@StephSteb
Somehow I missed your post above. Welcome to the challenge. Don't worry about posting a lot or a little. As you can see, I am limiting my images to mainly important events. Sometimes I don't even take screenshots of events. I missed BOTH engagements for Hunter and Serenity, and for Bryan and Shelby.
Don't feel that you have to keep up with my game. I am 61 and semi-retired. As a result, I am able to play for hours a day, every day of the week. I don't have a life. Well, I have a Sims life.
Some of the rules that I am following are from the original version of the game. See the original challenge here.
This is why I started with one young adult female and one male and female child. I did make my bunker (7x10) a bit larger than the 6x5 that Natalie recommended as my Sims would need space to move around with all that had been placed in the bunker. I also added walls and a door for the bathroom. The children start out as strangers and it's dangerous outside, so it didn't make sense for them to have to go outside every time the other one needed to use the bathroom.
I also used the original aging system, starting my Sims with the medium setting. When Daniel and Teri reached adulthood (young adults), I added one day to each of the age groups. When their first child, Hunter, was born, I added another day. (I was supposed to wait until Hunter became a young adult to add the extra days. I will not be adding more days until Loni becomes a young adult.) Infants will only have three days, and toddlers will have five days. I am usually able to fully train the toddlers with days to spare with the seven days normally given for the normal lifespan.
Looks like Amy will be sleeping on the sofa tonight seems Buddy wants the bed. \
The Dexters heard that a park has been built in town. He also heard that someone is building a house and will be moving in soon. \
the Dexters can't wait to meet them.
@texansky No worries My world turned out to be a no go as it said it could not install it so I'm back on the hunt for a world and hope to have some posts up in the next few days. I am loving everyone's updates!
@Stephsteb Sorry about your world, hope you find one soon, I know sometimes it is hard to find just the right world to play in, can't wait to see your pictures and story.
I tried this challenge about a year ago in Sunset Valley, and while it was fun in the beginning, it didn't work out well in the end. I'm not sure if I put the buildings back in at the wrong timing/order or not, but there ended up being a tremendous amount of lag, I think because the game wanted to spawn NPCs or something. The no-taxi mod was really helpful for this, I had them running everywhere and foraging in the forest. I think I might try it again though--it also could have been some glitch with a cheat code too.
I should add that my theory is that after a few generations in one town, I find I usually have to move to a new town to continue without the lag/glitchiness. So I think I did like 4-5 generations before it didn't work out for me to build the town back up. Now that I think of it though, maybe I can try to speed through a bit and have them advance at different life stages vs. generations. I like the idea of having them advance once they reach certain skill levels.
@Quinnikolite
I've never done this challenge before, but I am doing a legacy challenge that is currently on generation 9. I started in Sunset Valley, after about 4-5 generations, I couldn't load the latest save and couldn't play a previous save and save it without that save being unloadable. I used porter mod to move all my relatives to Glenvale County (more than eight households, if I remember right). So far, so good, but it's been about the same amount of time and a LOT more related Sims in my game now. I am hoping I don't encounter the same issue before my tenth generation is born. We'll see.
In this challenge, I turned off immigration until the next generation was born, and I didn't have any houses in the world until I turned immigration back on.
I am playing where the skills needed for a community lot can be mastered by more than one Sim if necessary. And one Sim can provide the skills needed for more than one community lot.
For example, my two starting children were Daniel and Teri.
Daniel provided the skills for the firehouse, supermarket, and big park with athletic, fishing, gardening, and handiness.
Teri provided skills for the supermarket and was the first to master handiness so that they had the knowledge and ability to build community lots.
@Quinnikolite Years ago I invented the A to Z challenge and played in the same Sunset Valley for the whole thing, I made it to Zack It took me forever but I did make it. I did not age up anyone they all went through their lifetime until they died. In this challenge I am planning on doing the same thing, only I wanted to adopt only. But as you see my first child in this game is an Alien, but I will still try to adopt the others, I thought it would be fun too to rebuild as I went along. It is very slow, but i love it and am having fun. Although when I think about it, it would be interesting to let Andy the Alien marry and see what the baby turns out to be. It is causing me to wonder. Well I have a long way to go, Love the Sims and am having fun.
Loni celebrated her birthday and is now a teenager.
Hunter and Serenity became elders.
Daniel, Teri, and Hunter have mastered handiness. Now they can have cars. I turned on cars but left the food and ice cream trucks turned off because they annoy me.
I got bicycles for all of them.
Loni turned her imaginary friend real. Meet Bekka Lynn. (Shout out to Bryan White! )
Bryan celebrated his birthday and aged up to an adult. He chose to spend his birthday with Shelby. He is at level 9 in charisma.
Apparently, Shelby is a bot fan.
Loni managed to prank her mother with the shower.
Serenity mastered logic and gardening, so the town was able to build a hospital.
Serenity visited Brandy Lynn in her new home. She was asked to deliver perfect produce to her.
@texansky Lol, yep I did manage to remember that they are not related so they're all just "housemates." Thanks. I have a bunch of sims saved for future games in my bin thingy and now I get to use a bunch of them up on this challenge after changing their ages
Those are the cot things from World Adventures and yes, that's part of the footboard. They were the cheapest beds for me (rules said use cheapest everything so I did). I know we're not supposed to recolor stuff and clothes but I am vehemently NOT following that rule because it will drive me up the wall, lol

The Lynn Legacy
Part 8
Hunter and Serenity celebrated their birthdays and became adults.
Loni is now a toddler.
She inherited her grandmother's eye color.
A rare shot of the family at the table. Left to right: Hunter facing away, Serenity, Brandi, Bryan, and his guest Shelby.
Loni became a child. I love her violet eyes!
I'm not sure if she likes this outfit.
Hunter finally mastered Writing, so they built a bookstore. Serenity became a partner immediately as she was in the neighborhood selling her produce.
Serenity mastered painting and unlocked colors! They also added a salon to the town and Brandi joined the stylist career. She will be moving out soon.

Two days later Amy also aged up to Adult
They are all enjoying the cake
Andy is now a young adult
Andy loves the computer and has made it in writing to level 10 He likes it so much that he says he wants to be a writer
Our town now has a bookstore
I guess Andy will be looking for a girlfriend soon, I think he is cute
Here's my sim - Shannon:
And here's her bunker:
And that is about how far I got today! I hope to be able to update more tomorrow

I hope you remembered not to make the children and Shannon related. They are all supposed to be unrelated survivors.
Kirby is good-looking in a teen sort of way. Blossom is so beautiful, and the toddlers are adorable!
I gotta ask. What is at the foot of all the beds? Is that part of the footboard?
