Hello Simmers!

It is my pleasure to announce that we are enabling a much-requested feature on the forums today - Polls!

Everyone loves polls and they can be used in many different ways, so just to dip our toe into the poll lake slowly, we will start out by enabling this feature in the Sims 4 Feedback sections only. But don't worry we hope to enable this on other forums as well soon - we just need to run some tests first.

Head over here to find out how to start your own poll!

Don't hesitate to leave any feedback you have on this in the Forum Ideas & Feedback board.

Hello Simmers,

As polls are now enabled and I thought I would just give you folks a quick run down on how to make your own poll.

To start a poll hit the little drop-down arrow next to New Discussion and select New Poll

Select the question you want to ask. For example: "What is your favorite Sims 4 expansion?"

Add any additional description/images to the poll.

Only tick the box "Make this poll anonymous (user votes are not made public)." if you do not want people to see who voted for what. People can still see the poll results after voting or by clicking "View Results".

Add the options for answers - maximum 10 choices can be given. In this example: Get to Work, Get Together, City Living, Cats & Dogs.

Hit Save Poll to post your brand new poll!
PS! Once you hit Save Poll you will not be able to edit the Poll options, but you can edit the title/question and the additional description

Polls will have an orange Poll tag next to the subject line/question to help them stand out.

That's about it folks - it is really nice and simple

PS! Please do keep in mind all the usual Forum Rules apply to polls as well!

Have fun and happy polling!

Hello, Sims Community!

It's been a while since our last chat. We've had a lot going on here at Maxis; thus my time has been limited and I haven't been able to chat with all of you as much as I would like. This also meant that I haven't been able to moderate the forums as much as I would've liked, though you all have been amazing at sticking to the rules and guidelines and for that I thank you.

Today is the kick off for some much-needed changes for these forums. The first is that I will now have help here on the forums! I will let you read their introduction here. You might recognize some of the EA Staff from the AHQ forums and these wonderful folks are going to be assisting me with moderation and keeping these forums organized and clean. With this change, we now have a new set of forum rules and guidelines so we are more streamlined across EA.

Some things to keep in mind:

These new folks are here to make sure the forums are maintained properly and are an extension of myself.

They do not work in studio and we will have appropriate forum markings put into place so you can differentiate between them and Maxis.

Thank you all for being so patient and please be sure to give the new moderators a warm welcome

Hey everyone,

We’re the EA Community Forum team and we’re happy to say that going forward you’ll start to see more activity from us on all EA Forums.

We just wanted to take a moment to introduce ourselves.

Who are we?
The EA Forum Team works on… all of EA’s game forums (yep, that was a little obvious, haha). Our team works in seven different languages (and counting). We are based in Galway, Ireland, and Austin, Texas, and come from over 10 different countries.

Are we Sims Community Managers or developers?
The short answer is - no. Everyone working directly with the studio itself is easily recognizable by having "Sim" in their forum names and titles like the SimGuru and the SimQA Team. The EA Forum Team members will have EA_ (like me EA_Mage) before their names.

We’re here to look after the Community on the Forums, to make sure the Sims forum is a safe and fun place for all Simmers!

The forum side could be anything from creating a post about a change, moderating or generally just interacting and helping you.

Some of the things we do will be behind the scenes and things we can’t share but we’ll do our best to make sure we’re interacting with you as much as we can.

We want your feedback!
We’d like your feedback about what you want to see from the Forums. Is there a section that needs to be added? One that needs to be removed?

Are there posts that you’d like to see made, or some that need to make a return?
If you do have feedback to give then make sure to head over to our Forum Feedback section and keep things constructive.

If you see us around don’t be afraid to say hi. If you want to find out more about individual team members, check out this thread.

We’re looking forward to being here.

Hello everyone!

A year has passed since I started engaging with all of you on these forums and during that time I've been looking at what works and what doesn't within this space. As such I'll be making a few changes that will help all of you and additionally will help us with moderation.

I will be breaking this down by sections:

The Sims 3

This is still a bustling community with a lot of topics of discussion. We will be condensing the Packs sections to no longer contain individual pack conversations. These sections are not as active as they used to be as most activity is happening with the TS3 General Discussion. Soon you will find all the content for all the TS3 Expansion Packs within the TS3 EP Discussion category and the same goes for TS3 Stuff Packs. - COMPLETED

The Sims 3 UK section will now have it's content filtered into the appropriate main sections of The Sims 3 area. As there isn't as much activity in that section and most members are engaging in the general section we feel this will help boost The Sims 3 section and to focus conversation. - IN PROGRESS

The Sims 4

The Sims 4 Stuff Pack section will now be merged into general discussion. - COMPLETED

The Sims 4 Expansion Pack section will now contain all conversation in one area for EPs rather than be split up by EPs. - COMPLETED

The Sims 4 Game Pack section will now contain all conversation in one area for GPs rather than be split up by GPs. - COMPLETED

The Sims 4 Creative Corner will be merged into it's own Creative Corner section along side creative sections for Sims 2 and Sims 3. We really want to help highlight our creative community in one space instead of separating by which version you are playing on. - IN PROGRESS

If a section wasn't listed on here it will not be moved / merged.

Additionally, we will have a fresh new set of rules and guidelines for posting in the forums to continue to ensure that we are staying up to date and to keep this a safe space to communicate and engage with the devs, moderators, and fellow community members. - POSTPONED

Thanks and I hope you are all having a wonderful week!

The buttons are there to help with engagement between yourselves and fellow community members and should not be used to harass users.

It feels like I just posted about some updates to the forums and here I am again

Over the course of the week I asked for you to vote about two specific reaction buttons and you have asked for them both to stay but for the name of Zagadoo to return back to Disagree. For the time being this change has been implemented --please keep in mind that the Disagree button is remaining on a trial basis only as we see how you are using the button and whether it is going to help or hinder discussions.

In light of recent feedback I received over the course of the past few weeks I have also enabled the Insightful button. Quite a few of you asked for this button as you felt it would be really helpful, especially in the tech discussion areas.

Thank you for continuing to provide such wonderful feedback on things you would like to see in the forums!

Hello Everyone!

It has been quite a bit of time since an update has been made to the forum but here I am with some news about what I've been working on.

First you will notice that the forums have been a bit condensed. There are so many sections in the forums that it is a little too time consuming to scroll through so I've simply made a main category and put all of the previous categories as new sub categories. All of the original content is still there it's just simply shifted.

A new section has been added for The Sims FreePlay! If you play it feel free to hop into those sections and chat with others about the game

Other updates:
PM Size

Several of you have reached out about increasing the size of private messages and I am here to inform you that you can now add up to 5 people in one PM! Which brings it a total of 6 people in a message (5 + the sender)

Best of

The section got a little bit of a face-lift so it is easier to read.

New Button!

I have added a new button: Disagree. I want to be clear that this button does not provide badges but I still wanted to provide you with a new button to use.

Just a small little update for all of you! Please feel free to send me a message or post suggestions on my wall for things you'd like to see added to or improved in the forums.

Happy Simming!
