  • I can't figure out how to post this on the Issues discussion but I'm hoping someone can help me. I just got a new computer (with much better specs) for Christmas, so obviously I wanted to transfer my sims save over to the new computer... however I have been having major issues in doing so.

First I installed the game (and all the expansions/game packs I own) then I moved the "saves" folder into the sims 4 folder and deleted the new "saves" folder. I booted up the game and everything was fine until the family I loaded to play just about loaded (the sound played.. you know) and then my computer crashed. I repaired the game, tried again, and the game loaded poorly this time... screen cutting in and out, slowly, animation poor, this time I couldn't even get to the main menu. I shutdown my computer because nothing was responding, booted up, tried to repair it again, this time deleting that saves folder, repairing, and it booted up poorly again.... I knew that unfortunately something had...

been corrupted. I uninstalled the game and reinstalled... did the same thing I did the first time around and the same thing happened, my computer crashed, sims stopped working. ect.

I uninstalled and reinstalled a third time. This time I copied the entire sims 4 folder over to my new computer thinking i missed something (which I know now that I did, I didn't copy the "tray" folder, but I don't think that explains why the entire sims 4 got completely corrupted and still wouldn't work after I deleted the old save files I was trying to copy over and repairing). Well the SAME thing happened. I tried repairing before I even started the game this time.... still nothing.

4th time I uninstalled and reinstalled. This time I ONLY copied over the "saves" folder and the "tray " folder and I copied it over before I reinstalled the Sims 4 program files. It booted up great, my menu loaded, I was able to click on my family, It loaded up until the sound that plays before the lot loads and my computer crashed. I really don't know what is wrong and I really don't want to start a new game because I have SO many hours logged on the game I am trying to copy. If someone could please help I would be so grateful.

      Hello
It would be best to post your dxdiag information on this link thread post and explain about your issues.
      http://forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/930798/game-crashes#latest
To gather a DXDIAG on your computer, do this :
Press and hold the Windows key and the letter R on your keyboard
You will see a Run box in the lower-left corner of your screen
Type dxdiag in the text field
      Click OK
Click the Save All Information button, found on the bottom of the DXDIAG report
Then copy and paste the information from where you saved it, to pastebin https://pastebin.com
and post the link to the file into the forums thread.

You will need to break up the pastebin link of your dxdiag info though when you post it on the forums thread by putting h.t.t.p. instead of http, because you are unable to post links because you are a new member.
  • How do I post a new thread???

Plus new members are unable to start new threads even if you could before. This was brought on by last years spambot attacks that took over the forums.

For any New members who what to get their post/point count up, the best thing that I would advise you to do is to find threads that may interest you and join in on them or go to the Off Topic section and join in on some of the word/story games over there. The posts made over in the forum section will go towards your post count whereas the posts made on your wall and the Activity Feed doesn't go towards the total post count. The only thing that you will get if you should make any post over on your wall or Activity Feed will be any Insightfuls, Likes or Awesomes as they will go towards your total points count. Hopefully creating your posts on other threads will also increase your points... :)
