Can't save game

I've never had this problem before but my game was acting like someone was ageing up when it wasn't my sims birthday yet. I couldn't save, couldn't take him home. He needed to eat and i couldn't get food where i was. I had to close up the game and now everything i did has to be done all over again

Hey Rose (or anyone else that may be able to help). Sorry I had to highjack this thread, but I'm new to the forums and not allowed to post yet. I had this same problem before and fixed it with the resetSim cheat. Now, when I go to "plan an outfit" in the dresser, I can't save any edits I make to my Sim's clothes. I have tried doing it with the dresser and then with the CAS cheat. Neither worked. Cleared cache. Nope. No mods or anything in the folder. I restarted my computer twice since I started having the bug. I'm at a loss... but the clothes she has on are definitely not flattering. LoL My first Sim ended up dying old & fat with the same clothes she had on as a young adult... short shorts farmer look. ;) Now I'm raising her daughter who has no fashion sense what-so-ever.

Repairing the game may help. To do that, go to games library in Origin, right click on the sims 4 picture and click repair

If the issues remain, try resetting your sims 4 folder and see if that helps. To do that, move your sims 4 folder ( that is in Documents -Electronic Arts - then the sims 4 folder is there ) to the desktop. Then start the game, and a new sims 4 folder will be generated. Exit the game and then copy back the "options.ini" or " options " file and the "saves" , "screenshots" "tray" "custom music " and "mods" folders from the desktop sims 4 folder to the new sims 4 folder, replacing the new generated file/ folders with the old file/folders from the desktop sims 4 folder.

Try evicting your sims household from their home. Then place them back into the original home and see if that helps the issue.
Try also starting a fresh new save game and test to see if the issue occurs there also.

Moving them out didn't work. So I created a new game. She can't change her clothes either. So I have decided to back up my files on my desktop (just in case) and uninstall the game. I'm reinstalling now.

I just remembered that I have the holiday add-on, so I'm installing without it. That might help. I got it for free and never used it anyway, so *shrug* I won't miss it.

The holiday collection may automatically download /reinstall when you are reinstalling the base sims 4 game.

It gave me the option to unclick it. *fingers crossed* Hope it works! I read somewhere else that it shouldn't delete my games completely, but I backed them up just in case. I'm assuming they're saved online?

Uninstalling the sims 4 game shouldn’t delete your save games, but it is always best to make a backup copy of your saves folder, and /or your whole sims 4 folder.
The save game files are not saved online. They are only saved in the Documents -Electronic Arts -sims 4-saves folder on your computer.

Hmm... still didn't work. I'm at a loss... I mean, the good thing is that it doesn't affect the play of the game. And I can create new custom Sims whenever I want. But it's frustrating when Sims age up and have ugly clothes. LoL

Do you have any mods/cc at all?
Is it only affecting one household? Try testing to see if the same thing occurs with other households also in your game.

Yeah it's all households. I don't think I have any mods/cc. The only thing I have downloaded other than the main game was the holiday add-on.

Try resetting your sims 4 folder again, but this time start a new test save game before exiting the game and copying back the "options.ini" or " options " file and the "saves" , "screenshots" "tray" "custom music " and "mods" folders from the desktop sims 4 folder to the new sims 4 folder, replacing the new generated file/ folders with the old file/folders from the desktop sims 4 folder.
Test the issue in the new save game before exiting the game.

I restarted my computer. This time, there was still no "save" available under the menu, however the check mark at the end that previously was not working either worked! :)

I know this is a semi-old post but, I've been having issues saving since in-game it says "Game loading is in progress" But it says that when I'm in-game, meaning everything's loaded, i.e my sims etc. I've tried everything from uninstalling the game & reinstalling it from closing the game down fully. (Both attempts I removed modded materials & expansion packs.) Is there anyway this can be fixed at all?
