World of Ruin Challenge

So this draws inspiration from the Live off the Grid challenge and the Apocalypse challenge with some new stuff thrown in.

It’s the aftermath of a nuclear apocalypse. The world is dangerous with bad people, contamination, mutant creatures, and a lack of civilization. Your Sim(s) is alive and hopes to stay that way for as long as possible, but considering the many new dangers of the world, it’s gonna be hard.

Rules

Building:
  • You can own nothing using gas or electricity, which means no refrigerator, stove (that includes that woodburning stove), or electric lights (you can use candles and oil lamps). No electronics either (except for battery-powered radios).
  • No coolers or grills.
  • No paint/wallpaper unless it’s concrete or wood. No flooring unless it’s concrete, metal, or wood (cannot be stained wood).
  • Any neighboring houses must be bulldozed or replaced with an apocalypse-esque building (other shelters/bunkers, run down shacks, etc.)
Curfews/Freedom:
  • Curfew for Elders and Children is 7:00 pm. They must be inside by then or accompanied by an Adult or Young Adult. Curfew for Teens is 8:00 pm, or 9:00 pm if they have an athletic skill of 3. Teens (athletic skill 6), Young Adults and Adults are allowed out until 10:00 pm (but they must be on the home lot by 9:00 pm). We don’t want anyone getting killed by a wild mutant or a bandit. Everyone is allowed out at 5:00 am.
  • Toddlers and babies are not allowed off the home lot at all. Children are allowed off lot if they are accompanied by an Adult or Young Adult. Elders, Adults, and Young Adults are allowed off lot, but must have either an athletic skill of 2 (4 for Elders) or are with another Adult/Young Adult. You don’t want to get beat or killed by mutants or bandits.
  • Babies and Toddlers cannot be left home without a Teen or older. A Child can be left at home alone, but is not allowed outside.
If anyone (provided they are or are accompanied by an Adult or Young Adult) travels outside you main neighborhood, there must be either an Adult or Young Adult at home, or everyone must go.
  • You cannot go to bars, clubs, museums, libraries, etc. You can only travel to collect resources (like fish or new plant species). Children can play at parks but there must be an Adult or Young Adult watching them.
Socialization:
  • Your sims can freely socialize with any of their family/survival partners.
  • They cannot interact with anyone outside of their household except for children.
  • A single sim (only member of household) can interact with up to three people (not including children) outside of their household, but must wait a full week after meeting someone to meet someone else. It is encouraged to invite at least one of these people into your group (household). You can never be too careful, you can’t trust strangers...
  • This means you should probably ignore all of your neighbors when they welcome you to the neighborhood. They might be trying to kill or loot you!
  • You cannot hire any services (maid, pizza, fire, police, etc.) as they no longer exist.
  • No electricity means that no phones work! If your sim tries to use their phone cancel it! To travel outside your neighborhood you can zoom out.
Cultivation:
  • You can only have three of each plant and two of each tree (If you have Outdoor Retreat it’s two of each plant and one of each tree because you can cook fish over a fire pit)
  • You can’t eat what you don’t have (meaning you can’t roast marshmallows or hotdogs, but you can roast fish if you have caught some)
  • Wild plants might be irradiated, so you should only harvest a wild plant if you aren’t already growing it.
  • No careers (no one is hiring, they’re all just trying not to die).
  • You can paint, but no one is going to buy it, so you can’t sell it.
  • You can sell any extra fish or plant harvests to buy furniture or to extend your shelter (people are definitely willing to trade things for food), and you can also sell furniture and such.

I don’t think I left anything out, but it’s entirely possible. If you have questions about the rules, you can ask me, but mostly just have fun with it and try to remember that it’s the apocalypse. You can change or tweak rules based on how you want to play. I’d love to see/read about what your do or make if you decide to play this challenge. Happy Simming!
