Just got the fear of death for immortal wolf sim. 🙃 I’m guessing vampires are also getting this? I mean, the fear system should check if sim has certain traits (for occult sims). I killed it with turning off and on again the fears/wants system in options, but… 🤩!

Just don't travel or you'll have to turn that system off again.
I opened up a test version of my main "story save," and my Sim, who has had a wonderful relationship with his girlfriend, rolled a Want to break up with her. Supposedly he fell out of love with her. That seemed to come out of thin air; they had just been on a really good date, and their romance bars are almost completely full.
I tried ignoring the Want, because I don't want him to break up with her. He became Very Angry, too enraged to do anything but rage. I've modded my game, so I could right-click away the unwanted emotion, but I'd rather not do that...and the Want is still there, annoying me.
I generally have no problem with the Wants--they're fun to work with most of the time--but this one is frustrating me.

That would frustrate me too. Another one that annoys me is the fear of being cheated on when the couple is woohooing daily.
@telemwill I cleared the Want to break up with his girlfriend by going into Game Options > Gameplay and unchecking Show Wants and Fears. That did what it said it would do; the Wants and Fears weren't showing above Cameron's portrait in the bottom right corner of my screen. When I reversed this process and put Wants and Fears back in, he had two different Wants. I was worried as first, because the thought bubble showed Angie's face...but this time, he wants to ask her about her day. I'm MUCH happier with that.
I still had to cheat Cam's terrible mood away, but at least I can work around the problem. I wish I didn't have to, but the fix is at least simple.

I use a mod that eliminates all fears, so I can just fulfill the Wants when I'm ready to. Like Whims, in the past. Suits me just fine.
I'll never understand why the Sims Team implemented fears the way that they did for the Sims 4. Even if it worked without any bugs, it's incredibly annoying but also inconsequential.
Sims 2 Wants and Fears rolling with an aspiration meter did it best.

I use a mod to remove the fears altogether. Got tired of the Professor and father of five kids running around the house in a total panic because he feared thunderstorms, of which they were having almost daily until I got wise and toggled them off. Now, I just fulfill the Wants when I am able to, much like whims.
I do wish Maxis would stop with the small, pointless Wants. While they can be handy for preventing the Unfulfilled Dreams fear, they're not that great for further developing a Sim's personality.

No, but in fulfilling them our Sims receive points which can be exchanged for additional Traits. I like Frugal, because it helps to keep the utilities bills down.

It boggles my mind too.
It seems obvious to me that after a day or two of play it's a feature that most people would want to turn off, and they can't even do that.
I liked them at first but the jobs fear is really having a negative impact on my game now.
My sims only have small part time jobs purely for fun. They maxed them out, do very few hours and make lots of money per hour because of all their payrise.
But they get this fear of dead end job all the time. You’re supposed to regain passion then go to work. If regain passion doesn’t work then they get anxious. And even if it does most of the time the fear still doesn’t go away. If you do get rid of the fear it comes back like a few days later.
It’s like they are permanently sad or stressed and it just makes the job not worth dealing with to be honest. I think once a particular fear has been conquered you shouldn’t see it again for a while.
I like the Wants. Sure, some of them are a little light, but they are unique to sims' traits and likes/dislikes, so I appreciate that.
As far as the Fears..... Oh dear They are very repetitive.
My sims are constantly getting the Fear of Dead End Job. One of my sims got promoted, and it still didn't erase the fear. I don't understand the "regain passion" feature either, sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't.
I haven't found a way to remove the Fear of Death. My elder sim is constantly discussing her fears with other people, but still hasn't removed that fear after a couple days.
The Fears are also way too frequent and intrusive. You shouldn't be getting a new Fear everyday. Maybe if they got a new Fear every week, it would be better. But it is way too frequent now.
I hope they continue to improve this feature, as I do like the Wants, but the Fears are flawed.

I use a mod that removes All Fears. So, now I can enjoy the Wants and fulfill them whenever the opportunity strikes.

I may end up using a mod to remove them completely. I only started playing the Sims 4 again recently after a hiatus, so I haven't experienced all of the Fears yet, so I want to see if the other Fears are better.
I do hope they patch them (particularly the Dead End Job Fear) to make them more tolerable.
After hearing what everyone else was saying about Fears, I ended up using a mod to remove them as well; Though I did experience the "fear of unfulfilled wishes" (I forget the exact name) after I disabled my mods while testing something. Getting rid of it was relatively simple, but this was after only three days in-game - and each prior day I ended up fulfilling at least one Want. I reenabled the mod to remove fears shortly afterwards.
Also, While I do like the Wants system, I do have two main issues with it. First off, you only get two at a time; the space for the third one seems to be restricted to Wants related to needs being low. This could've been resolved by having the third Want be context-sensitive; focus on needs like it is now, but put up another want related to the current emotion your Sim has. The second issue I have with it is that you can't reroll them like you could Whims, which means you could either be stuck with a Want that doesn't fit your story for your sims, or be like me and get the Want to "look on the bright side" and have an incompletable Want because they're so blissed off their gourd they're not gonna be upset before they get rerolled (or some other similar situation.) Would've loved it if they kept the ability to re-roll Wants at will, even if it was limited in some way.
I’m on PS5 so no mods, so I test my fingers constantly switching fears/wants on and off to prevent them from appearing. For now it worked and only one of my sims ended up with permanent fear of darkness, because I trusted that in game way (conquering the fear) would work and surprise, it didn’t.
I travel a lot with my sims so it’s a struggle.

I might have to look into that, @GalacticGal. Thanks for the suggestion!

Thanks you so much for this info!
Yes, you are right I made a mistake with fix for sims being mean. 🤦🏼♀️ Sorry. It’s because that bug didn’t affect me, and I wasn’t paying attention.
