I'm not sure if you know this is an option or not.
But.
If you turn off automatic updates to your game, and then "go offline" in Origin, you can hold off on adding a patch until whenever you want.
The only thing you cannot do when you are "offline" is access the Gallery or Store. But. You can still access your own Library.
I do this always sometimes.
Oh. It also doesn't keep track of your gameplay time when you are offline, buuuut, at least you can play your game still, with Mods, until the Modders update them.
....If this is something you want to do in the future, and if you have Auto updates on now, I would wait until you're ready to patch, and then turn it off. Since as soon as you open Origin, if you have auto on, it will update you instantly.
Do you guys know what mods may be causing me to not be able to play with my household? Every time I try to open it it just take me back to the worlds. I already got rid of the More CAS Columns mod (and some others) because I heard people were having an issue with that one. Is there any other mod I should be aware about?

What mods do you use besides more CAS columns? Page 1 contains a list of broken mods, check if you use any of the broken mods.

There's no telling because we have no idea how many and what kind of mods you have, if any more, now or in the past. Or exactly how many mods were broken by this update, Luthien's listing them as they get reported, what's broken and what's been updated. Keep checking this thread for updates.

Your best bet is to remove all the mods and place them back to test. Check out more information on the 50/50 method mentioned on the first page of this thread, for an easy way to do this.

Also check the list of mods that have been updated (also on page 1) and update any of those you are using. Check the mods listed as cleared too. Remove any mods from your mods folder that have not been cleared or updated. (I keep a temporary mods folder on my desktop where I keep mods that haven't been cleared yet, so I can remember to keep checking on those.) Usually CC is okay to leave in, but if your household still will not open, try removing that too.
Because it might be helpful, the only time this has happened to me, it was because of a broken career. No guarantee that's it though.

I clean tested all my mods and as you mentioned all the ones that feature prominent interaction with whims are broken — and that manifests by the mod simply making the wants and fears not appear (for me it's just whimoverhaul). Another mod that does this is unfortunately ky-e's Lifetime Aspirations mod (https://modthesims.info/d/648717/). The aspirations do work and show up, but the mod causes the wants and fears not to appear :/

Can confirm Overpowered (part of my edit of Nyx's Enhanced Aliens) is currently broken due to its requirement for XML Injector to appear as rewards.
I'll do as others have and say please treat all my mods as broken until I say otherwise, since I currently cannot look into it and would prefer to play it safe.

I tested with my mods, and also removed all mods except those two and ran the game with better exceptions, (previous to the patch, these two worked fine together) which reported those as throwing errors, Slice of Life phone options aren't working, throwing exceptions, the better babies just throws errors upon loading in
