Sending Your Sims to University When They Are Parents?

Considering that River (nee McIrish) and Haruo Chikamori...my two Sims are: for the lack of a better term for it: Married; With Children :D Is there a way to send them to University without having things go completely wonky in the homeworld? I want to send River and Haruo together for "higher education" :) After all, means a degree and all that...and in Asian families...well...it's imperative that you get a degree or you'll be considered...

...A FAILURE!

So...my question is how do I send the two of them to University...without finding the children gone (taken by the Social Worker) when my two sims come back after finishing their degrees.

Time in your homeworld stands still when sims are at Uni or traveling in any other world. If any of the kids are babies or toddlers, then you do need a babysitter or another household member teen or older to stay with them just for the brief part where the parents get into a vehicle and leave the world. It's not a matter of social workers, you can't leave very young kids like that alone on the home lot anyway. Same for the return home, the same babysitter or other household member will still be there as time will not have moved in your sims' absence.

The other way is, with the NRaas Traveler mod in play and set to allow for it, take the kids with them to Uni and stay in a house off campus. But someone has to stay with the kids during any periods when both parents will be in classes at the same time. I've never done Uni this way so I'm just assuming it will work as my sims have traveled with babies and toddlers to custom vacation worlds with Traveler.

The kids are all at child-stage. I was thinking of moving the kids in with the grandparents utilizing the split family (I was going to do a specific trial save to make sure that it doesn't corrupt) and then sending River and Haruo off at the same time to university. :D Though of course, she's already reached the pinnacle of her painting and she's at Level 8 of her self-employment career. And Haruo has mastered Painting and fulfilled his lifetime wish...but he's going to university because River is going. And well...the save is about Generation One at the moment. :D

If the kids are all at the child stage, you can just leave them, and nothing will happen to them.

Yes, if your kids can stay home alone for five sim minutes or whatever it takes to get through the travel transition and back again as children certainly can, then there is no issue here. Are your sims craving the actual Uni World experience, though? Sounds like they could benefit almost as much from the honorary degrees one can purchase with LTR points. :)

Y'know...they (after four kids...and an adopted one) are probably just wanting to get away for a while. :D Y'know...how parents cheer when it's "Back to School" time? :D

My game always sends a baby sitter to the lot when I leave child age sims and younger alone while the rest of the household is off to university. Often my sims return home just as the baby sitter arrives. The worst that happens is that I have to dismiss the baby sitter.

Once I watched a back to school vine compilation and it mainly consisted of kids and teens raging after watching that commercial.
