A kitten and puppy question for the console version of the game

I am currently playing Sims 2 Pets for the Play Station 2. I have tried to search the Internet, but only found information for the computer version of the game. My question is how many days do they stay as a kitten or puppy before they age up?

Let me remember...
If I remember it correctly, they randomly grow up. It may take days, it may take few hours, but they randomly grow up.
