Are they phasing Origin out? Should I just only use the new EA app? How do I stop Origin from loading automatically cause you can't have both active on your computer at the same time.
Do you have Origin set to open when you power up your computer? If so change that. If it's opening when you open the App, I would contact EA for help. That's crazy.
I was forced to switch to the EA App today and it shows, that I have to download the Basegame. But I already own the basegame and every pack except menswear and paranormal.
I can enter the game and everything seems alright ingame, but it is confusing that the EA App is still telling me I need to download the basegame.
I already cleared the App Chache, but it did not help the issue.
For those of you playing along at home: I deleted everything and redownloaded the app and now it's working. Whew. To paraphrase Capt. Kirk "for how long though, for HOW long?"
Are you suggesting that you removed both the EA App and Origin? Or that you removed the EA App and reinstalled it?

I have no clue, but I read somewhere that it might help rebooting your computer and app a couple times until everything is installed.
I got the the message on Thursday telling me to install the new EA App and since then I've not been able to launch my game at all.
Just redownload Origin. That's what I'm in the process of doing. I uninstalled the evil App and reinstalled it, hoping that would do the trick, but it gobbled up Origin in the process and now it still won't launch my game. Keeps telling the viscious lie that I don't have Internet connection. Say what? I wouldn't be on the forum at this moment in time, if that were true. Face/palm. Like I said I was able to download Origin and it's in the process of installing. I'll be back here, if it's no longer able to function.
Works just fine. I have been playing my game for most of this elapsed time.
I'm still on Origin. I'll only move when/if I have to. When they switched from the EA Downloader to Origin, I lost a bunch of packs and had to deal with customer service for a long time trying to fix it, only to discover some packs were no longer supported. I didn't get them back until they released Sims 2 Ultimate Collection. (They did give me a free Sims 3 pack as a way of reimbursing me). I also lost all the stuff I'd purchased in the Sims 2 store and didn't get that back until years later.
As an aside, does anyone else find it humorous that they had an "EA" app, went to Origin, and are now going back to an "EA" app?
Humorous, no; ominous, yes. It gives the impression that what was discarded as inferior to be replaced by Origin is now being gone back to. Not a good feeling.
I dared look, and right enough it's telling me to install the EA App and it will automatically uninstall Origin. I'm not even going to try it now. I'll do it tomorrow when I have a whole afternoon free to sort it out if anything goes wrong!
I still use Origin on my computer; just like Windows 11, I don't plan on changing until I'm forced to do it.
I can't get past the message. I just had to hit quit origin from the taskbar as I couldn't even close it from the open app.
I guess this is me being forced now into the change over.
I'm going to tackle this tomorrow. I don't have time for problems today.
I'm glad to hear more successful change overs than unsuccessful ones.
As far as TS3 goes, I have never played through Origin as I still play from my disc, if and when I ever play it these days.
I’ve recently moved over and have not found any issues with Sims 4. Unfortunately, there are issues with Sims 2 and Sims 3 though.
Sims 2 Ultimate Collection is now Sims 2 Double Deluxe, and all Sims 3 Special Editions and Limited Editions are now just Sims 3 regular editions. I haven’t checked my Sims 3 store stuff yet as I haven’t downloaded Sims 3 to my new computer yet.
Please let us know about these inconsistencies here so we can alert the right teams.
Once again, the App is a but, telling me my game failed to launch. It's been doing this for quite some time, recently. I don't think it's ready for Prime Time, plus, I've also noticed there is no longer the warning that Origin is coming to a close, soon.
Having to report the bugs so y'all can contact the right teams sounds a lot like a beta process. I don't know why beta was ended when the app isn't ready yet. There should have already been hired bug testers making sure all the games worked well before the app was forced on everyone, with enough time for optional beta testing from those actually willing to make bug reports.
Your beta isn't over. It's just a forced beta on everyone now. We either have to be an unpayed bug tester by no choice of our own, or deal with a broken game and missing content. That's not ok. I really hope these issues get resolved ASAP because the Sims 3 store is EXPENSIVE for DLC collectors.
So far, I am still playing using Origin. I have kept it off line so maybe that is why.
I dread having to switch to the EA app because I am on the update before Werewolves and that is where I want to keep it because I do not want that fears update that they have yet to fix the off switch for and I do not want the constant phone use update and all the other buggy things that have come in the updates lately. My game is great the way it is, but I feel sure that once I switch to the new app, it will auto update my game, and then it will be broken.
I also still play Sims 2 and Sims 3 and Sims Medieval on Origin and I keep hearing that a lot of that content is not showing up on the new app. I have a lot of store content for Sims 3 and certainly do not want to lose it.
Hi Bluegayle, I just checked and all my games are where they should be. I only have 6 games in the app, including Sims 3, which I probably need to uninstall.
I can only wish those who are having trouble find solutions quickly.
In my house, dog hair sticks to everything but the dog.
I uninstalled the EA App and upon downloading and installing it again, as I stated above, it ate Origin. Then when I attempted to play my game, which in the recent past I was able to do, it's now telling me, consistently, that I don't have an Internet connection and my game failed to load. Well, I don't have time for such garbage. Too many other things to do in the same limited time space. So, in my exasperation, I immediately uninstalled the 'new' EA App, and then downloaded Origin. It worked just fine, too. Same as always. That's how I played my game yesterday afternoon. I don't plan on installing the EA App again, until they fix the amalgamated mess that is the EA App. Sorry, EA, fix it or lose it. I just don't have the time to play around, here.

Huh, I've yet to see that message. For now, I'm sticking with Origin.

I'd stick with Origin if it would allow me to. I'll go ahead later and install EA, but like you, if it messes everything up, I'll uninstall it and reinstall Origin. From what I'm reading, not everyone can reinstall Origin again. This is so totally Messed up!
Oh my. I just noticed when I tried "Repair" on the EA app it deleted my Origin completely. Thanks EA for a job well done. Now I can't play any of your games.
EA app is supposed to delete Origin completely. Origin and EA app are otherwise in conflickt.

You can't play any of them? What's happening to them?
Finally did it! It was a heart stopping moment, but it took under 20 minutes. I've never sat staring at my computer feeling so sick.
It installed, uninstalled Origin. My games all there intact.
I turned off automatic updates first. Hit Go off line next. Put my mods folder and saves folder back into the file, and all's good.
I can breathe again.

Ah, yes, but did it allow you to play?
Yes, I'm playing as we speak, and have been for an hour.
Nothing lost.
I hope I'm not talking too soon! 😯
I'm wondering if it's best to wait until the message comes up to do the change, as I had no way of working around it.
It sounds like they're getting people ready in stages. I don't know.
PC users are now apparently required to use the EA App (or at least the origin app wouldn't let me log in and insisted I swap over to the EA app, as we've been expecting). Downloading and installing the EA App wiped out all of my save files and mods. If I wasn't already in the mode of backing everything up before an update (and also having my Sims uploaded to the Gallery for safe keeping) I would've just lost more than 2 years of continuous game play.
So make a backup folder before you install the new EA App.

EA App use another folder to install the games.
Default settings :
Origin use "C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 4"
Steam use "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\The Sims 4"
EA App use "C:\Program Files\EA Games\The Sims 4"
