I have a question! I have two sims (and their three kids; two of them have already moved out; I want to start a new family with their third child who is almost an adult).
My sims are almost finished with their careers (and their relationship together is almost 100%): so I want to retire them after that (tomorrow or the day after). Their hobbies are all around 70% so I will leave that alone. I want their third child to be an adult before they retire, so he can be my ‘new’ sim. But I have some questions what happens after retiring!
I want to keep their third child (a male) and then let him fall in love with a girl and then I want to let them live together in my house (and get children etc).
1. If I buy clothes for my female Sims now, if I have a female Sims in the future, can she use those same clothes? Or do you have to buy them again to unlock them? Because I just bought some expensive clothes for both my Sims, and they are going to retire soon.
2. If my two Sims retire, is it possible to have their son as my Sim and then from there on create a new family with a girl he falls in love with?
3. Are there other things I should do before I let them retire? (For instance: I made sure they already have relationship 3 with their kids, otherwise I think it is sad)
4. If I retire them, their child gets all their money etc?
Hello @JopieG
Any clothes that your household bought , can be used by their children after they retire.
With your second question, their son can be your playable sim and you can have a family with him with the girl he calls in love with.
When the sims retire, the money will remain with the household. It may be best to retire one of your sims first, then promote the son into the playable slot, then retire the second sim.
It is a good idea to buy the third slot if you have the simcash
Why can't I access the medical career when I'm level 27?
Hello @Hazonkos
If you go to the career venue and click on the picture there that is above the “ later” message, you should be able to access the career.
I would click on your family portrait and click on your male Sim you want to start a new family with. Click "promote" and he will become an adult and "playable." I'd do this before retiring the parents (only because I've never retired Sims before there was an active sim to take their place). Also, make sure you keep the parents around as long as possible after you retire them. They can mentor hobby skills and earn you heirloom tickets from social events with them!
I don't get retirement in this game. My old man sim doesn't have the option to retire but his son does. I just don't get it.
Hello @cindirella76
His son may have done more career, relationship or/and hobby events than his Dad. The more that a sim does, the earlier they add on the traits, and the sooner they get the option to retire.
Have you checked your sims traits in the menu? From reading in the bugs report forums, my understanding is that your sim doesn't get the option to retire until he has unlocked all his traits.
I have seen some people complaining that they can't retire their sim because not all of their traits have unlocked. It may be worth checking that and if that's what it is reporting it?!?
What can I do with heirlooms. I have more than fit in the case (retired some sims and bought some heirlooms) and it won't let me buy another display case. Do I need to have them out in the home to get the benefit or can I leave them in storage? Can I somehow unlock another case?
I have a room in my house that will not accept a certain stucco wall style. I want to have the two front rooms match. I can give that wall style to any other room in the house but not the (second) one I want. Is there a way to do this?

Hello @BlueWizardRob
The heirlooms don’t need to be on display to get the benefit of them. They can be kept in storage. There are three display cases, and the second and third display cases are unlocked when you have more heirlooms.
Hi, can anyone tell me if it's normal to have to choose a relationship story with your child when they turn into an adult? It does say daughter in the relationship part. Thanks

Hello @Spaceylintz
You do need to choose a relationship story with the child when they become an adult, if you want to do the relationship events with them. It is normal and happens with each sim and their son/daughter.

Yes, I've checked it. He still has one to unlock, but the progress bar to unlock it has been full for many days now without it actually unlocking. At this point I'm pretty sure it's a bug/glitch.
Another question.....it appears that the game is now charging (simoleans & home tickets) to change an existing room. I have gone into the Builder menu, and selected the blue arrows, but it won’t allow me to adjust the size of the room without paying again. Is this a bug? Or do I not remember this occurring in the past? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hello
Other simmers are also posting that this is occurring in their game also, since the release of the patch. It wasnt occurring previously, but it is happening now.
Thank you for confirming my suspicions. I just tested it before updating the game on my iPad, and it certainly shows the change is related to the this update. I will hold off on changes until they work out the bugs. Thanks again!
