Creating Holidays: with regards to community lots

I am just really getting into playing and so I have set a few main holidays (I play 14 days per season). For my New Years I'd like to be able to invite guest but then I'd ideally want the celebration to be had at a bar. For my Easter, and Christmas I would like to invite guest but one of the activities I'd want them to do is go to church (I have a lot that I set up as a church).
When making a holiday can this be achieved or does all the events have to take place on the home lots. (hope this isn't a ridiculous question, I'm just not understanding from looking at the calendar UI).
How do I set the location of the holiday celebrations, or do I just take my sims there like in a group outing?
