What happened in your sims 3 game today?

Hey everyone.
I've been playing Sunset Valley (along with the W mod) and I just made some CRAZY things happen yesterday and today with the Langerak Family. Hee hee
Well, I thought I would pick on this family for the fun of it. They seemed to have some dysfunction going on. Iliana (the mom) is a workaholic, Dustin (the dad) is lazy but loves family (he was in the criminal career when I started playing them. Not a good suit for his personality so I made him quit. He now has a part-time job at the bookstore). Their daughter Kaylynn seems to take care of everything while her older brother Parker, rebels and pays more attention to wooing girls than anything else. And to add craziness to the family, Iliana's sister Zelda Mae needed a place to live so, in she went. That is the original story of this family.
Now for what I did to them. Lol!
Iliana didn't like how much of a slob Dustin is and he in turn didn't like how much of a workaholic she is. And little did Iliana know that her husband and sister were...doing a lot of romantic things in secret while she was at work. Well, for a while she didn't know but then she was able to catch on. In anger she turned to her secret crush from work (Thornton Wolff) and begin having romantic relations with him. Meanwhile the kids are not exactly sure what has been going on...and Dustin and Zelda Mae had a risky woo hoo one night. Zelda got pregnant days later. At this time Dustin decided he had enough with Iliana and divorced her. Iliana then moved in with Thornton. Later, minutes before Zelda went into labor, Dustin proposed to her. The kids were pretty happy about it, they never saw much of their mother anyway. (Funny, this new baby would be their half-brother AND cousin...weird. )
A baby boy was born and they named him Link (sorry, I couldn't help myself ). Dustin and Zelda go off on a honeymoon and leave Parker and Kaylynn to care for the baby and the home while they are gone. (Seriously?) Well, Dustin asks the girl he's had a crush on for a while to Prom (River McIrish) and they go together and end up falling so hard for each other they become boyfriend and girlfriend. The next day, with the parents still gone, Parker is DYING to see River again and goes over to her house. They get frisky and...I'm pretty sure River is pregnant. Lol!
And that's where I left my game for today. Had to get back to reality.
I love how I can screw up sims lives or make them do things I would NEVER DO!!! It's so much fun!

Decorating Hacks!

Hello my fellow simming friends.

In my 18 years of playing the Sims I have seen a lot of super creative decorating (and building) "hacks" in the game, on the forums, or on YouTube by such creative players and I thought to myself, "Why not have a thread where people can share all the sweet decorating hacks they've discovered - all in one place - and pass them on so that others can enjoy the same hacks in their game." (I mean, if you feel like sharing. )

So let's get it started everyone!

*Show me some decorating hacks you saw, or invented on your own, that you now use often when decorating or building your sim's houses.*

I'll start us off.

MoveObjectsOn (MOO) is such a powerful hack tool that can really turn two, or more, items into one stunning piece of furniture, art, etc. (I know most of y'all know this already, I'm just sayin'. ) It gives so much more flexibility in creating something decorative you saw in real life in your sim's homes.

I'm always looking for ways to add a little decorative touch, or clutter, above the toilet tank. (Maybe it's because my mom always had a doily with some kind of decorative greenery on the top of the tank growing up. 🙃 ) Why EA did not provide slots for decorative items to rest on top of the toilet, I'll never know. (And yes I know about OMSP, but I wanted to showcase a non-cc way of doing it. )

So here's a recent look that I attempted...

Cute right? Now, it's important to make sure that sims can still use the toilet when you are attempting any decorating hacks above or beside the toilet using MOO. So I went ahead and tested that out:

The second decorating hack was one that was shared with me when I was building and decorating a home for the Disney Magic Kingdom world collaboration. I was on a simoleon budget and boy was that a challenge!!!

It was getting down to the wire and I wanted some rugs for the rooms, but alas, rugs are an expensive luxury (in that case ) and I did not have the funds for them when other items were needed in the home. So, after given this tip, I recolored the FREE floor tiles I used to give off a rug look in all the areas I wanted rugs. 👍🏻 Genius right? I really wish I could take the credit for it. Lol! But nah, it's cool.

This is also a great hack when you're NOT on a budget and just want a nice square, or diamond shaped, rug in the pattern of your liking that you can't quite get from the rugs provided in game. 👍🏻

Sorry the lighting isn't great in this picture, but in the foyer area of this home I changed a couple of the tiles on the floor with a cc fabric pattern I have and created one cute and stylish doormat rug.

Let me do a zoom out here so you can see the whole room:

But yeah that was like a 4 simoleon cost for that "rug" as opposed to 25-50 simoleons for buying a normal rug in that size. And of course you can make rugs MUCH bigger in a room using this method compared to the average size of large rugs. 👍🏻 WIN!

All of these worlds have a similar feel to them in real life! What worlds are inspired by real cities?

Sunset Valley has a theme that's similar to a inland town in California, due to the palm trees at the beach and large amounts of land. However, it also feels similar to inland Washington State or Oregon because it's hilly and mountainous at the outskirts of the world

Twinbrook has a Texas feel to it, because of the large feel to the area. However it has a San Francisco vibe to it as well due to the hilly aspects of the terrain

Bridgeport definitely New York

Appaloosa Plains looks a lot like Denver in terms of mountainous terrain

Starlight Shores is definitely Los Angeles

Moonlight Falls looks a lot like Western Washington because of it's tree cover and hilly terrain but also seems similar to places like Wyoming

Isla Paradiso feels like the Pacific Islands.

What Are Your Favorite and Least Favorite Sims 3 Expansions Packs?

As the title states. A question that has been asked before, but one that is always fun. The Sims 3 EPs introduce a plethora of new features, we all obviously have our favorites. What are yours?

My personal favorite has to be Ambitions. As somebody whose rather career-oriented IRL, I loved that we finally had the opportunity to follow our sims to work and directly engage with their workspaces and colleagues. Every new profession introduced in Ambitions was fun and engaging IMO, and I loved the skills, especially inventing. Not to mention that Twinbrook is one of my favorite towns in the entirety of The Sims, and the Simbot is my favorite life state.

My least favorite pack has to be Showtime, for a myriad of different reasons. Firstly, the entire premise is simply a re-do of Late Night with a stronger focus on stage performances. That automatically makes many of its features redundant. Secondly, SimPort is simply a bad idea. The Sims, at least for me, has always been a single player experience. I do not want any built-in online features. But a substantial portion of Showtime's features are semi-reliant on it, which of course means that the pack has a bit of a shelf life when EA inevitably shuts down online features for The Sims 3. Thirdly, I didn't really enjoy the careers the EP provided at all. I played with them once, and haven't touched them since. The only reason it remains on my hard drive is due to me occasionally making use of the genie and me finding use for some of the buy mode items. I've played every other EP extensively, most of them since their day of release. Showtime was the only exception as it was the only one I had zero interest in whatsoever, though I obviously did buy it about a year later when it was on sale.

Sadly, polls in The Sims Forums only allow a total of 10 options, so one of the EPs had to be excluded. I selected Into The Future, simply because it was the final EP. Please comment below if that is your favorite EP, however!

Bought Roaring Heights world on EA App. Where is it?

You ever download a new piece of custom content that looks perfect in the pictures online...only to get in-game and see this:

Well, I can fix that! So I figured I'd offer my services to any of you here - Link me to the CC you want that looks wonky in game and I'll repair it and send you the fixed version.

CC I can fix

Clothing
Shoes
Accessories

I haven't learned how to work with hair, so don't send it to me.

Problems I can fix

CC items enabled for age groups they shouldn't be enabled for. Like this:
CC items that explode in-game. Like this:
CC items that aren't properly morphed. (CC that doesn't increase in size to accommodate sims larger or smaller than default size).

And just some final notes: Firstly, I won't go through adfly or similar links to get CC. If what you want fixed goes through adfly, please link me the simsfileshare/mediafire/dropbox/etc link and not the adfly link. And, secondly and finally, I will do whatever it takes to fix this stuff for you guys. I know how frustrating it is to find CC like this that is obviously broken, but released anyway. With some CC, that might mean that it'll take me a bit longer to properly fix it. So I ask that you be patient.

With that said, send me all you got! I'd be happy to help!

Where do I reinstall all the store content

how do I reinstalled all the store content by redownloading, I cannot find out where to do this on the AE site. I am so upset I love the sims 3 and now I cannot play. I was playing a survival game and there is no tent and so many other sims, my sim is into martial arts and how there is no poll to continue. so where is all the content, I do not see it anywhere on the AE page where do I download the game. appreciate any help you can give.
I do not want to play the sims 4, I love the sims 3 Please if you can help me I would appreciate it so much. I am so hart broken as I cannot play.

hello Everyone, I am back with my Sims 3 and they are now working

as some know I could not play my sims 3. but praise the Lord, I went on my sims 3 game and had a world saved, the one I play in the most. I clicked on it and low and behold it played, I will say that I did have to do some updates on some lots, as I had different lots. I had all my saved lots. so I just went along and reset them. I am so happy. I have not tried another world to see If I can start a new world, but I will try and see what happens, and if it does not work with other worlds, that is ok, because I play the world I am in most of the time, Mercury Island. I am so happy, I have played all day. hee hee.
Well I went back on and I downladed Sunset Valley and it works just fine also. I am so glad, I tried sims 4, but I don't really like it. I am now on my Sims 3 and happy

“Role sims" not getting added to service household?

Hello, does anyone know why role sims such as lot mixologists and consignment store cashiers, labeled as "homeless sims," are not being moved away from the "non-service homeless" caste and into the service household? I turned on the option in Story Progression to make this happen. Does this transfer happen infrequently?

Anyone's Houseboat or Beachfront Story?

Does anyone have a story on a houseboat or on a lot on a beachfront like the lots in Isla Paradiso? I'm interested in seeing pictures of it in action. If not, can anyone tell me about their experience playing one, anything to watch out for, tips?
Also, any from an island lot, as in have to travel by boat to town and work? Is it too much trouble and mucking around or does it make it a bit interesting?

@Karritz I see you have an Isla Paradiso series. Which episode has them living on a houseboat, or a half-submerged/waterfront lot or a total island lot where they have to take a boat to go anywhere all the time? Did your sims ever live on any of those types of lots? What was it like?

Since we’ve had multiple threads that have been posted and have heretofore gone completely missing in the depths. i’m going to ask @EA_Mai to pin this thread.

And to start off this asking thread:

I am trying to find a plain Sikh turban for my Sim. I’m needing an excuse to make a sim for my Legacy who is going to be the Landlord of the property that Haruo, River and the rest are renting during their four years at university and the Landlord is a Sikh so the male needs a plain turban.

As for the women, there is a special head-covering for them as well for every day attire and depending on sect they don’t have to wear a head-covering. As far as I know some don’t. I live in an area where there are a lot pf South Asian immigrants so I don’t want to do the stereotypical depiction in ceremonial clothes any day, every day.

I love getting to know how other people play their sims games. Not really to judge them, but more because it's always interesting to hear different answers and to see different perspectives. This is to share and just have fun. I love meeting different types of players. I'm going to start with a few questions and then everyone can take it from there.

Do you like to play premade sims or create your own?
Do you make stories out of your sims, play sims for challenges (ex: Not So Berry or challenges you make for yourself), for science reasons, play for achievements or just play the ts3 without really any personal goals? I guess to narrow it down, what kind of simmer are you?
When you play premade sims, do you edit their facial structures and or their traits (I unfortunately do this sometimes) or just leave them how they are? And do you change their outfits and hairstyles or do you let them wear whatever is randomly given to them?
Do you have more than one save (Like myself) or do you focus on just the one save?
Do you have a favorite sim(s) you absolutely love to play (premade or self made)?
What is your favorite thing about ts3 or your favorite packs?
What lifestyles do you usually pick for your sims if you make them? (ex: chef, gardener, firefighter, medical etc)
How long have you been playing ts3?

No one HAS to answer all of these or answer any at all, but it's fun to meet the different types of players and see their game experience from their perspective.

I'll start. Well, I love to play both premade and create my own sims. I kind of have stories playing out in my head, but I usually set personal goals for my sims. I do enjoy a challenge. I do sometimes edit premade sims traits and and all. I don't try to change way too much of them, because I don't like taking too much away from what makes that sim them. It's usually adjusting their jaws, eyes, nose or haircolor, and if I mess with the traits its usually just one trait. But I do, however, change their clothes and hairstyles. I have more than one save. I try really really hard not to have more than one, but sometimes its so hard to. Especially when you want to try out living in a different town, but you don't want to make your sims there, because you're happy with where they are, now. For example, my sims Lindsey.

I wanted so badly, to have a sim live in Monte Vista, but I didn't want to move the two premade families I am currently working on in a separate save, so I made her. I also made her for science reasons too. Mostly to do with the future.
My favorite sims will always be the ones I make based on myself and my family, without a doubt. But aside from them, my favorite premade sims to play are the Bunch and Goth family. I love playing the Bunch family especially. Each kid having their own life goals and you can live through it all with them. But out of the Bunch family, I love playing Darlene the most. She makes the game more interesting....because of how unlucky she is...
My favorite packs for ts3 would have to be seasons and pets and I like some of the things that ambitions give you. Like the new choices for jobs. Really broadens my choices. I'm starting to get into the future pack, but at first it made me kind of sad. When I saw the wasteland, it broke my heart seeing it like that...but the plumbots and sprites are so flipping awesome. So, back to the future might be on the list if all goes well. When I make sims, I tend to always lean towards things that I like. Gardening, cooking, education, jockey. But with premade sims who are still kids and haven't decide on their lifetime wishes, for them I usually pick a lifetime wish that I feel best suits them. (That's if I'm playing the premade.)
Now, for the last questions. I have been playing ts3 since 2015. I bought the game through origin thinking I wouldn't like it, because nothing can be better than ts2, but I actually found myself enjoying it more than I expected. Honestly, I know some people might disagree, but out of ts2 and ts3, ts3 is by far my favorite. Not saying its better than ts2, but it's personally my favorite.

So how do you like to play your game? I saw a post on another forum and wanted to get opinions here for 2022 since the games been out so long (last one I saw on here was 2013). Do you play your game with no mods, limited mods or heavy mods?

****Let me reiterate when I put, " gotta have them all", I was joking. I assure you I don't believe people who heavily mod their game have to have all of them (I guess I'm kind of a Pokemon nerd too so I added something in there that fell flat and my apologies for that).

I was going to ask two specific questions, but I thought it would be useful to have a general thread for sims 3 players asking if there a mod that does a specific thing, or a specific kind of cc.

My questions are:

1. Does anyone now of CC furniture that has the functionality of a crib but looks like something else? For example, a crib that looks like an armchair or coffee table to place in a library, museum or bar, or a crib that looks like a bench to place in a park? (Cribs don't make sense on most lots, but I hate to see sims placing their babies on the floor!)

2. Is there a mod that allows resorts to be used for wedding parties? (I know that my sims can get married in a resort if they own it or if they are staying in it, but I would like to be able to throw a real wedding party and invite non-household sims. Of all the community lots in the game resorts are the best equipped for wedding parties, so the inability to do this seems like an oversight!)

Which ONE trait do you find the most annoying in the Sims 3 for your sims to have?

I have created a list of the Top 9 Traits that I find the most annoying in the game and never give to my Sims (maybe on a very rare occasion when I'm creating a certain sim for a story). And I want to see how many people agree with me.

#1 is the trait I really never ever ever give my Sims and that is Never Nude. (So that's my vote) Because c'mon, who showers with their clothes on and is honestly never nekkid in life? NO one!

Lot types for Sim State Business Mod

Does anyone have success stories of using the Sim State Business mod? I'm trying to do a sort of rag to riches with a toy shop in Midnight Hollow and I've already bought a lot and opened the store except the lot is listed as a Hangout and constantly says closed when I go into map view. I've tried listing the lot as Visitors Allowed however it sells the lot and I don't have an option to buy it back.

Questions About Disk Install to 1.67

I decided to take the plunge to 1.67 because EIG doesn't work in CAW with the EA app. I did a trial install on my old laptop. I have disks for everything but Showtime, Island Paradise, and Into the Future. The only stuff pack I have on disk is High-End Loft Stuff. I have a bid on eBay for a Katy Perry/Showtime disk. The auction ends in two days and I am the only bidder. I will be buying the other stuff packs as I am able.

I found a thread where igazor walked someone through a disk install. I loaded the game with just the base game installed and played for a bit and everything seems to work. I have everything installed and have run the Super Patch. I declined to install the download manager every time it was offered. As @ts1depot and @Damienf519 discussed on another thread, I was already aware of the error message regarding Origin, so I didn't freak out when it came up.

When I quit the launcher using the x, I get a message that the game is still uploading. I don't know what that's about. Is this normal or did I do something to cause this?

After installing everything I had, I noticed that the Launcher doesn't have the option to select specific expansions to play. I guess that was a feature with 1.69. So I am guessing I didn't want to install every single expansion on my old laptop?

Will I have to uninstall expansions until my game isn't super laggy? If so, which expansions would you recommend I play with for now? I ordered a USB CD/DVD drive for my new laptop to do the 1.67 installations there, but the drive won't come in until next Thursday.

I added my Mods folder, including the No CD mod, and am ready to run the game again. And yes, I have the 1.67 version of Error Trap. From what I read, that should be the only NRaas mod that has to be 1.67. Well, apparently, the game doesn't like one or more of the mods. I couldn't get so lucky. I moved most of the NRaas mods out, along with several others from other creators. I was able to load the game without the CD and didn't get the error. So now I have to introduce the mods a few at a time until I find the offending mod. I'll tackle that in the morning. I'm exhausted. Wish me luck.

I am looking for suggestions, hints, tips, and any other tidbits of knowledge you are willing to share that will help make my transition to 1.67 easier.

I know I can start the game without the launcher. Do I want to use the ts3 file or the ts3w file?

For some reason, Dragon Valley didn't install. It seemed to be done far too soon. I'll try again in the morning.
