World Pack?

Sims 4 has been out for eight years and it feels like with each new game play feature, there's an increased risk of something going haywire. It's gotten to the point where I'm nervous about updates and buying additional game play packs. They've introduced BB and CAS kits as a way to add non-game play content, but I only have two of them because I'm fundamentally a game player and it's hard to tempt me to spend good money on aesthetics only.

What if they had a pack that just revolved around adding a new world rather than major game play features? I'm thinking these would be priced at 20 dollars, would come with a large world (think Windenberg), with extensive community amenities (think Newcrest), an large build/buy collection (enough to furnish an entire home), as well as a substantial CAS collection that fits the theme of the world. This could appeal to game players like me because it would give them a whole new environment for their characters to live in. This might also free up their game play coders to focus on repairing the game. Thoughts?

World pack sounds great!

I might by a world pack depending on the specifics of the pack (e.g. you'd buy Future World, but not a West African world).

Your on to something but the idea needs to be tweaked

I probably wouldn't buy it, but if others enjoy it, I don't mind if they make them

-No, my almost-elderly mother, I don't think it's a good time for you to try for a baby.
-Yes, person I barely know, you have my blessing to hang out with Johnny Zest.
-No person with the mean, hot-headed and self-absorbed traits, I don't think you should get married.

I would not be happy with it
even if its some world i really want
I would still want some related gameplay to go with it because im not there to just look at stuff and do nothing new

I'd buy a world creator but not another one of their ugly over decorated and themed worlds.
Sims 4 went from "You Rule" to "One of the stories we want you to tell"

Only if each World Pack had the following:
Ancient Egypt to Greece World with at least 12 lots
Dark Ages to Medieval World with at least 12 lots
Olden Days North American Western World with at least 12 lots
Time Travel Futuristic World with at least 12 lots
A full Alien Livable World with at least 12 lots

That's all I really want for Worlds. ;):p<3

    I would buy a Sims 4 World Pack/Kit.
Sometimes the world in the pack is stunning!
Sims 3 had separate Worlds for sale. I loved Monte Vista!

For example I bought Wedding Stories because of Tartosa. 😊
A gorgeous Mediterranean world! So different to the others. I’ve only used the wedding stuff once. I love playing the Marcovich family.
If there were more lots I would make Tartosa the captial city.

I did not get Werewolves because ‘Mirkwood Mill’ 😂 didn’t entice me enough. I might get it in a sale but there’s less appeal to the overall pack.

I would love an African safari world or a European beach themed world. Also an English town, Henford-on-Bagley is great but it’s small. A larger English town to place my Sims would make my day 😊🍸

If was a stuff pack, maybe we could set which world was the capital city. Also setting Sim preferences and this had some affect of where your Sims would walk around in, holiday or even move permanently.

    For example;
Quiet Sims wouldn’t pick San Myshuno.
Henford-on-Bagley a big no for a Party Animal.

If you moved them anyway they would get mad or sad etc.
Looking at the Basement Treasures Kit 👀 😎😊

A world pack without new gameplay is useless. Sure, it looks nice and it's a nice backdrop, but still the same if you ask me. And it will be glaringly obvious things are missing especially if it is some exotic location like China. There was no tea ceremony in an EP on Japan, no tea social event in an EP on UK, and no hammocks in an EP on island living. How would a future world feel futuristic if you can't do futuristic things in it?

Inadequate. Windenburg had 27 lots. Go big or go home, I say.
I'd also like them to continue the trend of collaborating with game changers to create the pre-made homes.

Mehhh, while I always like getting a new world, I'm always instantly irritated by how TS4 does it.

They give us a nice big world and 70% of the world is nothing but set dressing and backdrops taking up precious real estate space that we can't actually change. Even though I would really like another world with many more lots, I hate that I am forced to make my houses/lots match the world's style (because I have to have things aesthetically cohesive and match the environment around it).

Like for example, I can't place a bunch of retro/mid-century modern houses down in Windenburg without them looking glaringly out of place.

That sets my irritation level to 11 every time I have an idea of changing/creating my own world.

So buying just a "world pack" with objects/CAS items that didn't offer any gameplay elements to somewhat appease the annoyance of not having the ability to change/edit the world as I want, would not be something I'd be interested in.

The reason I said at least 12 lots because most of the worlds are actually much smaller. I don't expect another Windenburg world. That was a one hit wonder.

Only if you include Game Packs in your frame of reference, which you really shouldn't. We're proposing packs where the world is the main selling point. The only expansion packs with worlds that are smaller than that are Del Sol Valley, Get to Work and Seasons. Seasons is an iffy point of comparison though because, although they didn't add a world, they added major environmental upgrades to most of the existing worlds.

Agreed. A world pack needs more than 12 lots. I doubt we’ll ever see 27 lot world again.

In Sims 2 we could add or remove decorations in neighbourhood view. I would love to see that function again.

TwistedMexi is working on a world builder mod. Modders to the rescue once again. But yeah, I feel like we're at a serious shortage for lots. Even if it didn't have BB/CAS items I wants to new worlds!

One thing that's changed since Sims 2 is that we now have neighborhood amenities, which I love and wouldn't want to get rid of, so we wouldn't be able to edit the part of the neighborhood that sims can walk to. It would, however, be a really cool feature if the World Packs allowed us to place debug items in the backdrop part of the worlds, either from worldview or as a new section in build mode when you're in one of the lots in that neighborhood. Or maybe they could introduce a new "Neighborhood view" that allows to you to decorate the neighborhood backdrop.

So your suggested tweak is that they include a few "hero objects" in the world pack build/buy. Like maybe a lute and a long bow range in the Egypt pack? Or maybe a food replicator and a teleporter pad in a Future pack? I could get behind that. My concern with new game play is in layering additional broad game play features on top of a system of features that desperately needs to be repaired. Hero objects shouldn't have that same problem.

I would love a Time Travel EP that included all the historical worlds: Caveman/Prehistoric (cave living and bonfire outdoor fireplaces), Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece (pillars, the Odyssey, the Alexandrian Library), Ancient Rome (aqueducts, bathhouses (cross between hot tub and sauna and pool as a community lot), soldiers, gladiators, and military culture - excess violence could be blurred out or removed by looking away in a cutscene to watch other Sims reactions), Medieval (welcome back Sims Medieval), Renaissance (functional non-wishing wells that only make water available, more artistic murals in different styles, glass blowing, more stained glass windows and doors and more wood carving and statue carving options), ancient Celtic (Stonehenge, spellcaster extension (nature magic, pet magic), rabbits, maybe even igloos or ice sculptures), ancient China (sculpting, pottery, Great Wall, incense shop, cultural fashions), Victorian (England) - corsets, lace, horses and carriages, Wild (American) West (cactuses, Wild West decor, Wild West bar decor and furniture, wool and leather, buffalos, board games, showdown at noon - with fingers!) , plus maybe a futuristic world (although Batuu kind of covers futuristic). All the past worlds would ALL be off the grid except maybe Wild West. We also need more off the grid lighting of all kinds, and more plumbing available off the grid (all sinks should probably be off the grid).

Classic movie sets (from Get Famous) made playable would be perfect here. The Time travel world (if only one world was added) would show a wormhole or spiral symbol, with description, and should all be vacation worlds. However, PLEASE don't permanently break the phones: the phones should have current internet/phone capacity greyed out and social bunny notifications removed except "travel" while time travelling.

Another thing I wouldn't mind seeing is a crossover pack world... kind of like they did with Batuu, only with mobile games like Love Nikki or Shining Nikki (fashion or nail salon design), Gardenscapes (landscaping and garden design), Homescapes (home design), Minecraft, Fate of the Empress (classic Chinese choices game with lots of related fashion), Bermuda Adventures (island crafting game), Fishdom (aquarium game), Sims 4 mobile, and Sims Freeplay. A LOT of mobile games cross-promote other mobile games. Also, maybe pull in the Mining and collectibles crafting from Stardew Valley. (Yes, you can actually make clothes in SV by combining artifacts and cloth.) Speaking of which, I do wish the Sims Cottage Living had included wool-producing animals.

A sports world would also be great: put a stadium on a 64x64 community lot or introduce a larger lot size. Maybe do it like the Olympics: different Olympic events on different lots and/or change up the sports by season. For those without this pack, going to a sports event could be a rabbit-hole, like attending religious services on a holiday event.

I have been playing The Sims since 2001, when Livin Large came out. My avatar deliberately looks like Chris Roomies from TS1.

I would love new worlds. I'd kind of expect them to come with some gameplay though, even if it was world-focused.

I would be all over that! New worlds are my favorite part of new expansion packs. There are so many beautiful and/or interesting places in the world and I want my sims to go to all of them. I travel vicariously through my sims, lol. I collected every Sims 3 world at the store and I would do the same for Sims 4 for sure.

While the time travel EP is a very different concept overall, a lot of the worlds you suggested sound like a great idea for a world pack, especially if you piggyback off of @Mak27 's hero object concept. I'm intrigued by the idea of a horse and carriage as a hero object, especially if you could develop a relationship with the horse, sort of like patchy, and if you could build handiness by tinkering with the carriage.
Speaking of which, I do wish the Sims Cottage Living had included wool-producing animals.
In Cottage Living you can shear the llamas for wool and use the wool for craftables.

It would really depend on the pack. Here’s a few ideas.

A new ‘newcrest’ with empty lots and nothing else - no, not for me although I wouldn’t begrudge anyone else. My newcrest is empty. My building is generally refurbishing existing lots. I will make a new lot now and again but I have no need for more space.

A new San Myshuno without apartments or festivals or all the extras of city living but just the map, new npc sims and some pre built lots and maybe a fishing/collectible. - I would buy this as a stuff pack. I like to play the game and it’s cool to just have different sims living in different places but if it’s just basically a skin of something else we already have then it doesn’t have much value to me.

A themed world like theme park, future, medieval, western with a map, new npc sims, some pre built lots, themed CAS and themed Build and Buy, fishing, collectible and limited gameplay such as a shooting gallery or some new interactions/animations but nothing really game changing - yes as a game pack but I’d rather they went all in on these themes and made gameplay too. I think overall people would complain because these packs would look really cool on a trailer and they’d have higher expectations than just essentially a new world. So it would be better to be a game pack unless the world was really really good, better than Windenberg good.

What about world extension packs? I would love more room to build for Moonwood Mills. I'd like a few more premade lots, but mostly empty lots to build myself. I'd like some more stuff of the same theme, but again mostly just more room to build. It would be nice if the extension packs could include a high school if the high school pack was also owned. I love to see themed high schools.

@Katofhyrule12 I personally love your idea. More Strangerville please! Unfortunately, the community as a whole hates extension packs, and the Sims have promised they won't do them again. :'(

I really have not played Sims since Sims 1 and am just getting caught up now. Thanks for explaining!
