I love it all but I especially love seeing my Sim families progress through generations and their cycles of life, creating their stories. It's what keeps me attached to them.

For me it is definitely game play. But I do enjoy just building sometimes (actually what I really like is renovating). I download houses off the gallery and remodel them. Most of my houses and buildings are remodels.. But I probably wouldn't play the game at all without good enough gameplay. I only use CAS when I need to make a sim for my world. I enjoy making them, but only because I know their story already and am creating the sim for that story. I could never just like, sit around making random sims. I wouldn't get any enjoyment out of it.

    70% Gameplay
    20% Build
    10% CAS
Features I'd like brought back from the dead.
    | Picture in Picture mode | Custom Paintings | Preset scenarios for resident sims | Placing my own lots |
    | Saving my own Buy Mode collections! | Saving an outfit in CAS | CaSt. Smaller is ok | Open World |

Compared to Sims 2 and Sims 3...
    • Sims look their best here, no question about it
    • S4MP multiplayer mod, a huge factor
    • Runs the best (Sims 2 runs the risk of corrupting while Sims 3 runs badly and is prone to crashing)
    • Best CAS customization by far (hats being usable on any hair is such a blessing, voices being used across genders, frames can be used on any gender etc best for LGBTQ people by far)
    • Best Build/Buy mode
    • Has the best mods
    • Emotions and sentiments are very fun to play with, especially causing a Sim to die from being too angry
    • Has the most amount of deaths

    CAS (Create-A-Sim)
It's got to be CAS for me. I am totally that kind of player that spends hours creating the perfect household, and have some sort of epic gameplay strategy or plan, then play for like thirty minutes and get bored lol.
    Sims 4 Wish List:
    • > Option to toggle on/off random townie generation.
    • > Turn vacation worlds into residential worlds.
    • > Option to purchase separate worlds or a world pack.
    • > Sleepwear kit.
    • > Atomic age kit.

TS4 is much more CC friendly than 3 was. It is far easier to install and remove CC now vs the clunky system in 3.

I wish TS4 had the traits and aspirations that TS3 had. The traits and aspirations were far and away better in TS3.

I totally agree on the appearance of the sims themselves. The ones in TS3 weren't as nice looking. I can't find the right word to describe them, ugly is too harsh, vaguely odd is the best I can think of.

Multiplayer is a non-starter for me, but if others enjoy it and it works, I'm happy for them.

I didn't have a lot of crash issues with TS3 but the load screens were absolutely maddening. It is good to think back on that whenever I get frustrated with the load screens in TS4. It could be worse, much worse.

The two CAS systems are so far apart in terms of quality it boggles the mind. Same as the load screens, this is a good reminder that, as much as we complain about the current system, it could be a lot worse.

In TS3 I was strictly a redecorator vs now where I'm into everything, so I interact with BB much differently now. I didn't spend much time in BB in TS3 to really have a lasting impression of it.

I like the gallery and its incredible potential, but as someone who enjoys playing with the Sims, it's not ideal for me to download a beautiful house made by some talented builders and make beautiful sims and then... not enjoy actually playing! But, yes, the gallery and the way it has enabled the sharing of builds is truly amazing, and few people recognise it.

Gameplay all the way for me. I love that I can play The Sims as a time management game, or arrange my sims for a scriped story or anything in between.

I also enjoy dressing my sims up in CAS, but not the face and body sculpting. When I say I gave a sim a "Makeover" I usually mean that I put them in new clothes and maybe changed the hairstyle.

    Build & Buy Mode
I chose build/buy mode as it’s too time consuming to create outfits in CAS without create-a-style, and there isn’t many fun activities for sims to do in live mode.

There are no cars or amusement parks with rides, carnival games and candy floss. There are no banks to rob for our criminal sims. There are no resorts or casinos. There is no water skiing, wind surfing, paddle boats or speed boats. There is no tennis or golf. There is no candy making skill so sims can make chocolates to sell in their retail stores. There is no charcuterie skill so sims can make ham, bacon and sausages from around the world for the deli department of their grocery stores.

    CAS (Create-A-Sim)
I love CAS, and the flexibility it affords. I love the ability in CAS to create anything from aliens to freakishly disformed sims to supermodels.

I've become fairly decent at it, but there are some here that are far better than I am

Anymore I would say ( because of bugs )…..
    40%. Gameplay
    20%CAS
    20% browsing the gallery
    And
    20% B/B……

5 years ago it was mostly Gameplay.

I spend the majority of my time playing...like 70-80%, so I said Gameplay. But, I truly believe that TS2 has far better gameplay than TS4 and the reason I play TS4 way more than TS2 is that CAS and Building are dramatically superior in TS4.

So...despite voting Gameplay, technically the reason I'm playing is because of everything except the gameplay. I'm a walking contradiction.
This post will be edited by StormKeep at some point.

    Build & Buy Mode
torn between build/buy and cas, but bb is what im truly able to get lost in, i can put hours into it and and return to the same build over multiple days. with cas, the stars need to align or something for me to truly enjoy it but when i do its extremely fun. gameplays a bit similar in that regard, but i always lose interest before i can actually do any of the things i planned to do, so i always end up a bit disappointed.

    Build & Buy Mode
I spend most of my time in build/buy when I play just because the gameplay in the sims 4 usually bores me after an hour. I still play the sims 2 and 3. The sims 2 for the gameplay and the sims 3 for gameplay and the open world. When I want to build or decorate I play the sims 4. Even CAS is a lot better in the sims 4 but I've never been one to stay in CAS long.

I like both building and story telling however building my own house designs are awful but I build fine when building real life houses.

To me, NPC aging and the ability to talk to another sim while doing something make the game play in Sims 4 already superior to Sims 2.

(A more minor point for the game, but a big deal for me personally, is that 17 years after same-sex marriage started to become legal in the USA we still can't do it in TS2, we can only have those "commitment ceremonies" which were always such bittersweet exercises in real life)

    CAS (Create-A-Sim)
I know gameplay is crucial, but that in TS4 is so bland compared with TS2 that I have it and CAS about equal. I discovered years ago that TS4 CAS is almost a game in itself thanks to the great variety of options. The addition of CC has only added to the fun. Now, if only the CC folks were more careful with their meshes...

    > It's actually a combination of all. I enjoy gameplay the most but can get lost in creating sims or building from time to time. I use the gallery mainly in a functional, practical way to cut down on time in CAS and BB when I want to return to gameplay quickly. I will rarely just browse the gallery but I am happy it's there when I quickly want to grab something for my game.

Very much agreed, and also to add on, gameplay in TS4 is more interesting than CAS a lot of times.

Since this is an 'absolute' question, yet says "what do you enjoy the most" (Not what do you enjoy. This is "most")

I enjoy gameplay the most. But do spend a heck of alot of time in build and CAS. Basically to make the gameplay for my Sims better. Also browsing the gallery of what other people have created. Which is quite interesting to see people's creativity.

With rotational families. Always starting a new file, love shuffling the Premades & developing their family trees. I often challenge myself to not speed up or overload the queue, in order to watch the story develop.

    Like...

Summer Holiday: yoga teacher, Foxbury alumni, loves her Border collie, BFF roomies & is besties w/main sim. Her parents returned from traveling abroad ready to reclaim their Willow Creek home. Autumn, her sister just graduated from Britechester also moved back in.

Siobhan Fyres: influencer, Foxbury alumni, is besties w/main sim, loves going out & can't wait to move out. Problem is Dad's always in the club when she is. She is a spoiled, entitled Daddy's girl, but it's too weird. Mom's obsessively w/ the dogs in the ever expanding garden, w/ her garden club or wanting more children to avoid the empty nest syndrome.

Eliza Pancakes: OCD, micromanager, wants to be a CEO & is fixated on being just like Nancy Landgraab. She's a devoted mom to her son, loves her hypoallergenic dog & still lives in her grandma's house. Husband Bob, former high school sweetheart always in/out of work & she suspects he's cheating w/ a Caliente. To pay the bills she keeps accumulating, she's selling off family heirlooms.

I enjoy building most with around 50 %, then gameplay with 40% ( mod ftw, otherwise it would be lower) and cas with 10%, last one only because of cc clothes, while building and decorating is easy, the cas has a very unfortunate set up. I miss a favorite category and a copy and paste system for the other wardrobe categories. Right now cas is the most boring aspect of the game to me, I have no fun there and want to finish it very quickly. .

Its sooo challenging for me to choose. Why - Because when I'm building, or in CAS or doing gameplay, I'm having a blast so its my favorite at that time. Each part commands my attention for fun-filled hours.
