WELCOME to all new challengers and THANK YOU to veteran challengers continuing with a new teen this year!

I'm posting this in advance to allow time for challengers to create Sims and possibly develop backstories for them, if desired.

Have you ever admired those who start a New Year doing a one photo per day challenge, for example on DeviantArt? I had an idea pop into my head on New Years Eve 2020 for a challenge similar to those, only using TS4 screenshots. I put together something I hoped would work and called it the One Month One World One Year Challenge. I intended to post one screenshot of my Sim's progress during a gaming session per real life day with a short text summary and started on January 1, 2021.

Others joined me and a few had some very welcomed suggestions for improvements, which are continued welcome this year. The challenge blossomed to include stories of our challenge Sim's journey through life. This wasn't my original intention for the challenge, but I welcomed the addition and have loved every minute of it! It's helped us to get to know our Sims better than we might've not otherwise. Another BIG side benefit for me is the friends I've made along the way.

For this year's challenge, I won't be joining with my own Sim. However, I will be active in this thread to answer any questions challengers may have and update the main post as needed. I'll also read and comment on your challenge posts. Good luck everyone and remember, the main goal here is to have fun!

Rules/Guidelines:

• One screenshot post per real life day in this thread with a short text summary.
• One world per real life month - See monthly schedule of worlds in spoiler below. Optional: May change schedule of worlds to reflect your preferences.
• Your challenge Sim MUST be a teen to officially begin this challenge and post in the thread.
• After three real life months have passed, your Sim will age up to young adult for four months, adult for four months and finally, age up to an elder for December. Timeline posted in spoiler below. Optional: How long your Sim stays in each life stage, teen-elder, is at your own discretion. However, they are required to be at minimum a young adult to attend Uni in Britechester. *Note: If you own the High School Years EP, your Sims may be offered early graduation. If they take the offer, your teen is allowed to apply, enroll, and attend university or join full-time adult careers.
• Begin Rags to Riches style on an empty lot with 0 simoleans.
• Aging off Optional: May use long lifespan.
• All unplayed residential worlds are off limits for any kind of travel. Exception: Newcrest may be designated a 'neutral' world to place venues for your Sim to use regardless of their current world residence. Optional: Newcrest may be used to replace a pack you don't own instead.
• Sims may take a vacation to any of the designated vacations worlds. Rental lots in unplayed residential worlds are off limits.
• Aspirations released with a world must be fulfilled first. May choose a base game or other pack aspiration not in the challenge to complete afterward.
• Willow Creek, Oasis Springs, Newcrest and Magnolia Promenade may be used in substitution for worlds listed in the challenge for packs you may not own. In that event, choose one or two base game or other packs aspirations not in the challenge to complete per world.
• Your Sim may marry and/or have children. Aging up children is at your own discretion.
• High School attendance is not required. May use cheats to fulfill daily/promotional task requirements. *Exception: Applicable only if you do not own the High School Years EP or if you do own it, but have elected not to have your Sim live in Copperdale and do the aspirations associated with the EP in your challenge.
• The beginning of each new month/world must start Rags to Riches style. Optional: Your Sim may keep personal possessions, sell the rest and bulldoze the house. They may use simoleans from this sale and accumulated household funds to build or download a house from the Gallery.
• If your challenge Sim dies, it's game over. Optional: You may bring them back to life and continue or use another existing Sim in the household to complete the challenge.
• Occult states and Celebrity statuses must be removed when progressing to the next month/world. Optional: May keep acquired lifestates/statuses. *Note: Vampires can't get a suntan, which is a Beach Life aspiration task.
• If a new world is released with a new pack at any time during 2023, you have the option to swap the new world with another prior released world.
• Give yourself a break and don't stress over days missed due to internet outages, vacations/holidays, real life work/responsibilities or sickness.
• Extra story screenshots may be posted in the thread under a spoiler in addition to your daily post pic and short text summary. Strongly suggest a maximum of 20-25 screenshots per post.
• May use satisfaction points to buy rewards. Exception: Money tree seeds are disallowed.
• Lottery tickets are disallowed for purchase.
• Beginning season, length of days and moon phases are your choice.
• May turn off or cheat away/change all Eco Lifestyle features applied to worlds. Exception: Must be turned on while living in Evergreen Harbor.
• May participate in all default Holidays, modify, delete and/or add your own.
• May include a link to your preferred Blog site with additional story text/screenshots, in addition to your Daily Post Pic/Text Summary.
• Mod friendly challenge! However, please use discretion when using them. Using a mod to fulfill an aspiration is disallowed. Exception: May be used to correct bugs and/or glitches.

I have included the tray files and the mods/cc used. Extract the file. Put the files not listed in the Mods folder in Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/Tray folder. You can rename the Mods folder in the .rar to something like Dante Morningstar and drop it in Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/Mods folder. Or you can move over the files however you like. If you love collecting custom content, there might be duplicates in there. Add the Mods/cc from the extracted folder however you like. The features, game mods and hair folders will get your Dante Morningstar to look how he is supposed to look. The clothing you can add or remove at your own discretion. Wings not included. So excited to start this with everyone! Here's my 2023 Challenge Sim!

Lot: 2-4-1 Wakabamori

Backstory:

Amelia has always looked up to her great-grandmother, Nia Whitmore, but always wanted to accomplish something of her own. She's stubborn, bright, and curious, which can be good or bad depending on the situation, but she's determined to make as much of herself as her great-grandmother did, as Nia started a legacy that became very successful very quickly. She's not exactly a romantic, but surely there's someone out there whose calm nature will be the perfect opposite to her, and exploring the world will be a lot of fun.

Her parents, Diane and Hephaestus, are both worried about her, but also proud of her for being so independent so early on.

Backstory

Riley had a rough childhood, Riley and his parents never saw eye to eye. He couldn't wait to turn into a teen where he is capable of taking care of himself, like cooking his own meals, and going out making simoleons. Riley just started his teenage years, he decided to move out and be independent. He didn't care if it meant living off the land with the clothes on his back. He moved to Mt. Komorebi, he figured living by mountains will be nice and peaceful. He cant wait to meet the locals and see what kind of things they have to offer.

Another guy for the challenge next year! I like him. If you want to blog your try at the challenge, that's cool. All you would need to do is pick a blog site, for example; Wordpress, Weebly, etc. Set up your blog and write your posts. After that, post a link to your blog posts here in the thread along with your daily post pic. I'll also post a link to your blog in the main post once you've set it up. As for how to set up your blog, that's totally up to you. I'm not really one to ask how to do that. However, there is a very informative thread on the Sims 4 Challenges, Stories and Legacies board with a wealth of information on blogging that might be helpful. I know it helped me when I set-up my Wordpress years ago. Here's a link:

I don't think that'll be a problem. I'd suggest maybe putting a note in her Gallery description about the skills. It's pretty easy to remove traits, even without mods, if anyone wants her fresh from scratch.

Meet ELFIE JINGLE



Backstory:

Elfie is a teen elf who has lived his whole life at the North Pole. He is a cheerful elf, as most elves are, and has a bit of a childish streak, which got him assigned to the Toy-Testing Team. Yes, this was the life because Elfie just loved to play and play and play...um...test all the toys. Well, the testing part didn't go too well, and Elfie's quota was down one day...really down. An elder elf, named Grumpy, spoke to Elfie and told him that Elfie had to concentrate more on his work, and not be so playful all the time. Not be playful? How could he not? To help Elfie be more productive, Grumpy sent Elfie to...gulp...elf detention! No! How could this have happened?



But maybe it was destiny that Elfie had been sent there because while he was there, he heard some gossip from his friend Decker, about some sims in the Simworld. These sims had lost the Winterfest spirit, and some were even downright angry and mean (even worse than that angry elf, Grumpy). From what Decker had told him, the naughty list was getting longer everyday with more and more names being added. And, according to his other friend, Jangles, it was getting worse. This ho-humness was starting to affect nearby towns. Elfie's other friend, Snowflake, had overhead the conversation and whispered that even Father Winter was getting worried and had refused to eat some sugar cookies this morning! Oh my gumdrops! This was terrible! They had to do something!



And so, after elf detention, Elfie and his friends went to the reindeer barns. They decided that one of them had to help! But who? They decided to draw candy canes from a bag, and having drawn the smallest candy cane, (which he promptly ate), Elfie was chosen to go.



Elfie had a year to visit all the worlds and try to raise everyone's Winterfest spirit. He knew he could do it, for if he didn't, it could mean the end of Winterfest as we knew it. So, with his elf friends cheering him on, Elfie headed to the magic portal and was whisked off to his first destination, Mt. Komorebi. Whoosh!



Notes:

I wanted to do something different this year. This is really the only story that I will write, as I will be trying to stick to the 1 photo per day with a few notes, and just do the challenge. I am not sure how long I will be able to do this, as I am waiting for my Immigration Travel Papers for Canada, so that I can look after my Dad there. So, I am just going to go with the flow and see how far I can get with this.

I had actually made Elfie for another short challenge, but liked him so much, I decided to use him for this challenge. He starts with no skills, no simoelons and no friends.

Two of the three elf friends, I got from the gallery, and the third I created. Just changed the hair, names, clothing and aged them down to teens.
