Dog Is Afraid of Something...

I don't know if it's a bug or if there's something that I am not understanding, but I have a dog who has the Loyal, Friendly & Friendly traits. He keeps showing as "uncomfortable." When I ask the dog what's wrong, a pop-up comes up saying that he's afraid of something and that he needs time to calm down. Well, sim days go by and he's still afraid of something. He is like this no matter where he is... the home lot, a different lot and even Granite Falls. I don't know what to do. I have cleared the cache. I have repaired the game.

Anyone else having this issue?

Same here I tried creating a different family with a new dog and it didnt do it however first dog I created was doing this also. I know mine was fine before I got it spayed ever since then its always uncomfortable

I have this same issue and it's not the afraid of an item thingy, nothing makes it go away, when it's an item it will say what it is on your message wall.

Was your dog sprayed by a skunk or did you go on an adventure with him ?

I think there's some kind of bug here that it doesn't go away but I'm unsure

No, my dog wasn’t sprayed by a skunk and I haven’t gone on an adventure with him. I’m thinking it’s a bug of some sort, because I can’t pin-point what he’s afraid of.

The same thing has happened to my dog too. I took her to the vet and she is constantly uncomfortable and scared of something too. I can’t seem to calm her down. I noticed that whenever I ask her what’s wrong a little think bubble shows what seems to be similar to the cone of shame. Initially I thought she may be scared of going to the vets.

Yes!! Ever since I took my dog to get a prevention shot, he has been afraid of something but I don’t know what. The thought bubble is either a lampshade over someone’s head or it’s the cone of shame.

I did, yep. Ever since then he's been 'afraid' of something and I believe the thought bubble with the "lampshade over someone's head," is actually the cone of shame lol.

This happened to me too! My cat got sick, so I went to the veterinarian and saw that there was a check-up option. I gave it a shot and realised that there was an innoculation option available, so I brought my dog to the vet as well and gave him a check-up, and the same shot.

They've both been perpetually scared ever since. It's really bummed me out, the animals are so expressive that I genuinely feel bad for them when they're moping and whining all over the place.

I have tried resetting the dog but it didn't fix the issue. Is there any other cheat to disable negative moodlets? Even though they're not visible on pets, I bet the issue is being caused by a hidden uncomfortable moodlet.

You gave me an idea, so I gave it a shot, and I did find a workable solution. I posted it in the answer HQ but I can copy-paste it here.

To get rid of the moodlet (permanently, until the next time you trigger the bug again) follow these steps.

1. Enable testing cheats by opening the console (Control+Shift+C and typing in testingcheats on)
2. Get the SimID by the pet affected by the bug by typing in the command sims.get_sim_id_by_name FirstNameofPet LastNameofPet
3. Write down the sim ID written in the console, it'll be a 19 character long string
4. Remove all moodlets from your pet by typing in sims.remove_all_buffs SimID, e.g. sims.remove_all_buffs 1052442116385935975

What you can do is open up notepad or something in a small window above the game and then type down the SimID there, provided you play in windowed full-screen or windowed mode, and not actual full-screen. You can then copy-paste (Control-C, Control V) the SimID once into the console.

This will clear all the moodlets from your pet and they'll stop whining. Hopefully they'll fix this soon though.

Both my cat and dog have this. My dog did both, skunk and adventure, but my cat did neither. However the cat was sitting on the roomba so I turned it on. Cat has been afraid ever since.
