I posted a small update for my Sunset Valley game. Quin did better with his Child Care service on the second day. And I've also decided that he and Laurel will be adopting the little ghost orphan I saw in the Pleasant Rest Graveyard.
And this woman decided that it would be a good idea to bring a bird to a pool lol.
Mark decides to get a bite to eat before work.
Cam invites over her friend from work to talk to her about the pregnancy.
"I'm really nervous about the pregnancy."
"Why is that?"
"Because will barely have any money, we spent most of it on this house"
"Don't worry, you guys will get through it."

Eli and Ami Jankowsky were up early and eating breakfast.
They both tended to the daily chores before starting to study skills.
They both stopped to play online social games on the iPads as the snow was melting.
Eli finished her painting and sold it for 1693$ in cash.
It started raining as they both started eating dinner before going out to visit the pool.
They got back home at 8PM and got into bed.
Hope you are all okay and enjoying your games. I may post something today but if not definitely tomorrow and I will be reading the latest updates too and making replies.
@Randomness000 I've never tried the tanning booth before. One more thing in Sims 3 to do! Loved the zombie shot and the ones in the swimming pool. LOL at the bird on her shoulder.
@TadOlson Deery Meadows has a nice layout. ...And I can't tell for sure, but those two paintings looked like they could have fit side by side on the wall! Similar scenes?
I caught something I'd never noticed in my game before. Of course, I've seen sims snuggled up together like this. But last night, I watched as Angel used her hand to move her pillow closer to Brandon, sighing and purring as she scooted over to him. I've never seen a sim actually move the pillow over like that.

I don't really have much for comments, it's way past bedtime and I'm exhausted lol. But hopefully I'll have a bit more time to pop in, at least for a couple weeks while I have a nice and consistent schedule. And I just had a nice *almost* vacation and I still feeling so good from it lol... and I did some sims 3 stuff while I had time so I thought I'd swing by with that.
@LBell- Welcome back! I love that picture too, she looks like she's having fun and he's just so serious... it's great.
@lanlyn- I've noticed that before, sims pulling the pillow over to be closer to their SO, it took me a couple years though... it's such a subtle detail. It's super cute though, those little, often overlooked, details are just things that make this game so great and why I still love it and can find new cool things after 7 years (I still can't believe TS3 is that old though!).
And I've seen a couple new faces so hello and welcome!
So... I was playing Evie and Alex a bit on the weekend. I felt the need to pop in and check on them when I realized A-I've been playing Evie for a whole year (as of sometime in August) and B-Evie and Alex would celebrate their anniversary around the end of August (I'm too cool for exact dates lol) and it would be their first! Which is kind of crazy that they've only been together a year and they've been engaged for a while and had a baby, they waste no time lol. But I'm so overly excited sometimes (all the time with these two) so I had to celebrate a bit (and by celebrate I mean actually play my dang game XD).
I'm sure the new parents could use some time away from the baby and Evie has always wanted to visit France for more than a quick tour stop (seriously if you could browse all the clutter in her house she has brochures for Paris all over. This was before I even considered getting WA again and after getting it she promptly rolled the wish to visit Champs Les Sims). So they took a late anniversary trip to Champs Les Sims, after they got sick of Lucas enough to leave him behind (with Evie's twin sister, good luck Lucas! LOL). JK, they would have taken him if they could have... they fight over who gets to look after Lucas when he cries, and then whoever wins will just like hog him lol.
Anyway this isn't part of the story or anything just for some fun and I thought I'd share. They pretty much went right to bed as soon as they got there, they were so tired. And Evie, as usual, was awake before Alex in the morning. So, being the loving fiancee that she is, she whipped out her guitar and started rocking out, right next to where poor Alex was sleeping.

(don't mind all the junk on my screen. Sometimes I forget to hide it, I'm not used to using fraps for screenshots (but the in game scree capture doesn't capture reshade effects)).
FYI, Alex did not go put clothes on. I love this weirdo, lol. He's really very shy normally but as soon as his shirt comes off he's mr. confident lol. I mean who can blame him though, like if you've got that kind of bod...well, yeah, flaunt it boy. XD. It's just so weird though. And Evie is ms.proper and had to get dressed and showered and all that before going down to the public dining area.
(I just really had to include their weirdness, lol... this is why I love them)
And Evie left him behind and went to do some shopping while he hung around the dining area making friends and got dressed and whatever. She found out about a cool tomb to explore so she and Alex met up there and promptly fell asleep again... it took so long to get them both there that night had fallen.
They woke up to a beautiful sunrise before disappearing into the dark depths of the tomb.
Evie was eager to start hacking away at rock and just really got into it. Note to Alex: Never, EVER get on her bad side, or you'll be the rocks.
Alex got to tackle finding and opening the secret door.
But before they could go on, Evie had something to say... "Babe you stink. Here use this shower in a can I got you." Such romance XD.
"I'm not using a shower in a can what even is that?"
"Do it, or else."
"Fine... Hey this is kinda cool."

And just... more pics... I dunno what I have here even some of my pics copied twice and others not at all, so I've hopefully just gotten all the duplicates and good enough (it's my dang keyboard not copying right I'm sure, since I just use the keyboard shortcut and I think my c key is a bit wonky)
and of course there had to be a romantic outing. They had a picnic in the park, because that's like their fav thing (they celebrated their anniversary a bit closer to it with a picnic in the park at home, and took Lucas along (which is where my avi is from). But this was like the big celebration)
Okay, now bedtime for me. I'll hopefully swing by tomorrow. I have some stuff on Austin too, and maybe I'll be up to commenting a bit more.
Hello everyone, I continue to have major computer trouble. I think the desktop is actually beyond salvaging at this point, it won't even load Windows. I suspect the hard drive itself might be gone. First the monitor went about a week ago and now the desktop itself, was running slowly and then I tried to do a system restore from my backup, and my backup hard drive wouldn't read no matter what I did...
I've had the desktop now for three and a half years, I bought it just before the release of University Life in 2013 (!!!)
@dreamerz13 Welcome back! Looks like Evie and Alex had the same idea Sage and Kyle had, going to France for their honeymoon... The pix are wonderful and looks like they had a great time.
@TadOlson I like how Storybrook is arranged with most of the roads accessible in the main valley. @venusdemilosims That's too bad about your desktop. Do you think you can replace it soon? I bet you miss your sims.
@dreamerz13 It's fun to catch those little details in the game. I recently noticed some nice touches when a sim grooms horses too. Makes things more realistic. ...Loved Evie waking up Alex by playing the guitar. And then he broods! ...Boy, he's quite the hunk too. ...That's a gorgeous sunrise photo of the standing stones. ...And the picnic poses were awesome.

Ivanovitch Family
Tanner and Tracy were both up so early that late fall morning that it was still dark out as they got ready for the day.
They both started studying gardening skill after chores were done.
They both tried doing some paintings and finished late in the afternoon.
They both spent some time studying inventing skill on the iPads until it was 6PM and time to get to work.
They left for work in the pouring rain at 6PM.
It was 10PM when they got home and got into bed.
Jankowsky Family
Eli and Ami also had to get to bed though Ami was out at the farmer's market and ended up stopping at the country library and staying there overnight.
Eli got up and got ready for the day before finding she'd have to tend the chores.
Ami arrived at hoem while Eli was still doing chores and started helping.
They both got their new painting easels out and began to paint small pictures.
They added new sections onto their extension just before leaving for work at 3:30 in the afternoon.
They both got home at 7:30 and stopped to eat leftover sushi without noticing that it was starting to go bad.
Great updates everyone, still not played any sims as another game been taking
my free time up recently hehe, but I log on here now and then to comment.
Rafael: He woke up in bed alone...in only his underwear...his clothes were on the floor. Zelda must have taken them off and just left them where they dropped. His grandfather's necklace was on the dresser along with his sunglasses and his earrings. Zelda tended to toss her earrings like that, so he could easily imagine her doing so with his items as well, and it wasn't like she knew what had sentimental value and what didn't. (He didn't care about the sunglasses or the earrings, he could buy another pair of either, but his grandfather's necklace was just that, his grandfather's necklace. Rafael had so few items of his family's that every single one of them was precious...but most of them were in his trunk in the basement, his grandfather's necklace was the only one of them he wore on him, he wore it to bed, he wore it under his regular clothes...though he supposed he needed to stop wearing it. Zelda wanted kids, so, for their sake, he'd put his grandfather's necklace in the trunk for them, to explain their family history to them when they were old enough.)
He was ridiculously hungry. He'd thrown up all his food before becoming a vampire...and then had drank Zelda's plasma...and then been cured of being a vampire, and slept for...however long he'd been asleep. He'd slept so long he physically couldn't sleep any more. He just didn't want to get out of bed and face anyone, not even Zelda. As long as they thought he was asleep, no one would talk to him about it. He felt worthless; he was Zelda's weakness. She'd resigned herself to die rather than hurt him. Her! His fiery witch! He'd tried so hard to eliminate what he thought Zelda's biggest weakness was and found out that it was him. Him! He had almost been used to kill her. He wished he could forget the taste of her plasma in his mouth. He could forget something so vastly important as the fact that he'd been bitten by a vampire, and was turning into one, but no, he couldn't forget drinking her plasma! If he'd at least died, then he couldn't be used against her again...but she loved him, so he couldn't die, it would hurt her...he was her weak, helpless, fooolish human who could be used to get into her secured house and almost murder her, and she'd still curl up in bed with him! At least Zelda and Deedee had not seen how the sadist had rendered him into a pathetic begging mess...but he still knew and he hated himself for it. They'd apparently cured him to make sure that he couldn't be used as a puppet vampire assassin again, but that just meant that he was still a weak human with human senses and human vulnerabilities...who could be controlled and bitten again!
He tried to tell himself that he should just be happy to be alive and be happy that Zelda loved him...and that he'd not ended up being used to kill his wife and then continued to be the sadists slave until she tired of him and walked him into the sunlight...but he couldn't help but feel angry that he had no control of any of this; the only reason that had not happened was because they'd not expected Deedee or taken her seriously...the only thing that had saved him was that he didn't know that Deedee had a sleep elixir. His ignorance had saved him! That was perhaps the most horrible way he could be saved from anything; it was a slap in the face. Though he supposed his ignorance had put him in danger in the first place.
He'd need to keep colloidal silver in his plasma stream to both keep vampires from reading his mind or biting him. They'd never bite him with it in his blood...so really, he'd just been taken off guard by the things he didn't know about...and now he knew about them, and could take steps to protect himself and Zelda...so, no, they couldn't just bite him again. He was not helpless.
He'd have to face the world sometime, no matter how he felt. If self loathing could stop him, he'd already be dead; he'd have never been able to be raised to be a well educated, law abiding Russian citizen and then become a school drop-out criminal living in fasccist Simerica to survive. No...not just living here...now he was a Simerican citizen, thanks to Zelda 'fixing his immigration problem'...but this made him feel like a traitor to Mother Russia! (If he believed in such things, he'd be worried his grandma was turning in her grave...but now that he knew ghosts were real...should he be concerned? Were his family members ghosts wandering around in Moscow? He still had so many questions about the supernatural world, and he would need to start asking Zelda or researching for answers before they bit him like the sadist had.) He would get dressed and assess what was currently going on, and what he was expected to do...and at the very least he'd need to drink something soon.
Rafael: For a moment, he was dumbstruck by seeing her hair down. They'd only spent a few days together of course, but the entire time, her hair had been kept up in that tight bun with the braids...she'd even slept that way. Only a few strands of her hair had escaped on the sides of her face, and those had some slight waviness but not really a hint at the full measure of what her hair would do if it weren't so tightly controlled. So, her hair had a bit more natural curl than his...he wanted to reach out and touch her tornado like curls, but he didn't dare. "Yourr hairr lyooks lofely, Zyelda."
Zelda: "Nice try, Twinkle Toes, but this is a tangled mess! I just haven't bothered to fight with it yet, you know, because otherwise, Deedee would not have stopped babysitting me to go do her thing, she'd just hang around here forever and pretend she didn't have anything better to do. So, I totally owned her at Skate-locity 5000. It was really fun, you should have seen that last combo. I would have loved to see the look on your face! Anyway, then I sent her home with a bunch of apple jam, I can always make some more later. But she really can't, you wouldn't believe how bad of a cook she is, and she doesn't have the space for a canning set up anyway. And I kinda owed her something; I mean, she did totally cure you, and that was probably a pain, it sounds like. Sorry I took so long, Granny took Beatrice- so Beatrice was the witch that died last night, and I burned Lavinia, the vampire that was actually controlling you...to ash...and had to wash her out of my hair before I came down...because you know, eww. So, anyway, you don't have to worry about them and they didn't get away with it. Not even for a day."
Rafael: "It's okay, Zyelda, I figurred you verre gettink rrevyenge...I vas a byit vorried abyout vhethyerr you had remembyerred yourr dyeath flovvyerr or not. Dyid you? Oh, so, Dyeedyee has left, thyen?" He was not looking forward to looking Deedee in the eye after begging her for her help like that...he wondered if he could get away with pretending he didn't remember any of that...he supposed that if she cornered him, he'd apologize for kidnapping her; there was no denying that he had wronged her. But perhaps he could just be too busy working to run into Deedee again. She likely didn't want to see him again anyway, what with the kidnapping her and everything. Hopefully having Zelda as her friend again pleased her. It definitely pleased Zelda.
Zelda: "Yeah, I got it but didn't need it... like always! Yeah, she left a few minutes ago. You just missed her."
Rafael: "Arre therre styill pyancakes?"
Zelda: "Oh, you must be starving! But you can't just eat pancakes; you need some protein. Especially after all that nearly dying you've been up to! I'll whip up some peanut butter and jelly sandwiches real quick."
Rafael: "Peanyut buttyerr?" He asked. Was that a joke name like 'hot dog' or was there actually some sort of mixture of garden peas and nuts and butter? He supposed peas, slivered almonds and butter might be good together, maybe... he wasn't sure if he'd seen that on a tv show sometime in passing, but that didn't sound like it would be good with jelly...and wouldn't it be a lumpy mess? And then on a sandwich? Of course, Simericans didn't seem to be very good at food... she seemed to be taking out that white sugary paste "bread" with no grains in it and some sort of brown spread...when she took off the lid it smelled oddly pungent, and completely foreign.
Zelda: "Yeah, you know, like roasted peanuts? Only ground up smooth, and suspended in oil so it's spreadable. They make a crunchy one too, but I've always preferred the smooth kind."
Rafael: Now that he thought of it, he was sure he'd heard of peanuts before... hadn't Cyrus said someone was 'willing to work for peanuts' and then had to explain that it meant they worked for almost nothing...?
Zelda: "You've really never had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, Twinkle Toes?"
Rafael: "No." He said, then a bit doubtfully. "Is this a commyon fyood forr Simyerricans?" The same Simericans who would eat nearly fluorescent orange 'cheese product' that was as smooth as plastic? Obviously she'd had this food enough to develop a preference for ground smooth peanut paste suspended in oil rather than the other kind, and Zelda likely wanted comfort food too...after all, he'd been forced to drink her plasma, but she'd lost plasma and thought she was going to die. He'd eat it even if he didn't like it, at least it wasn't her plasma. Of course, the name actually had some relationship to what was in it...peanut butter was made from peanuts...this was a promising start. Perhaps it was just like Nutella, which was hazelnut chocolate spread made with palm oil...maybe they just used jelly instead of chocolate, and it's not like anyone would put a sweetened nut spread and jelly in the same jar, and Simericans seemed to prefer bizarrely uniform textures. He really hoped he'd like it, because if it was a comfort food for Zelda, she'd likely want to eat it with him often. It would be nice to find a Simerican food he actually liked. Somehow, every Simerican thing he'd tried had been at the least a disappointment (bacon and sausage just tasted wrong, they over salted their pickles and put them in vinegar) or even an outright insult to what he expected food to be ("cheese product" in an aerosol can?! and of course "white bread" or the "wheat bread" that was really just white bread with wood shavings and food coloring- he could imagine if some baker in Moscow ever tried anything so underhanded they'd be beaten to death by a mob of elderly women who went through the war and the famines and weren't going to put up with anyone trying to put that in their grandchildren's mouths!)... but this sounded like maybe...maybe it could be a good food...hopefully it wasn't sickeningly sweet like their pastries.
Zelda: "It's mostly a kids' food, it's easy to prepare and doesn't take long, since it's just spreading the peanut butter and jelly. Grape's traditional, but we can use any jelly if you like a different one better."
Rafael: It was vile! It was not like Nutella, not sweet at all, other than the "white bread" and of course the very sweet grape jelly...It was thicker and sticker and so much saltier with a oily nut taste that made him want to gag. He supposed this meant that he didn't like the taste of peanuts, because it didn't seem to be overly sweetened, though it was extremely salty, which he did not expect being that everything else in the sandwich seemed to say 'sweet'...of course, just his luck, a Simerican food that was not tasteless except for a ton of sugar...and it had to taste terrible! Also, it stuck to the roof of his mouth, so he couldn't just swallow it quickly. He was going to eat it anyway. He'd been told Simericans were taught to "clean their plate", so he needed to finish it to not insult her.
Zelda: "So, what do you think? Do you like it?"
Rafael: "I'm afrraid I haf nevyerr gottyen the hank of the Simerryican palyate."
The restoration process on the desktop continues to be a pain in the rear. First the monitor went out and I'm now borrowing the monitor that I'd initially given my sister and nephew... and now the computer itself started to creep along for no apparent reason, which is why I decided to go through with planned maintenance and reinstall everything.
@TadOlson Yep, I have backups, but the backup program I was using failed to detect it on my external hard drive. What good is having backups if you can't use them?
@lanlyn Thanks for the encouragement. Yeah, I do miss them and it's a pain, but I'm dealing with a lot at the moment - and really haven't had the energy to tackle the computer problem.

But in his own chauvinistic way, Roy was hoping he could be faithful to Holly. He decided to have a heart-to-heart talk with his horse.
It's difficult for Holly to be objective about Roy. She loves him ... to death.
And maybe, just maybe, Roy is becoming a little goofy over Holly too.

FYI, Alex did not go put clothes on. I love this weirdo, lol. He's really very shy normally but as soon as his shirt comes off he's mr. confident lol. I mean who can blame him though, like if you've got that kind of bod...well, yeah, flaunt it boy. XD. It's just so weird though. And Evie is ms.proper and had to get dressed and showered and all that before going down to the public dining area.
(I just really had to include their weirdness, lol... this is why I love them)
And Evie left him behind and went to do some shopping while he hung around the dining area making friends and got dressed and whatever. She found out about a cool tomb to explore so she and Alex met up there and promptly fell asleep again... it took so long to get them both there that night had fallen.
They woke up to a beautiful sunrise before disappearing into the dark depths of the tomb.
Evie was eager to start hacking away at rock and just really got into it. Note to Alex: Never, EVER get on her bad side, or you'll be the rocks.
Alex got to tackle finding and opening the secret door.
But before they could go on, Evie had something to say... "Babe you stink. Here use this shower in a can I got you." Such romance XD.
"I'm not using a shower in a can what even is that?"
"Do it, or else."
"Fine... Hey this is kinda cool."

And just... more pics... I dunno what I have here even some of my pics copied twice and others not at all, so I've hopefully just gotten all the duplicates and good enough (it's my dang keyboard not copying right I'm sure, since I just use the keyboard shortcut and I think my c key is a bit wonky)
and of course there had to be a romantic outing. They had a picnic in the park, because that's like their fav thing (they celebrated their anniversary a bit closer to it with a picnic in the park at home, and took Lucas along (which is where my avi is from). But this was like the big celebration)
Okay, now bedtime for me. I'll hopefully swing by tomorrow. I have some stuff on Austin too, and maybe I'll be up to commenting a bit more.

@dreamerz13 It's fun to catch those little details in the game. I recently noticed some nice touches when a sim grooms horses too. Makes things more realistic. ...Loved Evie waking up Alex by playing the guitar. And then he broods! ...Boy, he's quite the hunk too. ...That's a gorgeous sunrise photo of the standing stones. ...And the picnic poses were awesome.

Here's an update of two days from my 100 baby challenge.
Ivanovitch Family
Tanner and Tracy were both up so early that late fall morning that it was still dark out as they got ready for the day.
They both started studying gardening skill after chores were done.
They both tried doing some paintings and finished late in the afternoon.
They both spent some time studying inventing skill on the iPads until it was 6PM and time to get to work.
They left for work in the pouring rain at 6PM.
It was 10PM when they got home and got into bed.
Jankowsky Family
Eli and Ami also had to get to bed though Ami was out at the farmer's market and ended up stopping at the country library and staying there overnight.
Eli got up and got ready for the day before finding she'd have to tend the chores.
Ami arrived at hoem while Eli was still doing chores and started helping.
They both got their new painting easels out and began to paint small pictures.
They added new sections onto their extension just before leaving for work at 3:30 in the afternoon.
They both got home at 7:30 and stopped to eat leftover sushi without noticing that it was starting to go bad.
my free time up recently hehe, but I log on here now and then to comment.
Rafael: He woke up in bed alone...in only his underwear...his clothes were on the floor. Zelda must have taken them off and just left them where they dropped. His grandfather's necklace was on the dresser along with his sunglasses and his earrings. Zelda tended to toss her earrings like that, so he could easily imagine her doing so with his items as well, and it wasn't like she knew what had sentimental value and what didn't. (He didn't care about the sunglasses or the earrings, he could buy another pair of either, but his grandfather's necklace was just that, his grandfather's necklace. Rafael had so few items of his family's that every single one of them was precious...but most of them were in his trunk in the basement, his grandfather's necklace was the only one of them he wore on him, he wore it to bed, he wore it under his regular clothes...though he supposed he needed to stop wearing it. Zelda wanted kids, so, for their sake, he'd put his grandfather's necklace in the trunk for them, to explain their family history to them when they were old enough.)
He was ridiculously hungry. He'd thrown up all his food before becoming a vampire...and then had drank Zelda's plasma...and then been cured of being a vampire, and slept for...however long he'd been asleep. He'd slept so long he physically couldn't sleep any more. He just didn't want to get out of bed and face anyone, not even Zelda. As long as they thought he was asleep, no one would talk to him about it. He felt worthless; he was Zelda's weakness. She'd resigned herself to die rather than hurt him. Her! His fiery witch! He'd tried so hard to eliminate what he thought Zelda's biggest weakness was and found out that it was him. Him! He had almost been used to kill her. He wished he could forget the taste of her plasma in his mouth. He could forget something so vastly important as the fact that he'd been bitten by a vampire, and was turning into one, but no, he couldn't forget drinking her plasma! If he'd at least died, then he couldn't be used against her again...but she loved him, so he couldn't die, it would hurt her...he was her weak, helpless, fooolish human who could be used to get into her secured house and almost murder her, and she'd still curl up in bed with him! At least Zelda and Deedee had not seen how the sadist had rendered him into a pathetic begging mess...but he still knew and he hated himself for it. They'd apparently cured him to make sure that he couldn't be used as a puppet vampire assassin again, but that just meant that he was still a weak human with human senses and human vulnerabilities...who could be controlled and bitten again!
He tried to tell himself that he should just be happy to be alive and be happy that Zelda loved him...and that he'd not ended up being used to kill his wife and then continued to be the sadists slave until she tired of him and walked him into the sunlight...but he couldn't help but feel angry that he had no control of any of this; the only reason that had not happened was because they'd not expected Deedee or taken her seriously...the only thing that had saved him was that he didn't know that Deedee had a sleep elixir. His ignorance had saved him! That was perhaps the most horrible way he could be saved from anything; it was a slap in the face. Though he supposed his ignorance had put him in danger in the first place.
He'd need to keep colloidal silver in his plasma stream to both keep vampires from reading his mind or biting him. They'd never bite him with it in his blood...so really, he'd just been taken off guard by the things he didn't know about...and now he knew about them, and could take steps to protect himself and Zelda...so, no, they couldn't just bite him again. He was not helpless.
He'd have to face the world sometime, no matter how he felt. If self loathing could stop him, he'd already be dead; he'd have never been able to be raised to be a well educated, law abiding Russian citizen and then become a school drop-out criminal living in fasccist Simerica to survive. No...not just living here...now he was a Simerican citizen, thanks to Zelda 'fixing his immigration problem'...but this made him feel like a traitor to Mother Russia! (If he believed in such things, he'd be worried his grandma was turning in her grave...but now that he knew ghosts were real...should he be concerned? Were his family members ghosts wandering around in Moscow? He still had so many questions about the supernatural world, and he would need to start asking Zelda or researching for answers before they bit him like the sadist had.) He would get dressed and assess what was currently going on, and what he was expected to do...and at the very least he'd need to drink something soon.
Rafael: For a moment, he was dumbstruck by seeing her hair down. They'd only spent a few days together of course, but the entire time, her hair had been kept up in that tight bun with the braids...she'd even slept that way. Only a few strands of her hair had escaped on the sides of her face, and those had some slight waviness but not really a hint at the full measure of what her hair would do if it weren't so tightly controlled. So, her hair had a bit more natural curl than his...he wanted to reach out and touch her tornado like curls, but he didn't dare. "Yourr hairr lyooks lofely, Zyelda."
Zelda: "Nice try, Twinkle Toes, but this is a tangled mess! I just haven't bothered to fight with it yet, you know, because otherwise, Deedee would not have stopped babysitting me to go do her thing, she'd just hang around here forever and pretend she didn't have anything better to do. So, I totally owned her at Skate-locity 5000. It was really fun, you should have seen that last combo. I would have loved to see the look on your face! Anyway, then I sent her home with a bunch of apple jam, I can always make some more later. But she really can't, you wouldn't believe how bad of a cook she is, and she doesn't have the space for a canning set up anyway. And I kinda owed her something; I mean, she did totally cure you, and that was probably a pain, it sounds like. Sorry I took so long, Granny took Beatrice- so Beatrice was the witch that died last night, and I burned Lavinia, the vampire that was actually controlling you...to ash...and had to wash her out of my hair before I came down...because you know, eww. So, anyway, you don't have to worry about them and they didn't get away with it. Not even for a day."
Rafael: "It's okay, Zyelda, I figurred you verre gettink rrevyenge...I vas a byit vorried abyout vhethyerr you had remembyerred yourr dyeath flovvyerr or not. Dyid you? Oh, so, Dyeedyee has left, thyen?" He was not looking forward to looking Deedee in the eye after begging her for her help like that...he wondered if he could get away with pretending he didn't remember any of that...he supposed that if she cornered him, he'd apologize for kidnapping her; there was no denying that he had wronged her. But perhaps he could just be too busy working to run into Deedee again. She likely didn't want to see him again anyway, what with the kidnapping her and everything. Hopefully having Zelda as her friend again pleased her. It definitely pleased Zelda.
Zelda: "Yeah, I got it but didn't need it... like always! Yeah, she left a few minutes ago. You just missed her."
Rafael: "Arre therre styill pyancakes?"
Zelda: "Oh, you must be starving! But you can't just eat pancakes; you need some protein. Especially after all that nearly dying you've been up to! I'll whip up some peanut butter and jelly sandwiches real quick."
Rafael: "Peanyut buttyerr?" He asked. Was that a joke name like 'hot dog' or was there actually some sort of mixture of garden peas and nuts and butter? He supposed peas, slivered almonds and butter might be good together, maybe... he wasn't sure if he'd seen that on a tv show sometime in passing, but that didn't sound like it would be good with jelly...and wouldn't it be a lumpy mess? And then on a sandwich? Of course, Simericans didn't seem to be very good at food... she seemed to be taking out that white sugary paste "bread" with no grains in it and some sort of brown spread...when she took off the lid it smelled oddly pungent, and completely foreign.
Zelda: "Yeah, you know, like roasted peanuts? Only ground up smooth, and suspended in oil so it's spreadable. They make a crunchy one too, but I've always preferred the smooth kind."
Rafael: Now that he thought of it, he was sure he'd heard of peanuts before... hadn't Cyrus said someone was 'willing to work for peanuts' and then had to explain that it meant they worked for almost nothing...?
Zelda: "You've really never had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, Twinkle Toes?"
Rafael: "No." He said, then a bit doubtfully. "Is this a commyon fyood forr Simyerricans?" The same Simericans who would eat nearly fluorescent orange 'cheese product' that was as smooth as plastic? Obviously she'd had this food enough to develop a preference for ground smooth peanut paste suspended in oil rather than the other kind, and Zelda likely wanted comfort food too...after all, he'd been forced to drink her plasma, but she'd lost plasma and thought she was going to die. He'd eat it even if he didn't like it, at least it wasn't her plasma. Of course, the name actually had some relationship to what was in it...peanut butter was made from peanuts...this was a promising start. Perhaps it was just like Nutella, which was hazelnut chocolate spread made with palm oil...maybe they just used jelly instead of chocolate, and it's not like anyone would put a sweetened nut spread and jelly in the same jar, and Simericans seemed to prefer bizarrely uniform textures. He really hoped he'd like it, because if it was a comfort food for Zelda, she'd likely want to eat it with him often. It would be nice to find a Simerican food he actually liked. Somehow, every Simerican thing he'd tried had been at the least a disappointment (bacon and sausage just tasted wrong, they over salted their pickles and put them in vinegar) or even an outright insult to what he expected food to be ("cheese product" in an aerosol can?! and of course "white bread" or the "wheat bread" that was really just white bread with wood shavings and food coloring- he could imagine if some baker in Moscow ever tried anything so underhanded they'd be beaten to death by a mob of elderly women who went through the war and the famines and weren't going to put up with anyone trying to put that in their grandchildren's mouths!)... but this sounded like maybe...maybe it could be a good food...hopefully it wasn't sickeningly sweet like their pastries.
Zelda: "It's mostly a kids' food, it's easy to prepare and doesn't take long, since it's just spreading the peanut butter and jelly. Grape's traditional, but we can use any jelly if you like a different one better."
Rafael: It was vile! It was not like Nutella, not sweet at all, other than the "white bread" and of course the very sweet grape jelly...It was thicker and sticker and so much saltier with a oily nut taste that made him want to gag. He supposed this meant that he didn't like the taste of peanuts, because it didn't seem to be overly sweetened, though it was extremely salty, which he did not expect being that everything else in the sandwich seemed to say 'sweet'...of course, just his luck, a Simerican food that was not tasteless except for a ton of sugar...and it had to taste terrible! Also, it stuck to the roof of his mouth, so he couldn't just swallow it quickly. He was going to eat it anyway. He'd been told Simericans were taught to "clean their plate", so he needed to finish it to not insult her.
Zelda: "So, what do you think? Do you like it?"
Rafael: "I'm afrraid I haf nevyerr gottyen the hank of the Simerryican palyate."
@TadOlson Yep, I have backups, but the backup program I was using failed to detect it on my external hard drive. What good is having backups if you can't use them?
@lanlyn Thanks for the encouragement. Yeah, I do miss them and it's a pain, but I'm dealing with a lot at the moment - and really haven't had the energy to tackle the computer problem.
