  • I regard the Sims 4 as a success and not as a failure. My reasons are: 1. Everything points in the direction that the sales numbers are very high: EA has prolonged the life of the game, EA still release a lot each year and EA seems very satisfied with the game. 2. I agree though that EA has obtained this success by…
  • I agree and I just don’t understand why anybody would think that we could want to change the game into a shooter or a violent war game!? This game is too soft in the sense that it is too easy and happy. Since TS1 every new Sims game has just gone even further in that direction and I really don’t believe that anybody really…
  • I am sure that EA did that too. But in a company like EA almost the only costs that matter are all the wages to the huge number of employees (about 9300 worldwide) even though the equipment and all maintenance of the many nice buildings cost a little too. But EA hasn’t used any money on the Danish forum in the last 2.5…

  • Of course there is a tiny cost of a few dollars a year. But this isn’t something that matters to a huge company like EA. There is a huge difference in what it costs for one of us to buy a released pack sometimes or for one of us to pay for something like Netflix and what an EA employee gets in salaries or wages. EA will…

  • Having the site up hasn’t really cost EA anything in the last couple of years because our Danish forum has been without maintenance and without a moderator since SimGuruTomas left about 2.5 years ago. Agreed. But the only expense that matters is the wages to paid moderators who moderate and maintain the forum. We now have…

  • I still remember all the panic among the gurus (then called “maxoids” instead) in the old Sims 2 forum when the ESRB considered to change the rating from T to M just because EA had added a cheat code that could remove the blur in the bathroom! They even threatened all the forum members with a ban if they wrote anything…
  • There is a thing that I think that EA has missed in its considerations: 1. Many young simmers often visit the forums. But only for reading about the game and become inspired. 2. Young simmers often write their first message in a forum when they need help and other simmers usually help them if they can and the problems are…

  • I have to disagree just a little: 1. Game forums exist for a lot of games and have done so in many years. Earlier they were the place where gamers could give feedback and tell the developers what they wanted in the game. But now most games are multiplayer games and the forums for them are mostly used to get friends and…

  • EA is going new ways and wants to turn all its games into live services. EA also wants to expand EA Access even more. Sims 4 is a problem because it isn’t a real live service. But EA wants all its games to become online multiplayer live services. Therefore EA also already has even two such Sims games for mobile devices. We…
  • You answered a two years old message and I haven’t played Sims 4 since then. I don’t disagree with your comments and Sims 4 is not really a bad game. But I played Sims 2 a lot and later also Sims 3 for some time. For story telling Sims 2 is clearly the best Sims game yet because we could control all the families in the…
  • @Mullewap78 It is funny because I got instead offended because you seem to think that Danes and Danish are an inferior people with an inferior language which easily could be changed to English. But this is unlikely to happen. I agree though that Danes are a people who have less respect for their own language than almost…
  • I see it as a continuation of the fact that since september 2017 we can’t get support in Danish anymore. The Danish support site on https://help.ea.com/dk/contact-us/ tells us this and that we instead will be transferred to a support site in English. If it was about the sales numbers then I don’t think that EA would…
  • @Mullewap78 I am sorry that you didn’t feel welcome in the Danish forum and I have been looking at your posts there trying to understand why. It seems that you were mostly interested in discussing mods and how to make mods and I agree that this hasn’t been what most Danish simmers were interested in. My own main interests…
  • The forums in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Czechia will all be closed later this month. I have looked into all those forums. But the Danish Sims forum has new messages every day while the other forums seem to have much less messages. Therefore the Danish forum IMO shouldn’t be closed even if the other forums are…
  • I feel even more sorry for those in China because China has a much bigger population of 1.4 billion people. This is more than 4 times as many people as the population in the US and almost twice as many people as the whole population in Europe. So losing all the simmers in China is very serious for EA. There are more…
  • @Writin_Reg I have considered it a little more and actually I could imagine that the problem with the pregnancy update maybe was that it made it possible to get male sims visible pregnant too in same sex relationships. This could maybe have been the thing that those countries hated so much that they maybe banned the…
  • I found the same earlier on https://www.pinknews.co.uk/2018/06/26/the-sims-gaming-ban-same-sex-relationships-lgbt/ But I miss the documentation. The site says that the same is happening for TS4. But although it has been true all the time that this was the reason why TS4 became an adult-only game in Russia there don’t seem…
  • You aren’t the only one who got such a feeling. But to close the game down for no apparent reason in some reasons would just cost EA money - and EA cares a lot about money. So that isn’t something that EA would do. Just the sizes and the amount of recent updates show that the Sims Freeplay still is very profitable for EA.…
  • I can’t judge that for two reasons: 1. I haven’t played Sims 3 and Sims 4 for about 3 years. Not because they are bad games though. But because I likely only would play them one to two days after each new GP or EP anyway and the packs are way too expensive for that. 2. I haven’t had a pregnant sim yet in the Sims Freeplay…
  • As I wrote I think that the problem was the pregnancy update where sims now can become visibly pregnant. But the countries didn’t ban the whole game. Most likely they only banned this update which they likely didn’t like at all. But then EA got a problem because this would of course force EA to make all future updates work…
  • I won’t start that discussion again here. But this just once more indicates that EA is planning to have at the same time two different big (and very different) Sims games for the PC too just like EA already has for mobile devices because otherwise EA wouldn’t let TS4 live that long. But it has no purpose to start guessing…
  • I don’t believe that EA really is the cause for the Sims Freeplay stopping in those countries. Much more likely the reason is that the pregnancy update has caused those Muslim countries to ban the game or at least to make it into an adult-only game. But I am only guessing here though because although those countries…
  • Why don’t any of you just ask Grant on twitter? You only have to find the tweet where he says that he expect to make packs for TS4 for years and then answer: “Does this mean that TS5 won’t be released in the next couple of years?” But you are all so scared for his answer that you don’t dare to write that question. ;) I…
  • I am just not a dreaming simmer who (as simmers always have) just hope the the current basegame still will get more packs forever. It hasn’t ever become true and simmers have always become disappointed or angry when they have realized this (3 times now and soon for the fourth time too). The gurus went on twitter early in…
  • You forget the following: In 2009-2014 EA had two groups of developers: 1. A group of devs who made packs and store content for TS3. 2. Another group of devs who we didn’t really know anything about because they just first developed a new game engine for TS4 and then made experiments that finally resulted in the release of…
  • So now you just want to “win” this discussion by misquoting and claiming that it was you who said what I said?? I am not interested in “winning” and you know very well that it was me and not you who said that Blind Squirrel Games was hired to port the game to consoles because BSG had developed a new technic to port PC…
  • No, it was Blind Squirrel Games who developed a new technic to port PC games to consoles. This got EA interested and at a very late state of TS4’s development EA therefore negotiated with BSG to let them port TS4 to consoles: https://twitter.com/blind_squirrel_/status/890266435796295680?s=21 No, I don’t have the app sales…
