Growing up, I LOVED playing The Sims Bustin Out, The Urbz Sims in the City, and The Sims 2 on my Gameboy advance.

I was wondering if would be possible if EA/Maxis could work with Nintendo to put those titles on the Nintendo Switch online service.

Pro’s:
1. There’s no Sims Switch titles
2. These games are already done and made
3. There is a cult following of these early sims titles and a lot of people would love to see them again
4. These titles are inclusive and promote diversity

I don’t know if EA or Maxis sees these posts but please consider putting The Sims Bustin’ Out, The Urbz Sims in the City, and The Sims 2 from the Gameboy advance to Nintendo Switch Online.

Recently I've purchased The Sims 1 Complete Collection and I got really upset when I realized tha EA is being so neglect with the most successfull game that became this franchise so big.

I tried to register the game in my Origin Account, and as I imagined, the serial was not valid. So I started a chat in US Origin (I'm brazilian) and asked for help to register the game in my account.

In the begining I thought I would be successfull in this process, until the moment when the clerk said that the registration wouldn't be possible because the game is very old. I answered saying that Origin owns older games than The Sims 1 (SimCity 2000, Theme Hospital...), and the clerk was unable to explain the availablity of these games.

So then, I started observing my game and I realized that it was produced in 2008. I notified the clerk about this, about Sims 2 also. I got lots of criteria about the fact that "The Sims Complete Collection is too old", until the clerk guided me to create a topic in Origin forum about this question to call attention of the developers. Instantly I looked for it to find answers about my issue.

After I searched topics in forum, I thought about what the clerk has told me "all attention of the developers" e asked him about it. He said that a post in the forum could convince (or not) the developers to provide The Sims 1 in Origin.

He also offered me The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection (I already own this one), saying that it was better than TS1. I thought a little disrispect, once my first question was about how to register The Sims Complete Collection in my account.

After 3 hours chatting trying to understand why the game will not be available on Origin to date, I concluded what was mentioned at the beginning of the publication.

Since now... I'm a big fan of The Sims series and I am REALLY disapointed about the way EA treats this classic game that gave birth to everything we have today. :'(

I haven't seen a discussion about this for The Sims 1, so I decided to open this one (I hope that's okay)

So it seems cats don't like the Tragic Clown much (who does, really?). He was in my lot, and there was also this cat hanging out with other ones, and as soon as he saw the clown, he started hissing at him like crazy, making him cry and go away. After that, the cat followed him two more times and did the same. It sounds sad but it was so funny to watch! I made a screen capture:

copy/paste from my answer to this question, so i thought i'd make a thread.

yesterday on a whim, i wanted to play sims 1 again. it'd been a few months. well, i could not get it to run at ALL. not with my regular "run as admin" or anything. i still right clicked my sims.exe icon, went to properties, compatibility, check box "run program in compatibility mode" and choose windows xp service pack 3. also click box "run as administrator". now that thats done, i expected it to work once again. nope. google search after google search, i finally found the problem.
a windows update on september 9th has apparently screwed up many people sims 1 game, making it not play. trick is to remove it.
remove update KB3086255 and it should work.
control panel, windows update, view update history, click installed updates at the top of tab. there you should be able to remove update KB3086255. this is the only way to play it to my knowledge.

MANY thanks to beatlesblondie over at the Mod The Sims forums for the tip. you saved my sanity!!!

Why should the sims 1 should be saved? Well, it is part of our culture of designing games and using this medium, we can explore how our culture evolved over time in games. Such games might include things that at the time were the normal, but could now be considered bad or inappropriate to do. By keeping info on the past, we can evolve to the future and keep our history alive. I am a fan of history, and losing any early digital games will cause issues in preserving our digital past. As a big fan of preserving video games, when i die, i plan to donate all my old nes and snes games to a video game preservation history society, something like this one:

https://gamehistory.org/

I am very passionate about preserving older games, and i hope some of you consider this. As the world is now, most companies release their game, fix them with patches after awhile, then just don't care and drop them. We already lost some early history of video games, and that is quite sad. Luckily most times people dump alpha builds of old games on the web for preservation. For example, a alpha version of the sonic game was released awhile ago to show what changes sega did to the game.

It saddens me alot that MAXIS nor EA do not care about preserving their old games. We lost DARKSPORE because of the neglect of preserving games. If you never heard of DARKSPORE, it was a spinoff game made by ea about spore where you play online with other people and fight bosses. It was a always online game and this is why it was lost, and also, many companies do this and retire the online parts of games, and since some games are online permanently, this is how they are lost.

So what does this have to do with the sims 1? I consider it the first AI controller game made by will wright that allowed you to control "sims". Originally called dollhouse simulator, this changed alot of things about gaming in the late 1990's and early 2000's. If MAXIS or EA tends to preserve this game, i would not have this discussion on here. I feel that older games should be put into a collection, and be able to be freely used by anyone to experience our culture via digital media. By refusing to save it, it would be like we forgot all movies we made, or perhaps we do not honor certain people by just forgetting about them. AS part of our culture, i feel this game should be preserved for the future, at least in some kinda form. Peferably physical. Anyways, i wanted to know what other people think of preservation of video games like the sims 1.

NOTE: I Did in the past try to convince EA/MAXIS to preserve the game. I also found a mod to allow one to play it on windows 10 pc's. I hope i can still play my physical copy on windows 11 when im forced again when i buy a new pc to get that new os.

QUESTION: What is your opinion about saving our digital games for future generations for historical and cultural purposes? Do you agree with me or not? Please post constructive commensts only below. Thank you for reading and have a nice day.

This month I'm playing TS1 for a little bit. I have two questions.
First the Sims Creator (extra program) won't save my skins I created and faces into the Game Data/skins files. I don't understand why. The booklet in the discs states we can make our own Sims, paint etc. and use the face mask features to save these skins in the Game Data skin files. And yes play those Sims...they should be showing up in the CAS in game after that.

I did this often back when TS1 was the current game, however, it seems with windows 10 or maybe something else this no longer works. Every time I have completed a new face for my game and click save etc. it says it saved them but then I look in the Program Files/Game Data/Skins and they aren't there.

A lot of people think we could never build our own custom Sims in TS1 but we could with this program (faces, painted clothes etc.)

Has anyone else playing with a patch to make SCC work in windows 10 having this sort of problem? Or is it actually a Windows 10 problem specifically? Any help would be appreciated.

Edit: I Solved this one. I finally figured out after a few days I have to set the Sims Creator to Run As Administrator in Windows 10 or it doesn't really save the heads and or clothes skins in the Program Files/ Maxis/Game Data/Skins file. Absolutely a Windows 10 issue both the game and Sim Creator must be set to run as administrator. (In case anyone in the future runs into this problem) It's great I added a lot of faces from pictures now I can play them!

This is fun! lol

The Second one is still unsolved. Maybe I will remember....

Second Question, how do we save houses built in one hood for another hood like in hood 5 etc. with more vacant lots? I built a few houses in the 1st and 3rd but want to use them in the 5th hood. I can't remember how to do this and the internet seems to have scrubbed almost all the important info that used to be common knowledge on the net.

Also if I remember correctly it wasn't limited to high star sims, but any sim with an agent. Does anyone know where I can find this? I've tried searching google but it's very hard trying to find older content.

Hi there! I was just shopping at my local resale/thrift store and I found the original Sims (2000) for $2.25. I have never played it in my life because I wasn't even born in 2000, lol. I have a Windows 10 laptop and I knew I was taking a risk, seeing that it probably won't work. Although when I insert the game into my laptop's CD drive, it gives me the option to set up the setup.exe file and my computer is asking me if I want to install the file from an unknown publisher and make changes to my device. Seeing as this is how you install anything else on a laptop, I should tentatively press 'yes', right? But, something in my gut is saying not to (my computer has already crashed twice in the past and I lost almost everything the second time, so I'm very cautious about things like this now.) I'm worried that if I press yes, something will go wrong because the game wasn't originally designed for Windows 10. I've tried looking up YouTube and website tutorials on this, but they're all pretty much about how to download the game from the web or about expansions. I just have the base game on a disc. That is all. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't know what else I could do except press yes on the popup, so I guess I'm just wondering if anyone else has been in the same situation, has gone through with it, what exactly happens, and if I should do the same. Thank you in advance for any help and for reading this long thing. Have a nice day!

Update: I contacted EA and Microsoft Support and I ended up pressing yes (after their advice). Long story short, I did a lot of different things and ended up going through the set-up process and everything, but I cannot get past the main menu. Apparently, I have to have administrator privileges to go any further, and from what I've looked up that is something quite complicated that I do not have the time, skills, or knowledge to deal with right now. I ended up just taking a photo of the game menu on my screen (for a fun nostalgic photo) and then deleted the game file folder and put the game box on my shelf as just a collector's item, and I'm accepting it won't work for me right now (if ever). Even though I haven't gotten any replies yet, thank you to those that were possibly trying to help me and just didn't get around to answering yet. I truly appreciate it. Dag dag!

OK way back in 2003 when I first started playing Sims 1, I remember there was an website offering some cool power-up items that manage to mod some of the in-game features. For example, some of the items in the mods even offered a sort of a cheat. Like when you use the shower, your hygiene needs will stay at the maximum range for a very long time. This also applies to some refrigerators and beds as well.

I remember that these kind of items being offered for a free download was done by a female Simmer. Unfortunately, I can't remember the name of the website. Did anyone of you guys come across these items? Did the website close down? Thanks!

At least this worked for me, with the complete collection, I found it here- https://www.🐸🐸🐸🐸🐸.club/t22742-the-sims-1-installation-unknown-error-encountered-aborting-setup#

Hello,

When you attempt to (re-)install "The Sims 1" from 🐸🐸🐸🐸🐸, the installer might not come up at all, or you may be confronted with the error message that is in the topic title of this thread ("unknown error encountered - aborting setup").

The error seems to be caused by a previous (faulty) installation of the game. What you should do now is this.

1. Make sure to unhide all hidden files/folders. In Windows 8 & 10, you should be able to mark the option "hidden items", shown in the screenshot here.

In Windows Vista and 7 go to the Control Panel -> Appearance and Personalization -> Show hidden files and folders. Under the tab "View", scroll down a bit and tick the option named "Show hidden files, folders and drives". Click on Apply, then OK.

2. Navigate to the location C:\Program files (x86). You should see a folder named "InstallShield Installation Information". Go inside it.

3. In my case, there was an entry for The Sims 1, with the folder name {F2527115-B8BF-4FDB-B5DA-5AADFB7C13E1}. If you see such a folder in your case, delete it, and try the installation again. Pay close attention to the folder name, so that you don't delete anything wrong ! If you don't have such a folder, you should check all other existing folders instead, under InstallShield Installation Information. Navigate inside each subfolder and open the "Setup.ini" files. Keep looking under "AppName" until you find the folder that contains "The Sims Complete" under AppName. And that is the folder you will need to delete.

My favorite of the Sims console games is Bustin' Out. So much cool stuff, and I have completed all the goals in the game a few times. However, the GameCube version (what I play) has one object that can only be unlocked with the GameBoy Advanced port of Bustin' Out.

My favorite part of the game was all the adventure that could be had with all the goals and locations, and of course, the man-eating mutant plant and rocket gnomes. However, the Feng Shui meter that limited the amount of stuff you could buy was less than desired (better than the Fire Code of The Sims 2 console though). So many hours of fun and frustration just to complete 150+ goals and seven career paths.

If The Sims 4 came out with a Bustin' Out DLC and/or stuff pack, I would be all over it. Do any other Simmers out there play Bustin' Out, or have any memories of the game that they would like to share?
