@AlphaFen: I'm loving all of your descriptions and Nature's Nook is no exception! This little starter has great potential for future expansion and it's so darn cute! <3 Rec'd!

@tanubanue: Salty Springs Resort Redone looks awesome! Your description was making me chuckle! I, too, hate getting sand where it doesn't belong! Rec-a-roo for you!

@ciane: A houseboat that sleeps SIX?! The Sea dog is a lot bigger than it looks! I really love the colors that you chose - I think the kitchen is my favorite! I've got a thing for those...maybe because I'm such a foodie! Big ole REC!

@MoonandStars83: That meow meow is so cute! It really makes me want one of my own!

@Catdog123: Cobalt Tranquillity is STUNNING! Teach me your ways...I've never been able to build Victorians. This is just BEA-U-TIFUL! I think Theo's bedroom is my favorite one. I like how you've got that old charm about the home. It looks like the family moved in, kept all the original features and just tried to put their own stamp on it with decoration, but you can totally tell it's an older home! I LOVE that! Rec'd rec'd rec'd (well I only did it once, but if I could do it more than once, I would've!)

@Mmdrgntobldrgn: Loving Off the Grid Homestead. I, for one, would love to know how you did the roof! I love how it's been built into a hill - definitely a cute little off the grid place of a hobbit, but I can totally see the Wades living there too if they wanted a simpler life! Rec'd

OMG @Catdog123 I am BLOWN away by Cobalt Tranquility! That is one of the most EPIC, Amazing, Stunning Victorian's I have seen! I love the color pallet used through-out the house, especially the living-room! The greenhouse and alchemy shed is drool worthy. Thank you doesn't seem worthy enough but it is all I have, so thank you! It screams "Made for Me"!!!

And another? Oh my you are really spoiling me!

@Catdog123 ~ Beautiful Victorian I love the Cobalt Tranquility :)

@Mmdrgntobldrgn Really pretty house! It's really interesting how you built it and creative! Love how it blends in and is really 'Off the Grid' I never think to use that statue on home lots but it cracks me up! :)
  • tanubanuetanubanue Posts: 4,116 Member
@Bookworm742 I also didn't know that you could use a houseboat on other lands it brings so many neat possibilities with it! The wooden yard thing cracked me up! :p

I also bulldoze that lot lol I'll have to try the fence it in thing though, lol Thanks for your comments!
  • tanubanuetanubanue Posts: 4,116 Member
@ciane ~ Hmm...Dodger seems to really really like it there. Maybe he'll win her heart over and stay. I don't think Dash would mind a bit!
  • cianeciane Posts: 16,996 Member

@tanubanue lol, No Tell Motel! Love it! And love how you were able to turn that lot into something useful, since I usually just bulldoze it! (Think the most exciting thing I ever did with it was surround it with a fence, lock 8 sims in there, turn on the free will, and see how much trouble they could get into. Was actually pretty entertaining!)

/\ THIS! I so have to try that!

Are there more gifts to be shared?
    You may rely on it

    More?! Are you sure?

@Mmdrgntobldrgn . . .WOW!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE all the gifts and very excited it's off the grid. Missed out on that for TS4 (why laundry ugh). I gotta get up earlier, but wanted to let you know I had seen the gifts. When I have more time, I am definitely going to come back for a closer look at these gifts . .and everyone else's!

@AlphaFen: Oh, another nice starter for Ciane! That's such a pretty studio home. What a great starter for a single Sim who might want to be a bit of a loner. I love the pond and the bridge. A few fish spawners, and a Sim can be self-sufficient. :)

@Tanubanue: Salty Springs Resort is clean and CC free! While I've never had a Sim run a resort (so probably will never get those achievements - I'm just not interested in the headache of running one), I do often plop one into a world and have my Sim(s) visit them. They can be a fun break for a Sim, even when it's on the Sim's homeworld. :) That one looks like it would go great in LP. Hm... you've made several nice lots for LP now, and Ciane made that casino, so maybe it's time to start another LP game again. :) I really love the name "No Tell Motel". What a great name for a seedy motel in the wrong part of town! ;)

@ciane: The Sea Dog is clean and CC free! Which I'm sure you already knew. :) If I didn't know that you always build without CC, I wouldn't believe it, looking at your pictures of this houseboat. You find ways to recolor things so that they look completely different from the original. What ARE those dining chairs? I LOVE your recolouring of them, whatever they are! They look great!

Question: I've noticed that houseboats tend to be small. Is this a requirement? Can a houseboat be made to be, say, 64x64? Or is there some limitation that makes this not very workable? Not that I would make one that big, but I'm just wondering if it's actually possible.

@tanubanue: OMG THOSE KITTENS ARE ADORABLE!:heart::heart: It's absolutely awesome about the colour/tail switch with them. Oh man! I wish there were a way to upload just those cats, but I'm not really sure it is.

@MoonAndStars83: Yay! Hurray! (Wish there were a fireworks emote on the forums) It's awesome that it's finally clean and downloadable! Woohoo! This house will look great in Moonlight Falls; it exactly fits that theme. :) Oh, and that kitten picture is absolutely adorable. But then I've always been an absolute s.uc.ker for kittens. :)

@ciane: Uh... I hadn't actually thought about the library files when making a new The Sims 3 folder. D'oh! Yeah, that would be another thing someone would want to copy back; you wouldn't want to lose all your builds and downloaded builds. (Copying them back is safe since CC won't stick to library builds, but will instead give you the "Some objects could not be loaded and were replaced" message.)

@CatDog123: Oh. Oh my. Oh my goodness. What a BEAUTIFUL build! It's things like this that give me something to wish for in my own building. You make such BEAUTIFUL lots that fit my own playstyle exactly. Yeah, I know you didn't build this for me, but you might as well have! It is absolutely, positively Gorgeous! Hidden Springs is one of my favorite worlds (love all the fairy tale references), so I know I will play this one at some point!

@Mmdrgntobldrgn: You did this WITHOUT CFE? Man... I'm astounded! I love the fountain effect coming out of the troll's mouth - made me laugh! You made your own fountain! :) The stairs going up to the roof don't use any CFE? Wow! I love your use of the Skylight roof pieces! I always love builds that use the various glass roof pieces effectively. The way you have the hill going right up to the front door definitely makes it feel like a hobbit hole. It's amazing how you have the roof coming right out of the ground. This is definitely one build I'm going to use, and probably pick apart at some point to learn from it. :) What's the difference between Lady E's Off Grid Homestead, and Wade Potential Home? They look similar; is the second one a stripped down version of the first, or something? Oh my, about the fire! Yeah, I had that once happen in testing, and after that I made sure to fireproof all fireplaces in uploads to the Exchange! :D
@ciane While normally I would do that, some of the .Sims3packs I have don't show up correctly in the launcher when I reinstall them (i.e., they show up as CC instead of Store content), so I would actually like a freshly downloaded install of my stuff for the inevitable day I have to transfer everything to a new computer. Thank you, though.
This happens to me too, but copying the .ebc files directly (bypassing the reinstall through the launcher of the Sims3packs) SHOULD solve this problem.

That's one of my favorites, too. I love it because of the lacy sleeves. :) It's called Ace of Lace, and it comes with Romanza Ceremony + Attire.

@ciane Sorry I didn't respond earlier was busy today, downloaded rec'd and faved as soon as I saw it. Is that area with the sprinkler system on the roof is that a rooftop garden? That's a really nice detail. I love the colors you used in the boat. Its very nautical, warm and cozy. All of the little details are really nice like the cups hanging above the sink, all of the kitchen clutter, the window seat and those shelves extending the bookshelf. I find the kitchen particularly stylish with the white cabinet doors on darker wood. I like how you didn't go super perfectly symmetrical with some of the furniture choices such as the two different dressers in the bedroom but you tied them together with having the same materials. I love seeing different items being blended together like that but being made to be cohesive. I find that to be really realistic. I love that its not overly modern but with modern touches. A lot of the houseboats I have in my game are ultra modern in design so it will be amazing to have a more traditional looking houseboat. Also as a side note one of my favorite sims is a Merman who has recently got into martial arts as a hobby so this will be a great house for him with the training dummy on the roof. I don't know why I never thought to put a training dummy in a houseboat for him.

@MiaSkywalker I could upload Ezra and the 4 cats and you could always extract them from each other in your game if you like. I cant upload just the cats alone as the kittens need a sim to care for them and they cant go in cas. Or I could upload Ezra with just the kittens too I guess. Let me know if you'd like me to do that. You could always move them to a different house in game.

Oh! I would love that! It would be a fun alternative to Ezra and the original cat, to have him with all four of them. Like an alternate take on the original gift. And kittens in the game are just TOO cute for words. Have you ever watched them sleep? Adorable!

I must say that I've loved all the pets made during this exchange. The corgi, the pug, that pink one named Strawberry (which I'm guessing doesn't have a specific breed)... they just make you want to hug and cuddle them. And then all the cats are so adorable and personable! Too cute!

MiaSkywalker and everyone else, I'm blushing

Thank you, as to all the tips and tricks used for the build, you don't need to look any further than the ZooU tutorials. If anyone really wants I can whip up a tutorial build on how I built it. I'm more than happy to share all my tricks.

I'll be back by tomorrow, right now I'm tired, we just said night to youngest and her littles. We had all 4 grands running around for almost 7 hours ..... tired might be an understatement.

Ps, the only difference between the two lots is the family with it.

@Mystik1978 Yay I'm glad you like the Emberwoods and their house! Yep that was my concept with Clara I love obviously occult sims but I also love ones that are subtle and blend in, its like having a fun secret. Sort of like trying to blend in with the "muggles". Think it really depends on the world I'm playing in or the story I'm trying to tell. I played a werewolf once that I tried to see how long I could play him before he transformed in front of someone. Made it more difficult for him to not transform by giving him the hot headed trait. I think you might enjoy having a genie in the house, the thing I like about them is they make enjoying other parts of the game so much easier as you have more time to devote to gameplay with careers and other things. Since genies can keep the house clean, other sims clean and everyone fed easily. So happy you like the living room in the house. It was redesigned a few times till I changed the wallpaper to a color I was happy with and it finally came together. Yes there is one more gift, I will give one hint its a public space. ;)

@AlphaFen lol a Netflix show would be great especially if I got the royalties from them being in it. For the names a little bit of training and a little bit of being born with it. Sometimes I do research for names, sometimes they just come to me, sometimes I use the name generator and I just flat out make a lot of sims so have had to search deep for more unique names. There can only be so many Bobs (though ironically I don't think I've ever seen a sim named Bob.) A teal club would be fun, its slowly becoming my favorite color. Added a lot of that to my RL living room recently actually. I am really liking Nature's Nook, its so hard to find good starter homes that don't look boring and this is really stylish loving all of the windows despite the high window cleaning bill it would have and its so hard to find someone that actually does do windows.

@tanubanue Salty Springs Resort is soooo much better than what it once was. I always thought the building looked super drab (which is on purpose of course) I love the life you brought back to it. The palm trees add some much needed greenery. The basket ball court is a fun addition that you don't see in many resorts. I have wanted to convert it to a functioning hotel for the longest time but have been too lazy and it looks like I wont have to now that I can just grab yours. Aww the kittens are adorable looks like a happy little cat family.

@MoonandStars83 I am so happy you were able to sort out your problem. I tried to see if I could help fix it but good to see everything worked out. :)

@Mmdrgntobldrgn Loving the terrain sculpting on the off the grid house. The doors that look like the house was literally built into a hill looks really cool and that curved bridge is beautiful. You have phenomenal sculpting skills. All of the wood tones and cream colors you have used make the place feel very cozy. I picked up a copy of Hanna earlier she is really pretty.

@ciane Yep you guessed who is lurking in the house. Actually I kind of feel bad when I summon her cause Theo has the shy trait and apparently sims with that trait are freaked out by her.

@Bookworm742 Oooh good idea I have an area in Salmon woods where I placed my other Victorian builds this one will fit in nicely.

@aricarai  That is high praise since your sims are always so stunning. Ya I was really happy with their adult faces sometimes some sim's genetics have weird results when they have kids. I remember back in sims 2, I liked how Malcolm Landgrabb looked but every time I had him have kids they always looked bad no mater what the mother looked like. For Clara's dress I had to go back to the sims store to find it, I knew it was from the wedding set but couldn't remember the exact name of it. This is it here though it looks like Mia already answered your question. :)http://store.thesims3.com/productDetail.html?productId=OFB-SIM3:22690 Its a really great dress the color channels really make it great for weddings or being just a normal formal dress with some color changing. For Victorian homes I look at a lot of inspiration pictures and try to build the exterior first rather than anything inside. Lots of tall bay windows also help. I find the now and then manor is really helpful for making a good Victorian home. The roof pieces are so incredibly useful. They also give you a lot of extra space to work with where a roof would normally be since they are pretty small in comparison to the actual roofing. Theo's room is probably my favorite as well. I have never used that bed or chair before but thought they went nicely together despite being from two different sets.

@MiaSkywalker Hidden Springs is one I really like as well, I think modern worlds with a touch of fantasy is becoming my favorite things to play in. I played an online game with that sort of setting for a few years. HS is probably one of the prettiest worlds I think EA has made. I wish there was a tad more lots in it but that can be easily fixed by replacing a few rabbit holes with the multi purpose ones they had added over the years. Have you ever converted the disco club into an actual club? There always seems to be a lot of sims there when I do it which makes the lot really fun. I am happy that you are loving the builds so much, I really like to make something everyone can enjoy. That's one of the reasons I love building so much. I find that in these exchanges the gifts become more than a gift for the specific buddy as people often find lots of goodies to download beyond what was made for specifically for them.

@MiaSkywalker the port can probably be 64x64, but the houseboats themselves are limited by the sizes of the bases. Basically, there's 2 curved front sizes, and 3 of the barge styles. So yeah, they all tend to be kinda small. ;)

@tanubanue So glad you're enjoying them! Was planning to have your third gift up tonight, but, um. The hubby kinda distracted me with a couple of rounds of Heroes of the Storm, which ended up taking about 3 hours longer than planned, cause we were having so much fun. Oopsie! So your third gift will be along sometime tomorrow, and if all goes well, I have one more after that for Sunday-ish.

Seriously loving all the pretty things I'm getting to add to my game, everyone has done such a fantastic job so far!

Ohhh! So there are bases you have to start with!

Seems to me that I might need to research how to make a houseboat, at some point. I've never been very interested in building one, but it might be an interesting project to try to learn about, at least.

Aww, thank you for your comment - I do love to have a little fiddle every now and again in CAS! Your Victorian though - WOW  I always find them so daunting, but I may have to try to do this; that's really good advice! I have that set, but have never used it, mostly because those roof pieces look much bigger to what I'm used to building. So do the roof pieces then form a room and you can decorate underneath them. I need to have a little play with them, I think! LOVE IT!

@MoonandStars83 Wooo! You put such hard work into getting sorted, I'm so glad it's over for you and we can all enjoy your build :)

@Mmdrgntobldrgn Your landscaping is so creative! I can't imagine coming up with anything half so inventive :hushed:

@Catdog123 I love your build especially all the patterns and colour combinations in the living/dining area and it's coincidently perfect for a sim I have who's been homeless for months because I keep meaning to build her something. You've saved me a lot of work ;)

@ciane I started this week with no houseboats at all and because of the great ones in this exchange I'm going to have more houseboats than sea :p I love the blues and how it has everything a sim needs yet still feels so open :) I've loved reading all the things you've been doing with everyone's creations, and you're right I think Ezra and Hannah would go great together. As to Nature's Nook, YAY I'm so glad you like it! :star: I wanted to something based around natural materials right from off because it seemed like something you would like :) As for the bridge of the curvaceous kind, I used this helpful guide from an awesome simmer :*

@tanubanue I'd forgotten about resorts! :hushed: Ezra looks so smart in his tux, I was in game placing his home right next to his bride-to-be (sometimes fate needs a helping hand/over-controlling simmer >:) ), can't wait to play with him when I can. I really love Salty Springs, it looks like a proper beach resort and it's perfect for Lucky Palms (and gets rid of the weird space sucking original lot quite nicely). The blue chalets are darling, I wouldn't change a thing! It's going to add so much to my game and I can't wait for my sims to have weekend breaks there with people who may or may not be their spouses o:)

    Gift Number 4 @ciane

    Name: Ava Armstrong
Traits: Perfectionist, Artistic, Eco-friendly, Ambitious and Neat
Skills: 2 cooking, 1 handy, 1 charisma, 1 artistic and 1 diploma from the School of the Overly Organized
    Funds: 16,500
    CC/CAP/Spawners:Nada/None/Zero
Modern Style: Minimalist Simplicity (not too minimalist, she does have clothes :*)
Backstory/blurb: Simplicity and serenity are fundamental aspects of artistic Ava Armstrong’s style and outlook on life. It’s even part of her intricate 10 year sock sorting diary :hushed: But all this calm is hard to maintain, especially when other people keep getting in the way of her dream to be a top eco-friendly architect. Young Ava is so full of hopes and dreams but will her ambitions help her make the world a better place? Or will they break her? More importantly, will her socks ever get sorted!? :weary:

Sidenote: At time of writing socks and I were having some issues :*

Outfits from left to right: Everyday, Formal, Pyjamas, Exercise, Swimming (outerwear not pictured)

    GOOOOOD MORNING FELLOW SIMMERS!!!

It has been a very rough few weeks for me in real life land. The last update I will give on my mom, is that she is now -- has been since Thursday evening -- living in a HOSPICE home. More like residential, cos I had to fork out over 3 grand for 2 weeks. :s But, all this means is that SHE will now get the help that she desperately needs. Especially when I'm at work. And I can now concentrate on me. For you see... my own health was really starting to go downhill.

Thank you ALL (again) for listening to my babble, and for ALL the kind words you have said. Yes... while I was away from my computer, I was able to bring this forum up on my phone. That was how I was able to "check in" (if you will) from time to time. ;)

But, now that that headache is "over", I am here (finally) to come out of the closet :p (so to speak) and reveal who MY buddy is!!

@AlphaFen ~ What the heck is it with socks anyway? They usually wait until I decide I'm never going to find the match and throw the one away for the other to appear in a puff of smoke right where I should have seen it many times. Sigh.... Anyway Ava is really cute and I'm more than happy to help her continue with her diary :)

@MsPrissy88 ~ I'm happy that your Mom is now living where both you and she can be comfortable. I know it's not an easy thing for either of you. I'm also happy you get to take care of you now and get yourself happy and healthy. And I'm excited for you that you'll now be able to enjoy this exchange. So many wonderful things to add to our games! <3

@AlphaFen - I find socks love to crawl into pillow cases and fitted sheets as well as pant legs. If you have those netted zipper bags for laundry, you can throw all the socks into them before dropping them in the washing machine. Then, you can start drying them in that and when the rest of the laundry is dry, you can take them out of the zip bag and finish drying without any of those other distracting clothes in the dryer. :) Or of course, you can actually let them hang dry.

I line my socks in the dresser drawer from one end to the other without actually folding them (for short ones) or just a fold or two (for longer ones). It makes it so easy to see just the socks you want. Maybe I'll take a pic to show you. You'll see my brightly colored socks!

Oh, yay, another sim to play with such great traits and a few skills already. I love playing the architect profession. (I see you've uncovered my secret!) I know just where she's going to live! LOVE her natural CAS colors and style and hint of blue and rose on the dress is a flashback to Bauhaus Blue! Perfect. Thank you so much for the hours of fun you've provided for me. I love the sims, the dogs, the homes, and of course, your marvelous wit. (For those of you who haven't glanced at the book titles in the book shelves and sim's inventory, you are missing out!)

And, OOPS, I deleted those tutorial pics earlier to make more room for media on wordpress. I've reached my free limit on storage! I shall have to be less pic happy.

Oh, yesterday's play is found here:

@AlphaFen ~ Today's gifts aren't very exciting but I think you may like to put them in Lucky Palms to replace the ones there now.

I felt The Sandy Place needed a few more things to do if sims are actually going to hang out there and the Wonderful Wells Community Garden needed some updating with all the plants that are in the game (I think I got all of them in there)

I'm pretty sure you wanting more to do at the festival has inspired me to redo many of the public lots in Lucky Palms that need some updating. :) I'll be working on more of them in the future. Both of these lots are on the originals that have just been edited.

First a before picture of each ~

This is what The Sandy Place looks like when you load a new Lucky Palms. It is at 113 Lakeside Drive.

And the Wonderful Wells Community Garden before. It is at 70 Wellspring Parkway. (Don't you love how Lucky Palms addresses always have to do with water? lol

    And after ~

The Sandy Place Redone ~ You will need to hire a chef and set the price and menu for the lot. Hey it's not laundry! B)

I hope you like them. I have one more gift for you. :)
