to add to parks to play on
    2. Graveyards
    3. Graveyard part time job for teen & up
    4. More afterschool clubs for kids
    5. More grandparent/grandkid-specific interactions
    6. Daycare/Babysitter career
    7. Some kind of family event would be cool, like a cookout, family reunion, slumber parties (adds sleeping bags to game) etc. and/or a funeral-esque event that involves inviting loved ones over, serving food and letting your sims and other sims close to them give speeches as a remembrance to them.
    8. more fun items for kids' birthday parties. bouncy house, trampoline, snow cone/cotton candy machine, face painting stands, more stylized birthday cakes.
    9. If we get the baby pouch from the summit art concepts, it'd be cute if there was pack integration and could also use it for small dogs, after all many ppl see dogs as their children too haha

I actually agree completely lol. I've been playing a TS3 save and the imaginary friend is SO glitchy when they age up that is just becomes a nuisance. I can't imagine it going any better if it was added to TS4 haha.

No I think your ice cream truck/cart idea is great. Sorry if that didn't come through. I was just continuing my thought.

Bc whenever they add new content that's tied to old paid content, they have had the disturbing trend of making said paid content free. Or making an extra swatch free. We paid for seasons and the calendar. Now everyone has the calendar, and myb seasons too, but we have the rinks still. And they just add a few things in a free update to act like the money we spent isn't now kind of obsolete.

So if they did add something as cool as this cart, since we do have ice cream machines, they'd either make those free. If they haven't already. Or make another device or thing that involves icecream for BG. And everything would have updated icecream flavors as an add-on. Like maybe an icecream shop and we get sundaes. Bc we get the cart you mentioned with the pack. We already have the home machine. And the best way to make it so players without either pack could enjoy icecream without taking away more from paid players would be to add something to BG that didn't exist in paid nor BG.

Also baby showers are cool. I definitely would like that option. And especially over a gender reveal mechanic being added it.

I'd like a world with more apartments, and with less empty useless space around the active lots.

My only expectation, based on what we know so far, is a Family Reunion event that probably involves inviting family/serving a meal/a new "reminisce/tell family anecdotes" interaction.

Obviously I'd like a lot more than that. I just don't expect it.

Idk if they have ice cream base game but I thought it would be a fun feature that both kids & adults enjoy.. also maybe baby showers could be added as well .

They could add popsicles and cones to the game and leave the gelatto flavours for cool kitchen SP. They could also include slushies in the ice cream cart.
    Happy simming!

No worries.. I wouldn’t mind them adding an ice cream shop in base game especially if we get an ice cream truck in the expansion.

I just really want a pack that doesn't feel like a "one and done" situation. Expansion packs have generally been better in this sense than game packs, but when I look at recent EPs, they're increasingly falling into this pattern as well. eg. Snowy Escape... I sent my sims on a holiday, did all the things, and now it doesn't feel like there's a reason to go back and do it again. Same with High School Years. Most of the game packs are like this where there's a set objective/storyline to follow and then once you've done it once it doesn't really add to ongoing gameplay. The only game packs that really breaks this mould is Parenthood, which is one of my favourites, and perhaps occult packs since they can enhance everyday playing if you're into that (which I'm not particularly).

I just really hope that whatever we get in this EP translates well to all my save files/families and enhances gameplay in dynamic ways, rather than forcing the player down a predetermined route that doesn't offer much replay value. Some of the best additions in recent packs have been new systems such as memories, likes/dislikes, scenarios, etc. because they add depth and richness to gameplay without being prescriptive. I want to see more features like this.

For a Generations type pack, that could include a midlife crisis system, better family relationships with distinctive interactions, more complex/nuanced family dynamics, etc. One of my biggest gripes with the game in general that impacts gameplay constantly is the fact that all relationships except romantic ones are represented on a -100 to 100 friendship scale which is so simplistic. There's no differentiation between friendships, sibling relationships, etc. I would love to see a system where there might be strong familial love between siblings, but there is constant bickering and rivalry as well. Or friendships that fluctuate more quickly. Even if this was as simple as having some pop-ups like, "Your brother used your toothbrush. Gross! Do you a) punch him, b) talk it out, c) just buy a new toothbrush" and an accompanying moodlet that lasts a few in game days. Anything like that would help create more dynamic and realistic relationships.

One thing I'm sure we won't ever get but that I'd absolutely love would be selectable relationship traits (beyond just the automatic ones that are assigned like 'lovebirds'). There is already an existing system for automatic relationship traits, and there are individual character traits and lot traits, so why not relationship traits? Imagine having 2 kids in a household and being able to choose different relationship traits between the mother and those kids. Maybe the son is seen as the golden child but the relationship with the daughter is strained. That would then influence gameplay outcomes and would come with specific interactions/moodlets/etc. specific to that relationship. I would absolutely love some kind of system like this to add depth and realism, but like I said, I doubt we're going to get something like this unfortunately.
