Hey again! Do you know if anyone has created a guide for taking real house plans and putting them into the game?
Hello I don't think that there is a guide for putting house plans into the game. Perhaps if you posted a thread here in Creative Corner where you asked other simmers any questions that you are having about creating your build from the floor plans? There will be simmers that can help you.
Hello again everyone!
OK, someone asked me where did I got those career lot objects that some of them don't found in debug (bb.shohiddenobjects). Here are my step-by-step tutorial with picture to make it more understandable:
1. Find your Sim a job via computer or phone. For example: I used my Simself and he's applying for a Scientist career.
2. Now that your Sim had a job, he/she needs to wait until his/her start of a working time.
3. Now that your Sim is in the workplace, enter cheat mode by pressing Ctrl+Shift+C, and type bb.enablefreebuild. Once you've entered a cheat, proceed to build mode.
4. Once you're in build mode, create a room, preferably a large one. Then, go to buy mode. Once you're in buy mode, proceed to career objects For example: Since it's a Science lab, select FutureSim Lab Items.
5. Place some career lot object (such as pipes from a Science lab) that you wished you want to use them when building.
6. Save it as a room.
7. After you saved it as a room, go back to where you're building a lot, place a room that you saved, pick-up and place your career lot objects to their desired location.
Well, that's my tutorial on how you get a career objects and use them when building a lot outside career lots. The only disadvantage is you can't copy them with an eyedropper, so you might wanna place your saved room again!
Anyway, hope this helps!
PS: Please forgive me if I posted it in wrong thread.
Hello @RyeCris16 Thankyou very much for your very helpful and informative tutorial! It will be very helpful for simmers. It is great that you provided pictures to help to explain it as well. Thankyou very much for posting it!
I have added a link to your post on the first page of this thread.

Hi all! I have a little tutorial on how to make L-shaped stairs that lead to a basement that I want to share.
Here is my outstandingly lovely house with the foundation and basement installed:
1. Make an L-shaped room in your house on the 1st floor. You can use all fence or all wall or a combination to make your room. I did the combo.
2. Delete the flooring in your small L-shaped room:
3. Now the foundation will be exposed and the floor of your room is now lower than the floor on the rest of the 1st level:
4. Now switch to your basement level and place the stairs in the approximate location of the small room:
5. Switch backup to the first level to check placement. I'm off by just one square:
6. Switch back to the basement level to reposition stairs. I moved the stairs back by one square:
7. Switch back to the 1st level. My stairs are now positioned right. Now widen the stairs to fill the width of that area of the room:
8. The small L-shaped room should look like this now:
9. Now place stairs from the grass level to the floor level on your 1st level:
10. Now the L-shaped room looks like this:
11. Now widen those stairs to fill the width of that area of the L-shaped room:
12. Now that the stairs are in, we just need to delete the fencing blocking the short set of stairs. Do this by pushing the blocking wall/fence inward (so away from the door in the picture) [you can also delete the fencing manually. As long as you have a second story, the ceiling tiles will not be deleted].
13. The room is now opened up to the rest of the house.
14. Place lighting, flooring and wall paper and decorate as you please:
15. You can change the foundation style in the room to any of the styles available in the game:
This does not affect the foundation style on the outside of your house. It just changes the syle in the room:
And there you have it! A fully functional L-shaped staircase leading to the basement.
This can be used with any foundation level, however there is one issue I should warn you of should you choose the lowest level of foundation. Sims are supposed to be able to route onto the lowest level foundation without stairs, however BryonyRae has found a bug that prevents sims from being able to do this. It is lot related and affects most lots in the game. If you choose to use the lowest level foundation, it is best to use a stair to prevent any routing issues. Also, other stair configurations are possible using this method, such as T-shaped and U-shaped configurations.
Have fun building!
Edit:
I have slight alternative route that can be taken with this tutorial. This route takes out the initial educated guess you have to make about where the basement level stairs should be placed.
1. Instead of starting out by making your L-shaped room, place the stairs in your basement first.
2. Draw your room around the stairs.
3. Delete the floor of your L-shaped room.
4. The stairs will automatically snap to the ground below your foundation, which puts you at step 8 in the original tutorial. Proceed from there.
@ruthless_kk
I have a question a little off topic but do not know where to put it.
I have downloaded the latest room made by you with images created in the game based on photographs. If I will put similar images to my room or home, this game will show it as CC. How you did that you didn't have this problem?
Just thought I'd add my process to take photos/paintings by reference of custom content without having the photos/paintings flagged as being modded:
Find two adjacent lots.
Set one up with your custom content positioned very close to the edge of the lot nearest the other lot. I tend to select mostly CC wall art and built a wall up a couple of levels to support it. You can, of course, also take pictures (or paint) objects.
You'll likely want to enlarge the objects a bit, since there is going to be some distance between them and your sims. It won't affect your quality much. You'll probably have to hop in and out of the CC lot a few times to adjust positioning and sizes as you get started.
On the other lot, move your sim(s) in and park their easel(s) as close to the edge of the lot near the CC as you can (or if you're taking photos, just head to the edge of the lot and have an easier time of it!).
Now, when you choose to paint by reference (or take a photograph), you're just going to pick the CC you want to take a shot of and go for it. Once complete, the painting or photo will *not* be flagged as CC and can be used in your actual build.
I strongly recommend storing artwork in the sim's inventory, not the household inventory, as there is a bug that can cause them to go blank when stored in household inventory. When done imaging your CC, I recommend going to a fresh lot, setting up a room or two and placing all of the art on the walls. Save that lot to your Library. Now, whenever you're working on a build and want to grab some of the art, just go to manage worlds, place the art lot somewhere, grab a sim to move in and take the art, and then move that sim into your build lot (motherlode cheat comes in handy here!).
Also, if I could offer just one tip to newer builders, especially those using bb.moveobjects, it would be to make sure to test saving your lot to the library and then placing it from there. There are a lot of bugs that don't show their heads until you do this, so you won't even know there's a problem with your lot. But your downloaders will quickly find it... I recommend doing this at several points during the building process, so you won't discover you have a lot of rework looming at the end.
