Sims who drunk a failed Potion of Immortality can’t be brought back?

Hi, recently I brought back and made immortal a few NPCs by feeding using the dedeadify spell and then feeding them a Potion of Immortality. It’s mostly worked, but the few times the potion failed I found the Sim couldn’t be called back with from the Book of Life I made, does anyone know if this is a known glitch? Thanks

The sim isn't dead and will return to normal in a couple of days.

Didnt know there were potions for that stuff, but considering I've mostly played vampires for the past few years. Yeah, I havent explored other areas of the gameplay much...

Yes when the potion fails the sim looks like a ghost but isn't really dead.
