Ever deleted your sims by accident

1. I tried to enroll in a University dorm again when I was suppose to be packing to leave the dorm and the game totally deleted my sim. Luckily, I had a backup copy of that particular sim and they weren't in a big family tree.

2. I found out you can end up losing your sims to culling if you put them in other households. The game doesn't count the sims in the other households. They will disappear from the family tree.

Have you ever accidentally deleted your sims?

I am sure I probably have once upon a time in some of the older games, but that sort of thing is often prevented by my caution just because I am always worried about losing my favorites.

It also helps when you are with the games from the beginning. I owned 4 when they patched in My Households to prevent culling, which is why I have never left anything I cared about in Other.

I never accidentally deleted my own sims, but I once did a major OOPS when I went to use an option at the mailbox for something in MCCC. I've now forgotten what I was trying to do at the time, because it was a long time ago and I've slept since then. :grimace: But anyway, what I actually did was to delete all the sims in the game. Except for my active one, that is. I was like, "Whuuuuuu..." :fearful: but then I came to my senses and exited without saving. All was well when I reopened the game, thankfully. :relieved:

Taught me to pay more attention to what I was clicking, I can tell you, and not to try to be too speedy as well.
FYI: Just because you can see my signature, don't assume that I can see yours.
Because I can't; I keep all sigs turned off. ;)

Once. But, happily I caught it in time. I was using MCCC to bring up his needs, I believe, and the kill interaction in the menu is just above said cheat. Oopsie a slip of ye Olde mouse. :open_mouth: I was able to use the same mod, if memory serves, to reinstate said Sim. Phew!

When Cottage Living came out I found that you could right click a sim and trigger a death by chicken so I went to do that to a random sim.. Didn't realise it'd do it to my sim not the selected sim 😲

I have had a few sims accidentally culled while in Other Households, but I don't think any that I particularly cared about.

That being said, it is my understanding* that your sims are less likely to be culled while in Other Households if they are housed or if they have high relationships with your played sims. So I try to keep an eye on those things for the sims in Other Households that I would prefer to keep, as well as periodically updating them in CAS and deleting randomly created NPCs that I don't want to keep. I wouldn't swear that those things will always work, but since I've been taking those steps, so far I haven't had any culled that I didn't want culled.

(*Based on what other people who are not gurus have said in the forums, so I can't swear it's true.)

Thankfully no, but I do backup my saves/sims so I don't have to worry about losing them.

I can't say that I have, as it requires four separate clicks to delete a household. I am, however, a chronic re-starter. You should see my gallery and saved game lists.

Maybe I should get better at deleting.

Yes, in the dumbest way possible - managing households, I clicked on the X in the top right corner instead of whatever it was I meant to click on (I think I was meaning to edit them or maybe move them into a home). I'm pretty sure there was even a "do you really want to do this?" screen and I cheerfully clicked 'yes.'

Yeah, playing SIMS is a great way to spend time when dealing with a chronic illness but brain-fog is terrible thing.

Thankfully, I had already learned about backup saves...

I also suffer from restartitis, and I know what you're talking about. It's fairly tame now, but at its worst I had hundreds cluttering up my library.

I'm lucky, I haven't accidentally lost a favorite sim. Knock on wood, I have multiple backups of my absolute faves.

How about the game deleting my sims by accident?

Stupid game deleted off 4 sims in 3 different households, including one that recently had triplets. Their mom just aged up her triplets into toddlers, and the next day the mother was gone!

I was able to retrieve a child that was deleted from an old save I had in a backup file from February, and I think I can retrieve another adult from it. However, I don't know how to save the mother of the twins and her roommate. I just made them last month for Asian-American month, so they won't be in the February save. And the oldest save I have from after I made them is from yesterday! (Six slots in the save file, and they are all the same day! My February save file had saves from a 3 day period, and now the game doesn't keep anything older than 24 hours?)

I'm seriously afraid to play this game until I can fine those 2 newer characters. I have been playing with them a lot recently, but the fame deleted them!!!

I was tired at the time, and was saving one save file to play anther save file.
I thought I saved it twice, but ended up overriding another save file completely, and deleting the entire save.
Thankfully, I still have the families in my gallery, so I can just recreate the save file again, but it won't be the original version of it.
