@phoebebebe13 I might have to rethink my budget due to a recent unexpected event and go for an i5 instead of i7. Would I still be able to play with high settings or that is only possible with an i7?
Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw If you've a ready mind, where those of wit and learning will always find their kind
I decided that I will be buying a new gaming desktop for Christmas (yes I always bless myself with expensive gifts that time of year). However, I know nothing about computers (I own a Dell laptop at the moment). Having a look around some sites it appears there are many brands that I haven't even heard of before. So my question basically is: which brand do you guys suggest?
@Corvinow. This game requires an i5 quad core on desktop. Laptop hardware is weaker than desktop hardware so i7 quad core on laptop is preferred. This game is processor heavy. You cant upgrade a processor or video card in a laptop. You are stuck with the specs you buy. Will an i5 quad laptop survive the whole game and all it's add ons? I don't know. Since you can't upgrade a laptop it should meet the recommended requirements on desktop.
The first dell you posted would be ok. It has less ram but enough ram to run the game. The rest of the hardware meets requirements.

Custom is always best where you pick out your own certified hardware. If you don't know how to build a gaming desktop there are custom webs where you can pick out the hardware and they will build it for you. Custom is more expensive than buying a pre-made built computer off the shelf . We do have computer build experts here that can help you pick out the best hardware for your money.
Not all desktops can be upgraded or hardware changed. If you buy a gaming desktop you need to make sure in the future you can change , upgrade or switch out hardware so your computer does not become a throw away computer. The case should be roomy , have good cooling.
Depending on where you live and your budget could make the difference of getting a decent desktop or not. USA compared to other places has a lot more choices on computers and they are also cheaper compared to other places. UK prices are better too than most. USA prices $700 and up currently. Prices change and fluctuate.
It's best to ask for a computer when your ready to buy. What is available now may not be available when your ready to buy. Hardware is always changing and new computers are always coming out. November- December is sometimes a good time to buy with holiday sales.
We can help you find a computer that meets all requirements to run the game when your ready to buy.
@Jean the sims 4 is processor heavy. an i7 quad core is preferred tor the sims 4. The rest of the computer is fine as long as it has good coiling.. What country are you in? I want to see if I can find you something better. How much is that laptop your looking at and price.
@jean that is a little harder for me to find a computer there. I'm in the USA. You might be fine with the i5 but i7 might be better depending on your budget . Try to find a computer with similar specs only with an i7 processor if you can in your budget . With the computer you posted it will run TS3 on ultra and ts4 for now ( TS4 is not complete) You maybe able to survive the whole sims 4 with the i5 but I cant promise you will be able to play on ultra when it is complete, The game is processor heavy.
@Jean . It's my fault my head was still on your laptop. Those specs you posted are fine but do you have a link to the desktop? Just want to make sure you have a roomy case , good cooling and room for upgrades. @chesterbigbird is a desktop build expert and may know places to get good computers in the Netherlands so speak to her

Unfortunately I can't consider a desktop, it would be a lot cheaper.
Acer best choice. Has more ram than the other computers. Newer i7 quad core and a new 1050 ti
The dell would be the second choice. (the first dell you posted)
scratch the other two
I say go for the acer more ram
Laptops come with two video cards . You will need this when you get your laptop. You will have to tell the game to use your Nvidia card http://forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/776882/sims-4-and-switchable-graphics-how-to-nvidia-amd/p1

I came across this desktop pc:
Kabylake Intel Core i5 7600K 4-Core 4x3.8Ghz (turbo: 4.2Ghz)
Nvidia Geforce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB GDDR5
1TB SATA600 HD
16GB PC2400 DDR4
Will this suffice for sims 3 + 4?

Processor i7 quad core
video card 1050, 1050 ti or 1060 , 1070 depending on your budget but all are higher than the recommended requirements
8 gb computer ram , 16 gb if you want to future proof
at least 500 gb hard drive space
windows 64 bit
You would need to research the models to see product reviews. MSI makes a good laptop
This is a desktop so the i5 is fine (it's actually good.) It's laptops that should have the i7.
It will run the games perfectly on ultra.
