I only use the Career Change feature for Neighborhood Stories. Everything else is turned off.
All of the other features in Neighborhood Stories are very badly tuned. Too many sims die, and they all adopt way too many pets and babies. I had an entire one of my lineage households killed off by NS

I trust MC Command Center far more than Neighborhood Stories for Story Progression. They need to update this feature and make it less extreme.

I have neighborhood stories turned off entirely because it is way too extreme, and I play rotationally.

before my computer issue took out everything I noticed so many missing sims I realized I had been a little too focused on my sim's stories, it keeps things interesting but I am forcing a habit to turn it off completely or get rid of the busier options while preparing my save for playing.

I have taken out Death, Moving Out, and Moving In with my NS. I don't mind the occasional, but nearly half of all the sims who started out had either died (always killed) or had moved out. Whole families had either moved into a one-bedroom home or became homeless. The wildest death was one of the university girls was killed when she was working on a toilet and the thing caught on fire.

Some of the death descriptions are pretty wild.

I have taken out the entire NS thing. I first tried it and found it way too much happening to too many households in a short time. It seemes exaggerated to me.

Yes, overkill comes to mind. EA always goes to the enth degree, when moderation is called for. Oh, well. Let's hope they find it in them to tweak it so that it's fun the way it was intended.

Have it off in my main save and only use it in some of the simmingal test saves

Neighborhood stories off should be default setting tbh

I like the option but it drives me insane how easy it is to accidentally destroy your save with it

Sometimes I wonder if their intention is to make us all so disgusted with TS 4 that we will run to 5 with open arms. Problem is, the same company that is breaking 4 is the one that is making 5. Who says it will actually be better?

I turn it off. I left it on for a while and it created a ton of odd townies for the npc households. There were some cool ones which I saved and put into a new game but generally it was just a flood of weird sims.

I actually feel in many respects it might be worse. I think Sims 4 actually kinda limits the damage they can do 😂. At least sims 4 you can generally undo a lot of their stuff 😁.

I don’t experience any problems with NS in my game, but I also play vanilla, don’t know if this may be the reason. Sims die from time to time, even boyfriend of my widowed legacy founder (climbed mountain after she refused to get married to him), but I think of this as “that’s freaking life”. Tragedies are happening and in my game they are not very excessive. I only disabled the “move out” option, because Goths could literally end up in the Strangerville trailer 😆.

Only complain I have at this point is to add real marriage if two sims are getting engaged. Maybe invitation to the wedding would be next step, but I guess that’s something I will never see.

Weddings have been "improved" to a degree with MWS pack. Either the groom or the bride sets the date, place and time for the wedding. Best ask Sims to be Flower Pal, and Ring Bearer, plus Sims of Honor and the Officiant, if you desire one, ahead of setting the date on the calendar. As for receiving the invitation by other Sims, most do show up to the event. But, no, alas they don't get on in the mail, but that would be cool.

Yes, Sims do die randomly, it's true. But NS seems to accelerate it. If you don't untick that box, look out. I have lost important NPCs, in the game. Lost Thorne Bailey once. Just lost Holly Alto (although, she was married and went by a different last name). I would expect them to be exempted, you know, like Father Winter.

Preach. I really wish story progression would have autonomous marriage for sims who are already engaged. It's annoying when someone calls my sim to ask if they should get married and my sim says yes, but I have to load into one of their houses to actually make the marriage happen. Unless the other partner is living with my sim, it's a hassle.

Mind you, I don't want autonomous marriage out of the blue for sims who aren't already engaged. Given how poorly tuned autonomous pregnancy and adoption is, I think autonomous marriage would be next level chaos.
