  • What?? I read a post in another thread that alluded to this and I had to investigate. That is concerning that we have only seen high-density buildings so far. I want an individual home.
  • @Lucy_Henley Neat! It's always fun when unique interactions get unlocked through careers, specific traits, etc. It keeps each sim unique.
  • @Ninoosim I totally hear you. I can swear that one time I had this sim who was getting a bit overweight. Ok, no big deal. I sent her to the gym and she ran on the treadmill for a few hours. By the time she finished, she was perfectly slimmed down. That was too fast!
  • I may be biased because I like to run a vanilla game. I always did. I typically avoid mods and I have a limited amount of custom content. I remember during my early teen years, I went crazy and downloaded everything! It took nearly an hour and a half for my TS3 game to load and some of the mods caused mild corruption in my…
  • Never. I used to dig in my back yard in hope I would find a treasure of some sort of relic. I only found a bunch of rocks. Never have I ever driven on a steep hill.
  • I always considered Belladonna Cove to have a warmer climate, so I imagined the map to be mid-atlantic to Southeast US. One or more of the lots have palm trees and this seems to enforce my theory. The grass seems lighter and more like a warm climate.
  • @Sorak4 This is what I was referring to earlier. Look at the amount of animations that went into repairs. Also look at that image of yours from TS2. Even the back of the computer shows a bunch of real life ports and exhaust fans.
  • @lisamwitt Yeah. I have been noticing that more and more. You tell your sim to do something and then they start looking directly at you.
  • I've been getting into fictitious families, and I have found Sims 2 to be more challenging compared to the later games, so I like to keep my families small. One family is a couple and another family is a couple plus an elderly mother. I had both families rent an apartment until they can afford a mid-level home. It can…
  • @Waterdragon I hear you on that one. Sometimes I start up TS3 and then within 30 seconds, my fan is seemingly running at full blast. Sigh. I am currently using a mid-range laptop. I can run TS2 and the fan seems much lower when running that game.
  • @TinySpaceFox I love it! I totally did the same thing once I started my career job.
  • Never Never have I ever driven a pickup truck.
  • Can't say I have ever paid too much attention to the moon. Never have I ever moved away for college.
  • Stoves catch on fire too often in The Sims 2. Good thing is the fire department shows up fast and puts it out. A few years back, in TS3, I started the game and it said something about a sim death - although it was not authentic. None of the other sims were mourning and he still showed up in the household portrait. I…
  • I used to almost exclusively play as myself and family: and I mean exact replicas of us. I have gotten away from that somewhat in recent days where I have created fictional people and I even did a short-lived throwback of my teenage years (and my family at that time). I have identified four types of sims you can play. What…
  • I haven't personally been around Simmers since high school. My brother used to play and we used to have so much fun! We came up with crazy things, made our family and friends in the game, and we laughed all the time! My brother came up with unconventional hacks such as placing bathroom stalls in his house and playing music…
  • Sims 2 was definitely ahead of its time. If I could pick one, it would be the animations. If you pay close attention to the way your sims interact with each other or another object, it is far more detailed. They pull objects out of cabinets and pull the TV away from the wall to repair. The devs must have spent a lot of…
  • @rjssim I always had a similar plan for TS5. I have seen people say whether they want open or closed world and I figured we could have an open world (of reasonable size) and have the ability to seamlessly travel to other worlds so we can expand the places to visit. I think this is fair to both sides.
  • @Oldeseadogge Glad your computer is serving you well. Sounds like there is a lot of history and memories in your game files. I may need to revisit some of my original sims files - for old times sake. Remember to keep backups.
  • Speaking of a neighborhood game file, I can keep those indefinitely. I play Sims 2 with rotational play, so I create multiple families and do so over time, so that can keep me busy for years. I keep expanding into new houses and lots. Since I play with aging off, rotational play is how I keep things with variety. I have…
  • @JinxIndigo Agreed with the adult humor. There had been a handful of debates about this on the forums. The Sims was originally intended for Teen and Up. I had noticed the game be dumbed down to accommodate children. I do not believe this game is intended for children; My Sims is if anyone remembers that series. Of course,…
  • @Meliathena This is the point I was alluding to in my post. Old style sandbox games always had some kind of Custom Scenario or World Builder. You could start from scratch and it was generally simple to do so; we did not need external downloads, mods, or overly complicated software. The tool in TS3 is complicated. I was…
  • Sims 1: Never played, but hope to some day. Sims 2 Pro: For an old game, there is SO much packed into this game. Someone did a series on youtube about hidden features in this game. Build mode is superior! Con: This game can be rather harsh. Aspiration decays quick, homework can be tough, cannot visit friends' homes. Sims 3…
  • I think there will be a lot of unintended consequences of a major online aspect. Especially if it involves synchronous play. There will be a lot of maintenance and logistics on the back end to maintain the online play. You will need a steady online connection and I am fearful that the devs will become so involved in the…
  • @AlphaFFrog Well done on the North American Suburban. Your home is well decorated and this is something I could expect to see in any North American suburb.
  • I may have had a unique experience. I took a break from playing and when I came back, origin was fully phased out and EA app was in place. I started the game and saw these popups about origin being discontinued. I have a new computer that never had The Sims installed so I ran a clean install and everything seemed to work…
  • This definitely is a valid argument. I agree that the checklist items can be arbitrary and repetitive. I didn't like that gameplay either, but for different reasons for me. I tried open workplace careers and I found it to be more work for me than the sim. It became mundane and I found I wasn't getting anything out of it.…
  • Here are my thoughts. We need an open world. Build tools should allow for more freedom, similar to Sims 3. I find sims 4 too restrictive and does not allow for advanced builds.
  • I primarily made my decision based on excluding radio music. My favorite is Sims 2 as I enjoy the style of the music and it definitely is the more creative soundtrack. Very funky and inspiring and has an exotic sound. It definitely fit the game. I think TS1 may be a second, although I only heard it through audio playback;…
