Same issue as OP. I don't know much about computers. I don't know anything about graphics cards and chips. So I Googled this problem.

    Here's info on my device:
Brand new HP Pavillion Power Desktop 580-1xx, Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 1700 Eight Core Processor
    Name: Radeon TM RX 550
Chip Type: AMD Radeon Graphics Processor (0x699F)

    Radeon info:
Software: 17.1.1, Crimson ReLive, Radeon RX 550

    Here's what I've tried:
    1. Since I apparantely have a Radeon AMD card I went to this link and tried to follow the directions. https://sims4.crinrict.com/en/2014/09/graphics-cardintel-chip-dual-systems/
But when I right click, this option doesn't pop up. What does pop up is the option to choose AMD Radeon graphics. So I've clicked on that. I don't see the options it tells me to click through, but I added TS4 under games. I get the same error.

    2. I turned off Origin in game. Same error.

    3. I updated the game.

    4. I right clicked and repaired the game. Same error.

I feel like it's possible the game is trying to read from a chip instead of a card, and I don't know how to change that. I tried following this thread https://sims4.crinrict.com/en/2014/09/graphics-cardintel-chip-dual-systems/ but I don't have the "Configure switchable graphics" on the options that show up. I don't even know how to tell if this meets minimum requirements as the minimum requirements just list names of cards and processors. I don't know what that means.

@chesterbigbird or @ChelleJo AMD help Thanks!

If I remember you stated you were getting BSOD? If your card is failing there is not much you can do but replace your laptop given your current laptop's age and issues

You can try playing on low, check off laptop mode in the launcher, play in windowed mode and or lower your game resolution in the launcher. All this will take stress off the laptop. This will not be a fix for BSOD

In game settings, you can change the resolution in game, check off laptop mode. or lower your game settings to low or med rather than ultra ( if your using ultra) you would have to play with the diffrent options and see what might work best for you to where the game might play better until you get a new computer

    Hello @Liziann1
phoebebebe13 means via the options settings in-game. You can tick the laptop mode box there.

@Liziann1 laptop mode on for the sims 4

The sims 3 is complete. It's more video card heavy than the sims 4 at the moment. Pets is the most demanding EP in the game with Seasons, Island paradise and Into The Future not far behind pets. If you add one or more of these eps they may give you issues if your video card is failing. To play the whole sims 3 your probably going to need a new computer but see what happens when you add it

    Hello @SimSweet
Try shutting down your computer completely. Start the computer again, then launch the game and see if that helps.

If the issues still remain, repairing the game may help. To do that, go to games library in Origin, right click on the sims 4 picture and click repair
