  • Maybe they were using one of those wireless earbud-like gizmos to have a phone conversation? (What are those things even called?) Real world teenagers will use these to converse with each other when in the same house, on the same floor, even if it's a fairly small house. I have witnessed this firsthand. They can also look…
  • For most people, this would likely be the ideal option. Unless a player was involved in serious testing or mod development, trying to set up a parallel installation would be far more trouble than it would be worth.
  • There've been a number of instances of hurt feelings between Daniel and his dad.. over bad football passes. I've had to have Daniel practice with other students at school rather than with his father, as for some reason the football causes an entirely unrealistic amount of familial strife. (It can also result in a Bonding…
  • As odd as it sounds, I'm intrigued by the idea that the new systems might make the relationships between living sims and their departed loved ones more interesting. Two of my families have (playable) ghost relatives still haunting old ancestral homes, which they did actually used to live in before moving. They've even come…
  • Probably the simplest way to do this would be to set up a dual boot system. Provided you had licenses for both installations, I don't see any possible legal complications. It would probably be possible to run two different installations of the game on the same OS, but you'd end up having to do a certain amount of file…
  • The game has never been pure chaos for me, excepting times when I've done something foolish like make Cast Spells a club activity, but my sims do plenty of things I don't expect, and often find very funny. However, I allow my sims a great deal of autonomy in their little lives, and mainly operate as a sort of benevolent…
  • I think what many people who don't pre-order are going to be waiting for are bug reports from other players who did, and tales of other instances in which things are apparently not "working as intended." I've pre-ordered myself, and will be busy trying to find workarounds for those sorts of things, as it's more productive…
  • Maybe it's like a law of physics, such that there has to be a negative thread to balance out the positive thread? Seriously though, when people get excited about something, there's always going to be a critical aspect to that. Having a discussion which deliberately encompasses the latter probably leads to less conflict…
  • Father Winter really gets into the spirit of Sulani, and shows up in beachwear during his Winterfest visits to my family living at Key Point. (He has to swim to get to their house, and doesn't change back into his Father Winter costume.) In a similar sense, the mailman will swim over to deliver the mail, even after the…
  • There will be a parade if this ever gets fixed.
  • Just ran a test scenario, and sadly this does not seem to have been corrected.
  • I was hoping that this might have been quietly fixed in the last update, but the offending principal still exhibits this behavior in the test save I've kept in order to poke around at this problem. He was "fired" for this in the save I actually play. (No, I didn't kill him, I used a cheat to remove the principal job trait…
  • Whichever paparazzi happens to be stalking one of my sims. (Unless there is a vampire or teen in the household, in which case they become either a convenient source of snacks or forced to tutor the teen during their homework, both without compensation.) I don't ever perpetrate actual harm upon them, but they are often…
  • From what I've seen, he gets generated with 0-3 random traits, and is always a young adult, adult or elder. I imagine there're some traits he's coded not to have, though it'd be interesting to find out what others have seen in that regard. I've seen Grim as a Mean, Evil elder, a young adult Bro, and Childish Goofball…
  • Vacations in Sulani are mainly good if you're sick of freezing cold, as it never seems to drop below cool temperatures there, even in winter. However, you're essentially trading the possibility of blizzards for the possibility of monsoons. It's better to take a couple days there, and then extend your vacation if the…
  • While experimenting with them, I discovered that while the Copypasto spell cannot duplicate moonpetals, the cloning machine from the Scientist career can. One of those instances where mad science works better than magic. I should compile a list of things which can be duplicated by one, but not the other. For instance, the…
  • Alas, without mods it isn't possible to marry Grim, though what he says when asked if he's single is pretty hilarious. Though one can't have a baby with him, a sim can w**h** with him, and I believe there's even an achievement for that. Attempting to seduce Grim is also one of the more humorous options one can attempt when…
  • I've resorted to vacations for families stuck in lengthy horrid weather, more than a couple times. Seems like a perfectly realistic and acceptable solution to me! My only real complaint, when it comes to thunderstorms, is that lightning seems to be strangely attracted to beach towels. The pair of buddies I have living in…
  • I've gotten this as well, on rare occasion. I wish the game would be more specific about what it believes doesn't belong, as I've never found anything missing after seeing such a message. Though I can't prove it, I suspect this happens when the game finds temporary objects which for some reason didn't get removed as they…
  • Unless you go out of your way to befriend him, he does seem to be a pure game mechanism. Occasionally he will do funny things like sing on karaoke machines when he decides to stick around after a reaping. However, if you can manage to create some manner of relationship with him, he will become a bit more personable and his…
  • For sims who live in Sulani, this is more the case in winter. Actually, rain and thunderstorms are fairly uncommon in Sulani during other seasons. I've had to resort to a bit of weather control via Dr. June's device, on the rare occasion, when that threatens to disrupt an outdoor event one of the households are having. I…
  • I've found it's easier to play as the toddler, and have them ask a caregiver for what they need. It seems to result in far fewer interrupted actions. This seems to be especially true with toddlers who have the Wild trait, as it can be a challenge just keeping up with them, never mind dealing with gameplay quirks.
  • Most of my sims have family lives of one sort or another, so most of what I've read about it seems as though it will enhance that sort of gameplay. I do hope that there's as much focus on friendships, as most of my sims also have extensive social lives. It would be very nice to see more done with concepts like best…
  • Many of mine do as well, especially since we got the ability to have them paint from reference. I would have to say that virtually all of my sims are skilled painters, photographers, or both. It's a lot more fun having them preserve interesting images and scenes themselves. Thus far, I've seen him savor the smell of paint…
  • A couple of them work in unexpected/funny ways, compared with how they're supposed to. I tried adding Wild Foxes, figuring it would be amusing if there were foxes on the grounds. No foxes appear, but NPC students become Terrified while outdoors on school grounds. Apparently the student body is very frightened by even the…
  • I'm probably an unusual simmer in that I don't try to direct the relationship lives of sims, I just "encourage" the romances they autonomously decide on between themselves. Put another way, only once they've started expressing an interest in each other will I give nudges to help things along. (I also don't meddle with…
  • When it comes to the game itself, I most enjoy the sort of humor which surprises me, rather than the sort I create myself. Sims can do the most ridiculous, side-splittingly funny things when left to their own devices long enough. However, a good bit of it is very situational, and wouldn't be nearly as hysterically funny if…
  • I don't much care for them either, when they're on a sim's home or business lot, mainly because they steal things. Unfortunately, without using mods or cheats, all that can be done is to lock them out or deal with them situationally. I won't intentionally harm or kill sims, and I generally avoid being cruel to them, but I…
  • There are a few ways I've found to deal with paparazzi. 1. Get a dog, and develop your sim's skills enough that they can sic the dog on them. This works every bit as well as one might imagine. 2. If you are a spellcaster, turning them into inanimate objects works nicely. The paparazzi will be very uncomfortable and quickly…
  • I've never paid much attention to achievements, and I don't make much use of cheats. The only times I use the latter are a. to circumvent known and yet-to-be-laundered game bugs, or b. in order to test things (usually bug-related) in saves I keep for that particular purpose.
