Custom Content and Worlds

How do you get custom content? I hadn't really got the chance to play and understand pc sims as I am usually on console. So when my computer broke in 2013 I never got to figure this out. Now I have the hp omen and am interested in finding custom hairs and clothes. Also how do I get sim points to purchase a new world? Don't know about that either.
