I'M IN! UPDATE On My Journey to D.A.R. Membership!

Last night I got a mailing from the National D.A.R. in D.C. Inside this envelope was a welcoming letter, along with a beautiful embossed certificate! I now have a membership number and the name of my Patriot (my sixth great-grandfather) is on said certificate just underneath my membership number! All that is left, I believe, is my installation (swearing in) at my local D.A.R. Chapter. It could happen later this month when we meet. If not, it will likely take place next September when our monthly meetings start up again. In the meantime, I have a couple of links from them I should take a look at. Basically, one is a coarse on the D.A.R., explaining more about this organization.

I'm so very excited! I could do a happy dance!

Thank you for allowing me to share this moment with each of you. This is a big step for me. I'm totally out of my 'comfort zone'. But, these women are really terrific. I had a great time at the State Convention. Plus, this organization will allow me to take part in preserving our American Heritage and History, something I'm deeply passionate about.
