Nectar recipes for optimal day drinking

Lately, I've been having a lot of fun with Nectar making. I've taken on sort of a challenge to create an 'Amazing' blend nectar with each harvestable for my day drinking sims. Ideally, I like nectar to give all four moodlets but without the age reversing effects so that was my whole area of focus. The biggest surprise was the dessert nectars with the cocoa pecan being my only amazing blend on the first try and the banana cocoa was a concept that took only minimal tweaking. Anyway, It's been a long time since WA was released so if these have been posted somewhere before and I come to know of it, I'll credit the poster. Otherwise, here are the recipes I had so much fun cooking up. I would also love to see recipes from others, if you want to share :) .

    Thank you for sharing your recipes. My sim will be making nectar one of these days, and I'm having her grow lots and lots of perfect flame fruit and life fruit in preparation for it. You said you didn't want the age reversing effect, but you have life fruit in those recipes. Does they somehow not give them an extra day when they drink them?

    @Satanu_Reeves

    While I enjoy Nectar making I apologize as I don't have any recipes to share as I cannot remember the best ones I have made but I wanted to thank you for your observations as your info is now copied/paste and tucked away to try later :)

    Hi @IreneSwift , A nectar needs to be at least %50 Life fruit for it to have age reversing effects. With less than that, we just get the moodlet. If you read the article about nectar making on the wiki, it'll mislead you first into thinking you need %50 LF to gain any benefit from it but then later in the article it's explained that you can get the buff with less than %50 LF without it's age reversing. 3FF and 1 LF are the minimum amounts needed for the nectar to have all moodlets. Have fun with your nectar making sim :)

    @SPARKY1922 You're quite welcome. That's okay, WA came out a long time ago. I do hope some people have their sims dust off the old nectar making machines. Maybe we'll see some new recipes.

    It's been a while since my sims made nectar but it is something I enjoy when my sims are not too busy raising families. I found these recipes when I installed Bohemian Garden because I wasn't sure what to do with the new fruit and nuts.

    I just hunted high and low for the recipes I use most often. I long ago copied them to a text document but, other than remembering I found them on the forum, could not remember who compiled them.
  • Satanu_ReevesSatanu_Reeves Posts: 402 Member
    @Mikezumi Those recipes are 'amazing' :) Thank you for searching for them and sharing. Posts like those are very useful for giving clues about what fruits work well with each other. I thought about using the mod listed in your first link because my sim is often enough wrong in his predictions of a good fruit combo. It makes me wonder if he was also wrong about his predictions of fruit combos he said would never work.

    Do you use the MultiTab 6000? It's probably the reason my sims have 'hobby' skills since they can just listen to skill tabcasts while doing other things. Nectar making and Photography seem to level particularly fast with this device. Might save some time but I can see how obtaining the rare fruits and maintaining a garden not only for food but also nectar making grapes could take time away from the family.

    One other note, in the first link that Mikezumi listed, there's a recipe for an amazing plasma nectar in the comments section. Something I didn't even bother with because I don't play vampires. 7 life fruit, 2 plasma, 1 peach - By commenter Alyssa. Everything I've read about vampires and plasma nectar states that they are immune to the 'Warm Fuzzies' from flame fruit so there is no point in adding it and it takes just one plasma fruit in a nectar to restore their thirst. So this is well formulated. This will have age reversing effects because it's at least %50 life fruit. Though that's rather fitting for a vampire.
  • MikezumiMikezumi Posts: 49,697 Member
    @Satanu_Reeves I do use the multi tab but I never bother with the nectar making skill since it is so fast to gain without it.

    On the odd occasion I play vampires, I find the plasma fruit recipes very useful because they fill the thirst bar. I rarely make nectar with life fruit because my sims need to die in a timely manner :D
  • Satanu_ReevesSatanu_Reeves Posts: 402 Member
    I added a link to the wiki in the first paragraph that clarifies what I was saying about about all moodlets but without age reversing. Apparently it's actually six life fruit that is required for age reversing, not five like I said earlier. Or it's wrong like this wiki sometimes is :D in any case I can confirm that one life fruit in nectar gives the 'Full of Life ' moodlet but doesn't reverse age.

    @Mikezumi That's good to know that it's fast leveling anyway. I've never leveled it without the tabcast. I was thinking of starting a midnight sun challenge where nobody can use tech and I was worried about not having the tabcast for this skill. I'm going to experiment with a 3 moodlet, thirst refilling nectar without age reversing. If I can find one that works, I'll post it here :)

    @Satanu_Reeves I will check back with this thread if you learn more. My focus on nectar making was always on the quality and not the moodlets provided because my sims are never short of good moodlets because of the way I play. I only made "amazing" nectar using perfect produce and mostly kept it in the basement to increase in value for the LTW that needs nectar worth a certain value to complete.

    Thanks again for posting those links @Mikezumi ! That plasma recipe in the comments section was a clue. I also found a thread on carls guide that had a 'great' recipe with limes. Turns out, Plasma fruit works well with tree fruits :) Just took a little tweaking. I've updated the list with my recipe.

    Added another vampire nectar. Well, I think that's it for me tonight...

    What a really useful thread you started @Satanu_Reeves :)

    I had no idea after all these years of playing that my sims could gain hobby skills via the multi tab so I will dedo look into that. I usually send my sims to France 2-3 times to learn nectar making while other sims play the tomb adventures. Thanks for posting the vampire recipes as I do play vampires fairly often.

    @Mikezumi

    Thanks for posting those further links to more recipes. I have saved those as well now as one of these days I will get around to my farm/pet deciated world which of course Include a massive nectary as well so I can dedicate some time to this particular play style. I wish my sims could live in EA,s France as it would be perfect for my needs and while I know my sims can stay a lengthy time on the final visa I worry that wanting to play horses there might glitch my game.

    I am feeling the urge to try nectar making again thanks to your thread, @Satanu_Reeves :) A while back I downloaded a mod to change the glasses which also gives different colours to the nectar depending on the ingredients and want to try that as well!

    I decided to try an idea I couldn't make work with the 3ff 1lf nectar and now I'm able to add another vampire nectar to the list. Calling this one Pink Lemonade.

    @SPARKY1922 Enjoy :) I may have to try a vampire for the first time myself.

    @Mikezumi I sure hope you have fun if you do and thanks for the mod recommendation. This one I'm installing for sure, the nectar glasses always looked so silly :D

    Added another vampire nectar - Bridgeport Red.

    @Satanu_Reeves

    My S3 vampires are so much better since I added a few mods, for example my vampires never ask for a drink anymore they just take what they want when they want it without silly objections and the other mod mesmerises other sims almost instantly so that if my vampire/s are pestered by an annoying sim/s they can force those sims into a variety of humiliating actions in public infront of other sims which causes a lot of hilarity in my game (in my opinion anyway-)

    this is the first vampire I was testing with the new mesmerising mod but it gives you an idea :)

    Thank you @starguru

    I have also copied and paste your recipes. I am suddenly wishing I had my own personal mixologist lol :)

    @starguru Wow, very nice. Thank you for sharing here. You're better at names than I am. May I add these to my list above, with credit to you? One thing I wanted to note, the point of Bridgeport Red was to make a vampire nectar that's ingredients could be grown by an urban vampire in a dwelling where tree fruit isn't a practical harvest and you've posted two more recipes suitable for such a vampire - Bloodberry and Sanguine Grapes. Urban vampires with balcony gardens rejoice :smile:

    @SPARKY1922 Thanks for the mod recommendation. One of my favorite games on PC is Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines and one of my favorite things to do is hunt for blood in back alleys and restrooms. With the lighthearted approach to supernaturals in the Sims 3, I was wondering if it would take a mod to hunt :)

  • SPARKY1922SPARKY1922 Posts: 5,965 Member
    @Satanu_Reeves

    Without mods Vampires will hunt just click the floor in a bar or other lot where sims are and the they will start but if I remember rightly they had to ask for a drink which can be refused or have to be good friends with whoever the vamp is asking which to drink from which to me is just ridiculous.

    This is the mod for Vampire Killer Attack Interaction which I forgot to mention has a kill function too if required and drink without request so my vamps are vamps now-)

    https://modthesims.info/d/441069/vampire-killer-attack-interaction-version-3.html

    the second mod is More Vampire Powers V2.0 and your sim needs to have the genius trait for this mod to work and the control of the other sims which lasts for around 4 hours in which time you can make them do anything then they seem to forget-) great for my bachelor vamps :)

    https://modthesims.info/d/489366/more-vampire-powers-v2-0.html

    There are newer mods out there but i have not tried them personally as both these mods work on a 1.69 digital game and my 1.67 disc game fine so I prefer to stick with what I know works. Let me know your thoughts if you give vamps a go :)

    @starguru Thank you. I've added your recipes to my list too.

    My sim, Annie, just returned from her first trip to France. She's planted the French grapes she harvested there, and as soon as she gets her first harvest from them, she'll dispose of them and plant multiple plants of each kind with the excellent or outstanding ones she gets from the first planting. She has the gatherer trait, so it only takes 2 plantings to get all of her garden produce up to perfect.

    I've now built her a nectar cellar and moved all of the perfect fruits she doesn't need for cooking to a storage chest down there. Once her garden is done producing in the fall, she'll start making nectar. I'm looking forward to trying out all of your recipes.
