@Xraygrl2004 --- I tried to repost your links to show the screenshots, but I can't quite figure it out. I did manage to put your message in quotes, and make one of the links clickable...lol! Sorry, I tried! Someone will be able to do it, though. It will be great to see what your mansion for Simon looks like !
I like all the details and, it looks nice, as a whole @xraygrl2004 !!
It's great that you figured out that there were a few extra things in the links @LadyEmillye --- so I guess I know how to do this. I'll try again another time !
The exterior design of Modern Mansion and the layout of the build looks very nice! @xraygrl2004 The flagpole is a nice touch in the front courtyard, and the flowers in the front area of the build look very pretty! Very nice layout of the interior of the home! The furnishing of the rooms on each of the two levels looks very nice! The design of the home theatre room looks great! Very nice outdoors kitchen, dining, living and pool patio! Sims will enjoy cooking meals on the bbq and eating the food at the angled dining room in the sunshine. They will enjoy sitting relaxing on the sofa poolside.
It is a very nice and very fully featured modern home!

Not certain if we are allowed to say anything here but if we aren't I can delete this bit This is my first challenge so I'm quite excited. I must admit I decided to join in at a weird challenge because this is my first attempt at a modern build. I'm much more comfortable with old European styles. It was actually quite difficult to stop myself from throwing statues and outer decor everywhere like with my Parisian house build lol. Anyway after a lot of research, pictures, guides, drafts and advice this was built. Everyone's builds are so amazing so far and I have been enjoying going through the old contests and seeing some truly awesome stuff! I especially liked the recent museum by @RivendellStar. It is so cool to see how other builders utilise all the unique aspects/tools in the game!
Thanks for all the great feedback, and Thanks to @Cbear13 for the fun challenge! @CaramelLibra29 It's one of the tile skins, I believe from the spa pack
@Nore welcome to the fun world of build challenges, and your first entry is awesome, I love all those curves!
The exterior design of the Modern Mansion and layout of the build looks so very great ! @Nore You have captured the modern theme so very well! The roofing looks so very great! Very nice pool area! The water fountain feature is very nice in the pool. It is a special touch that you have created a rock waterfall near the garage. Very nice roof covered water feature area in the front entrance area to the home. The way that you have done the green upper patio areas looks very nice! Very nice layout and furnishing of the interior of the home! It is such a very detailed, fully featured home!
It is such a very nice and very creatively designed modern home!
Thanks everyone for all the amazing comments! I’m considering renaming my lot to Butterfly Mansion because for some reason whenever I look at it from above (can see an aerial view in the Newest Creations thread) it reminds me of a butterfly haha.
@xraygrl2004 I like your interior colour scheme! It makes the open floor plan feel open and yet each area looks distinct and has its own flair
@Oliana Thank you for that amazing welcome! Although flat roofs are very modern, I just couldn’t make it work haha.
@kilra0 Thank you the fountain was one of my favourites too, it glows at night as well haha.
@lisalittlesimmer Thank you I did try a modern build in a sims 3 contest on Carl’s website once, but it ended up quite a mess haha. You can tell from my showcase thread that it isn’t my go-to style. Although this challenge has quite opened my eyes to how cool and awesome the style can be and how much space there is for creativity even though all the statues and pillars haha.
@coolsim9999999 I like your house! It has this awesome industrial feel to it, that’s very a la mode I feel for a modern tech vibe haha.
@Liziann1 Thank you for your kind words! I feel it took me a while to get comfortable with roofs, but when you do they are an amazing tool in sims 4, especially without my oft-missed CFE haha. I like your house as well, the blue was a bold choice and I feel it worked nicely! (and is my favourite colour haha).
@kimartist Thank you! Yes I feel there are so many amazing builds in all these contests, such a pleasure to just stare at them and explore haha.
Your WIP is looking so very nice! @misscbong Very nice layout of the build and design of the exterior of the home! The landscaping design of the front courtyard looks so very creative! The flowers and plants are pretty on the edges of the home. Very outdoors living sofas seats sitting area,
The build is looking great!
This is so much fun! I hope you don't mind me sharing my progress. I was shocked when I looked at the deadline yesterday, I thought I had lots more time, so I might not get it done in time
Your WIP is looking very nice! @lisalittlesimmer Very nice layout of the build! The way that you have done the windows looks very nice. The water fountain features in the front courtyard area , and the flowers and plants in the nooks very pretty! Very nice colour scheme of the exterior walls. Very nice design of the kitchen, bar and dining area! The layout looks great! It is nice that there are double sinks and stoves. The fruit bowl and flowers are nice touches on the curved counters and dining table . Very nice dining table area! It is nice that there are a number of chairs on the edges of table. Sims will enjoy dining together at the table listening to radio music.
The build is looking great!
@Nore Oh I love the curved rooflines, but I am envious of the curved outdoor areas and fences, especially how it curves around the pool... the roof tool is a pet hate of mine I am terrible with it, but I am even worse with curved fences and garden areas! You have inspired me to try and implement them more into my builds because I always love how it looks.
@misscbong Your WIP is stunning, I hope you will share with us the finished build, even if it's after the challenge date as it already looks spectacular.
@lisalittlesimmer Dream kitchen alert! Oh and I love that table and chairs combo for a dining set.
@lisalittlesimmer Your build is coming along nicely! I especially like the dining and kitchen area
@Oliana Thank you To be honest, I felt I chose curved roofs because I couldn't figure out how to make flat ones work haha. I used to also shy away from roofs and focused only on CFE back in sims 3. However, without CFE, roofing has quickly become an amazingly important tool to allow for some creative things for me. For instance I never felt I would be able to recreate a music theme build I did in sims 3:
But then I saw this by @BryonyRae and realised that there were so many ways to be creative in sims 4 as well!!:
As for the curved areas, I can definitely understand why you don't like building them haha, they are so frustrating. You would not believe how annoying friezes are with them as they sometimes take the style of a frieze from halfway across the lot and you cannot even delete it. I had to disconnect parts of the house for no reason other than to get the friezes I wanted on the curving sections.
In any case, I'm glad you are inspired haha, I often feel exactly that way after seeing builds on here
Your piano and guitar themed Sims 3 build is so very creative ! @Nore The design of it looks so very great! The piano keys and guitar strings look very great!
@rosemow thank you haha, but I feel it looks almost silly compared to how cool the one by @BryonRae is
I'm not sure if this is allowed but I modified my build slightly. It was driving me crazy that empty walkway in the back tower, and I figured there was nothing I could do about it because of the lack of spiral stairs to get up there, but then I realised I could just build a set of stairs from the floating grass walkways, and so I built a nice little gym up there If this isn't allowed, I'm happy to take it down, just let me know
@Nore your more than welcome to change your build this comp has no judging so as long as the link you want to get the maxis nomination is the one on the entry form by the end date its fine
