Hi!

Today my second generation, Douglas died along with his husband. Their son grew up into a adult the day after, and right now he's in a relationship with a sim I've had saved for him since he was a child. She is pregnant, and I plan on marrying them soon!

I hired more employees for the home business, also adding more things.

To sum this up, my third generation started, and some business work!

I'm trying to get back into Sims 2 after a two year pause and decided to play a business with one of my new families. They own a landfill, that works fine, and a car dealership, where I ran into a problem:

Twice now customers gave me the "I can't afford this" symbol when I presented the expensive sports car to them, despite being townies. I thought townies had a limitless budget?

The sims in question are a Garden Club member (Toby Bruenig) and a Social Townie (Sarah McCarthy). Are those exempt from the endless money rule?

I'm aware of the Townie Budget mod, but I don't have that one.

Is there a program out there that will enable going through one's CC to determine what is what? Looking at my downloads folder shows that most of the items are a long alpha-numeric string, which is useless for identifying what the item even is, let alone if it's something I want to keep. It's long past time for that folder to go on a diet and loose the stuff I will never use. I know what it is visually but have no idea what the corresponding file name is. I know there are some for TS4 out there, so hoping TS2 has its counterparts.

Favorite: The sims themselves. They are never better than in TS2, IMO.
Least favorite: No one else ages. Big bummer.

After reading about certain simmers that regularly play saves they've made ages ago, I got curious. How long do you guys typically play your saves for? What's the longest save you've ever had? And if you play other Sims games besides the Sims 2, which game do you find the easiest to keep playing for long amounts of time?

As for me, while I try to play save files for a long time, I almost always end up starting over again. I really like the idea of playing a neighborhood that has grown over generations, but I can never seem to make it work.

I have been downloading CC for sims 2 but I can’t for the life of me find quality makeup. Mostly eyeshadow and eyeliner. I did try to look all day yesterday

I'm a sims 2 fan but now I have sims 3 I find it hard to choose between the two. I also have sims 4 and a lot of the expansions but really find it lacking in something but can't work out what it is. It should be a great game and has some really nice features but I find I can only play it for about half an hour then I've had enough but I can play for ages on the other two.

What do other simmers think?

-Real honeymoons
-The grocery store freezer fogs up when you open the door and thaws seconds after you close it
-If you don't have the expansion pack that lets you save leftovers just slide them in your inventory
-Sims whistle The Sims 1 theme song
-Angry sims give other sims the death stare with a hand gesture
-If you have all family members and toddlers in their seats they will all get served by whoever made the meal

Hey Everyone,

Unfortunately, I'm still obsessed with The Sims 2! Back in the day, I purchased the entire collection myself on launch day either a physical or Origin copy. In recent years I've grown bored of the sims 4 and stopped playing and got a Mac instead.

Fortunately, MAC has the super collection available for download but not all the packs were released for MAC.

Is it possible to still download my original downloads if I were to get a PC computer?

I will always the sims 2!

This might be a dumb question or someone might've answered it already somewhere else that I couldn't find, but can you run Sims 2 on a Windows 11 PC? I recently upgraded from 10 to 11, and I was previously trying to figure out a way to play my favorite Sims game again. But now I'm having even more difficulties finding tutorials on how to do it because its a Windows 11. Do you guys know of any YT videos or written articles that would help a girl out?

TS2 on the EA app

OMG!!!! I've just had to restart the EA app this morning and now my TS2 is now showing up as The Sims 2 UC instead of the DD and now I am able to install it on my new PC.

So I want to thank @EA_Cade for letting EA know about this problem and getting it fixed as well as EA for fixing it for us. Now I'm a happy camper as I have TS2/3/4 on my PC...

WELCOME TO MY VERONAVILLE GAMEPLAY THREAD!

Here's what's going on - I've moved in all the premade families, made a family of my own, and added Cyd Roseland, the Ramaswamis and the Ottomases to the town as well (with the bin families from Bon Voyage + Free Time, and Apartment Life to follow in later years respectively) and am playing the families in turns with a general focus on Wants-based gameplay.

Rotational means that I'll play every moved-in household for 1 season (4 days) in a round. Once I have played every household through this season I will play the eventual university students, starting with the freshmen and ending with graduating the older group. After that I will move back to the main town to start with the next season.

Wants-based means that as a rule of thumb I try to accomplish whatever my Sims get as Wants as a general direction for how their lives develop. This way I feel like I'll get more interesting stories, instead of micromanaging every aspect of their life stories myself.

My Schedule is to upload a new post on the weekend once every two weeks. Every once in a while, if I've been really productive on playing and writing, I could post 2 episodes in 3 weeks, but those are more of an extra treat than a rule.

If you have any questions or comments feel free to ask and chat around a bit on this thread

Sims 2 Windows 10 app blocked by administrator, autorun.exe

Has anyone else ran into this?

I was able to play and install the Sims 2 before, but it's been some months and now I see I can no longer play. I uninstalled the game and now trying to install, I cannot play it.

When running the program, it tells me autorun.exe is blocked by an administrator. Ive tried looking at the properties and unblocking, but it doesn't even give me a security option. Ive tried disabling smartscreen in app & browser control, but that did not work either.

I had been playing TS2 in windowed mode through Origin by using the "-w" trick in Properties from the desktop icon. But since upgrading to the EA App, it seems that the game will no longer open in windowed mode. How I can fix it?

Can I send a teen to Uni but still play the base family?

I have a couple one of whom was given a lifetime wish of seeing 6 kids get married and so they started adopting kids in a hurry, but now the oldest is ready for college and is some kind of overachiever who really wants/needs to go...and I'm stalling because doesn't that mean I have to stop playing my original couple? I really don't want to do that, I'd rather just wave goodbye and hope they write.

And how do people do it if they have more than one college-bound teen in a family? You have to choose which teen will become your main sim and everyone else misses out?
Not sure what to do, I didn't want to stop playing my original couple and start playing one of their kids exclusively.

I have not played it for a while but I think Spring was for love, Summer was for friends, Fall was for learning skills and Winter was for family. I think I got that right. I have my university world weather set to summer and fall only.
I started playing a few sims at University and decided I would make one of my own sims to go .I did edit the dorm before he moved in but I forgot the smoke alarm. When he went to class they had a nasty storm and set fire to a few things outside. My poor sim died. And it made me laugh my head off. I had only played him for a couple of days

I would love if there was a new pack for The Sims 2. An anniversary or something. Maybe some stuff from the more current games but for Sims 2.

I still play Sims 2 regularly and it’s a shame it can’t be updated or there’s no new packs.

How do you decide how many kids your Sims have?

As the title states, how do you decide how many kids your Sims have?

Do you have an absolute maximum due to the number of Sims you can manage at one time or that your computer can handle?

Do you calculate a specific ideal family size and then work towards that?

Do you go solely based off the wants of your Sims?

For me, I have ACR 2.0 so I can set an ideal family size and then that is used in the mod's calculations for if they try for a baby or not.

If 2 Sims have a different Ideal Family Size the one that has the higher one has to persuade the one with a lower Ideal Family Size to have another baby once they've hit that Sim's number of kids. So if Dad's Ideal is 4 and Mom's Ideal is 2 and they have 2 kids already, Dad has to persuade Mom to try for another baby. Same if the Mom's Ideal is 4 and the Dad's Ideal is 2. Mom has to convince Dad to have another kid.

I have a formula for that as well that factors in the aspiration, number of kids that already exceed the lower Ideal Family Sim amount, among other things.

Missing sim now an NPC

She and her family vanished from the bin, and the home I set them up in. Also could not bring them back via my backups. I can only see her as an npc who dropped off the sim I'm currently playing from work (same career). Is there a way I can somehow find her household and put her back in the bin at least?

Currently playing Pleasantview and I was just thinking about a glitch I had when I got The Sims 2 when it was first released. This glitch happened before any patches were put out. I don't know if anyone else had this glitch or not, but I thought it would be funny to share and also ask what is your most memorable glitch?

My most memorable glitched happened when I was playing an elderly couple and they either threw a party or did the invite household option and invited over their child and spouse who had twin babies. (Yes, I invited the babies because I wanted to build the relationship I'm assuming with their grandparents before they passed) I remember them showing up with babies in their arms and just setting them on the ground, and when they eventually left the lot the babies remained on the ground. Since they didn't leave with their parents I was so confused and didn't know what to do. I bought cribs and was trying to take care of them even though they weren't apart of the household. I ended up saving and going back to neighborhood view and reloading the lot and they were still there...even in the loading image which was odd. At the time we had the old BBS forums and other Simmers were saying to delete them using move objects and they will be gone from that lot but still remain in their original household. So that's what I did. After deleting them and saving the game, I went to the neighborhood and loaded the lot they were supposed to be...and that's when I seen on the loading image NO BABIES! I was sweating bricks as the lot continued to load... once finally loaded my fears were realized as there was no babies anywhere. No where in the household, no where on the lot. I was devastated.

This memory will stick with me forever and ever since then I never tried to invite household or invite babies over lol.

I already use quite a bit of cc for my sims but I decided to go another step forward and edit them in my photo apps to try and make them look even more "realistic"... I don't know how I feel about the results... It's fun but sometimes a bit "uncanny valley"...

I have noticed a lil' trend going on where people like to swap Dustin and Dirk. Dustin is a bad boy, and Lilith looks like a rebel. While Dirk is studious and Angela seems to be a goody two shoes. I have never thought abotu swaping the couples, because to me Angela is putting on a facade, while to me Lilith is just an book that you shouldn't judge by its cover. I wanna know what the majority of you think about it.

Disk Installation?

What happens if you install Sims 2 on a current day-ish desktop PC from disk?
A few years ago, someone said if you ring up customer service and ask nicely they give you the downloadable version of the whole suite of Sims 2. So I did that, and that is what I have on my launcher, which I've opened for the first time in a year, and is now the EA App.
However, the graphics are weird, namely the resolution only has 800 x 600. Even the base game of the disk has more options than that, pretty sure, especially if your computer has the capability - it used to be in synch with that.
There was probably a few other things ...
So I remember now too that someone on here back then, said there were new mods to make it work, which I got and I think it did, but I was annoyed I needed them and that there were more than one.

So I'm wondering what issues anyone had with installing by disk? Will it work? Any pointers? I suppose I'd have to totally uninstall first.

Because I still have those, but not the full suite like from the download. I'm only missing few, and I never really wanted Pets.

Would you happen to know if I can buy the download of the extra expansions I want separately and add them onto the disk installation? That is what I did with Sims 3 originally - mixture of disk and download.
I'll have to see about finding all my old cc ...
