This was something that used to happen in Sims2. The children would drop whatever they were doing to go greet their returning parent, so long as their relationship level was high enough. Missed this in Sims3, just another fail for that iteration and one of the interactions I hoped would come in time. Never did, sadly. I'm more cautious as a result.
Yes! It's so heartwarming. I thought it was funny in 2 since it was almost a priority thing to bolt to their parent once they came home. In 4 they usually do it when they aren't really doing anything in particular, at least.
I sure do find this cute!! But I gotta admit that I miss more my dog Sadie doing this!! No matter what she was doing, eating, sleeping, barking to the fridge, when my Sim came home, she always welcomed him!!
It's very cute and I think if the entire game were to develop in that fashion it would really become something but those moments, those real moments, seem often few and far between with my sim seeming being an island unto himself surround by other islands. The Sims 4 has it's moments, the trick that keeps missing is increasing them and in an expedient manner. The pace of development is too slow...
I do, it is usually my sims children who hug their siblings and parents, every time(when their idle most times) though their has been a few where the kid would stop playing with the toy automatically to hug a sibling or parent. But this time i was shocked when Jae came out to hug his husband who was uncomfortable from work.
I love how happy the sims look when they get a hug.
This one i managed to pause at just the right time, with Hank hugging his dad. (it goes by so fast that i can't pause my game fast enough)
It is such a special photo of Hank and his Dad reaching out to hug each other ! @AkiraAnubise It was very nice that you were able to take a picture of the special moment .
Earlier today I was wishing this would happen in my game. I have never had it happen and frankly surprised at this post since I thought this was a missing feature. My sims just want to drink water from the closest sink and troll teh forums.

It's a cute touch for sims and pets alike, though it's a little weird for my scientist to come home in TS4 and his husband is waiting on the edge of the lot, on the lawn for his arrival. Instead of in the foyer like a normal person.
Hope TS4 eventually has dogs to be loyal greeters too!

Me too! I don't think I've seen this happen.
