Favourite career for your sims

«13
There are a lot of good choices but I’m curious to see which one you guys like best in case I’m missing something good!

Personally I like the Paranormal Investigator career from the Paranormal pack. I like going into unplayed Sims houses and seeing how they act while I stay the night and try to deal with their haunting.

I love the detective career. I love catching the Sims on the street, ticketing them for littering and fighting, jailing them, and then interrogating them (the bad cop route has all the funny animations).

Detective, Scientist, Conservationist. Last one is best if you live in Mua Pel'am. Most of the tasks are in that location.

I find ordinary careers, like business, very boring.

Painter, author, and actress are my favorites, are just about all I do with the sims I spend most of my time with. I love the author and painter careers because I can play those sims as self employed. I don't have them join the actual career path set by Maxis. I do enjoy the active part of the acting career, but just as important, they can set their own schedule. They keep money rolling in, especially the painters, and they have lots of free time to do fun things. Musicians and singers would be great if we only had the EP to support those careers properly.

Paranormal investigator, interior designer, and conservationist are also fun ones but I've only done them once or twice each. I keep meaning to play those more often, but I always stick to my routine.

@GalacticGal Is that Road To Fame? I think you mentioned it once before and I keep getting sidetracked and haven’t looked into it.

Yes it is, but currently it's not fully working as designed. The creator says it won't hurt our games, but since it hasn't been updated for awhile, it will throw LEs left right and sideways.

    That's not a problem. I'd be more shocked if I didn't get an LE during a session.😆

I tend to lean towards the political career and have "drama" based stories.

Detective career is fun if I want to be active with my sim all the time. Or I really enjoy the social career I can’t think of the name of it right now. Because that’s active but you have to go places and do things for the job.

For me it's interior designer, doctor and covert operator.
-No, my almost-elderly mother, I don't think it's a good time for you to try for a baby.
-Yes, person I barely know, you have my blessing to hang out with Johnny Zest.
-No person with the mean, hot-headed and self-absorbed traits, I don't think you should get married.

I play the culinary and painter quite a lot.
Cooking is one of my favourite parts of the game and I love that we have so many options. Painting keeps the money rolling which is always great in my saves

I love the active careers most, especially the ones with work places. I was so dissapointed that the military career did not have a military base to work at….. with various activities to do. I also was dissapointed the political career didn’t have a work place too. Although I do wish we were able to alter the workplaces ( like we can high school ), without cheats.

And sometimes, I like the freelance careers, and an Island Bum might just do odd jobs for people and sift through sand for objects to sell.

Variety….. yep I like the variety. Sometimes my sims will not have a real job. They will paint, or DJ at night at a club, or play guitar in the park. Or teach yoga classes in the park, or knit, or garden or whatever.

But I have to admit I play rotationally and if I get tired on one, go to another household.

I lean towards scientist, doctor, actor, conservationist. In roughly that order.

My favorite career is no career just live on gardening or painting because of the struggle, but if I have to choose one it would be military (office branch) simply because its the best paying job.

I enjoy playing the creative careers. Painter, writer, chef, musician, etc. I almost always have them join the career track since I tend to play big households and I have to have some of them out of the house at all times or they drive me nuts LOL. I've played through the active doctor career once and the active actor career twice. I still haven't played a detective even though I've had Get to Work for about 3 years, but I want to. I will probably never play the scientist career because I avoid occults like the plague and I don't want my save lousy with aliens.

No offense to occult players, I was chuffed ya'll finally got werewolves. @Gordy Dragons! Dragons! Dragons!

I like flexible careers and also careers with active elements. Lately I've played sims in entertainment and singing careers, who also do standup comedy and sing in lounges.

It changes a lot, but detective, freelance fabricator and "just fishing" are always in my Top 5. Anything that isn't a rabbit hole job.

If you're serious about using this mod, I recommend this version: Road to Fame: Street Dancer V0.5B2 Alternative Version. Nothing bad it in, but I like that the hours of the events: concerts/photoshoots will sometimes come up for s 12 hour window and every now and again I've seen a 24 hour window, over the majority of 6 hours. Just punch in that name and a site should come up for it.

It's worth a try, and I'm looking for ways to keep things interesting. The worst thing about the acting career for me is the limited number of roles to choose from. TV gigs have always been a little easier to make work with my headcanon. My actress just happens to be the star of a long running series. Movies are tougher for me, because there are only so many sequels.😁

Most my sims end up in the military or detective career.
  • mikamakimonmikamakimon Posts: 470 Member
I like the active careers that let me go to work with my sims. Best one is probably scientist followed by conservationist. I did enjoy the detective and doctor careers, but outside of their actual work shift, I found there's hardly any 'detective' or 'doctor' actions and interactions they could actually do. Scientists and conservationists, on the other hand, I can find a lot of related gameplay for them to do even when not at work.

But my favourite thing to do is not have any career at all and just make up one for my sim. Not being tied to a schedule or routine, I can focus on crafts, skills or activities that makes sense for each particular sim.

There's also a new XML Injector? is that right? thingie that one of the people on his Discord said was designed in such a way it will never need to be upgraded. We should keep it in our Mods folders. I grabbed it.

In this save, I’m mostly just playing aspirations and not playing any careers. In the past, I played creative careers the most. Still waiting for bands and full music careers.

I really liked being a Veterinarian, I had no idea I would get so sucked into it, but I reaaallly did. I think I usually spend most of my time being a writer, even though I'm not sure that's really my favorite. I have a really bad tendency to not actually play sims fully, versus building and creating sims a stupid amount. I edited an entire base game where everything is modded. It's absolutely dumb, like who goes to non-playing characters houses and build it differently? I even edit workplaces and buildings etc, like....it really is a problem and I need help.

SO yeah....needless backstory aside, I haven't tried all of the careers yet. The end.
